This better be Marvins last season in college hockey. If not there will be a couple of teams really gunning for him next year! He is dirty and dirty players get what is coming to them sooner or later! Bruess and PUKE-ovich are clear examples! Stress for the most part. The Sioux need to send a message to the rest of the league that they will protect their own, their own way. If this game gets one sided on the scoreboard, look out!

Right on the money Knickball. The vote will happen, that is one of the main reasons Ron his Days Are Over lost his bid for re-election. Murphy and the tribal council need to play their cards right to make sure their process is bullet proof from skepticism of those that were against a vote. Just think how well the nickname chances are now compared to when the SBoHE put the BS deadline in place. SR members will get their voices heard and we will get to retain the name. We just needed to be a little patient.

Not exactly the way I would have worded things but you are correct. Generally speaking, tribal governments do not act as quickly as fed, state and local governments. That said, we need to cut SR some slack on the deadline extension issue. There has been a total transformation in their tribal government. They need time to sort things out internally before going through with this issue. If they rush through this they will be susceptible to a lot of controversy in the future. I am fine with them taking their time and getting the job done right (getting the referendum on a ballot). Now that there is dialogue going on about a name referendum within the tribal council, the SBoHE should have no choice but to grant extensions if requested by SR.

What day is the SR election? If Charlie Murphy wins (looks like he will), doesn't there need to be some turnover in the tribal council to get a tribal vote on the nickname issue?

Things seem very quiet regarding the name as of late? Where are all the big guns on this? I hope there are people out there pushing on the governors office to halt this deadline so things can play out at Standing Rock.

I think it is funny and a little bit ironic that the guy who replaced the idiot Ed Schulz is coming from the Forum. Ed was very persistant on blasting the Forum towards the end of his time on KFGO. McFeely is just another weenie to fill the slot on KFGO. He is the same guy that totally ripped on the UND hockey program for not suspending players for longer amounts of time after the Judy's and elevator incidents. This move gives me more reason not to support KFGO!!!

I hope they pass this for UMTC only! If this legislation would have been passed seven years ago, there would have been no Vanek, no Potulny's, no Irman, and no back to back NCAA titles! Since they have reverted back to there "MN only" ways (with minor exceptions) they have been far from dominant.

In regards to the best in the WCHA, CC has a nice line with Rau, Walsky, and Lampl. If Owens had Sweatt on that line it would be by far the best line in the conference. However the superior coach Scott Owens (to The Don that is) spreads the talent out on his lines to produce a more balanced attack. Maybe they should do the same in gooferville???

There really isn't a huge difference in points between Duncan and the guys ahead of him. Many players are deserving, but if the Sioux win the regular season title, it should be easy to overlook 6 pts. If I had to pic someone other than Duncan, Stalock from UMD would be a solid choice factoring in how they have turned this season around.

You are right on the money! CC is a very skilled team and played like there playoff lives were on the line. That said, I am very happy with UND's effort and the three points. Rau, Sweat, and Walsky were very impressive all weekend. We only need one point, but two is much better and ensures the cup is not shared with the Dasher Troll. Bucky will be playing with the same amount of desperation as CC did this weekend. I don't think UW is nearly is strong as CC, but we will have to win on the road against a team that always plays us tough.

I remember an interview with Blais in his final years as head coach with UND saying something in line with he would not coach anywhere for more than ten years. If you look at his resume, that stands true to this day. His personal life had a lot to do with his moving on, not to mention the notion that he probably had more to prove to himself which made the leap to the NHL make sense. Dean will do what he feels is right for himself. It wouldn't surprise me if he went on to coach somewhere else in D-1 hockey, not even to UMTC. However, it would be a hard pill to swallow! Let's hope he gets comfortable in Fargo and starts grooming some new talent for UND!
