I live here for Fighting Sioux hockey and a nice golf course. Both of them are sitting on the chopping block right now. At least you live within the diversion......... Heading up around noon. Will post conditions when I get to GF.

Great article by Brad. These guys have been fun to watch over the past four seasons. It would make an even better story if they win it all. This team reminds me a little of the 2000 team.

Here's how I see it playing out for the rodents: They get past UAA this weekend in 2, although a game on sunday wouldn't surprise me. They win their first game vs SCSU ..................yep the Dawgs are done! They get beat by UND on Friday nite. This either ends their season (best possible outcome) or they get the #15 seed in the tournament. The #15 seed UMNTC goes to the East Regional to play the #2 seed BC. Good news is that the gopher season is over or our nemisis is bumped in the 1st round.

I thing I have noticed about Matt's goals are that they come at important times of a game. When we have struggled, he has taken over games and helped us avoid losses.

Yep. Except I think it is a bit of a stretch to say that Lapointe is as good as Chay. Marto and Genoway are both offensive defensemen, but Genoway takes more risks. Unfortunately that has cost us a few games this year. Here is how I rate our defenseman this year. 1. MacWilliam - Most intimaditing and solid defenseman on the roster. Top flight risk aside from Gregoire. 2. Blood - Makes the big hits and solid in the defensive zone. His +/- is amazing this year. His big screen appearrance during the games are always hilarious! 3. Marto - Very versatile as by playing forward for part of the season. The team is much better with him at the blue-line. Has amazing speed for a defenseman. 4. Genoway - Great playmaker and leader for the team. Downside is that he tries to do to much at times and that has cost us. 5. Lapointe - Quietly having another solid year. Isn't that flashy but gets the job done in both zones. 6. Forbort - Having a great freshman season. Has adjusted to the speed of the game well. Has good offensive and defensive zone strengths. Will be a great player for the future. 7. Simpson - Just turned 18 and is playing at a high level. He sees the ice very well and passes well. 8. Gleason - Played very well as a freshman last year and has done a nice job this year with the limited playing time. Will be a starter next year and will be much better with the additional playing time. Damn we are deep at defense!!!!

None of you brainiacs have MacWilliam in for this? He is by far our best defenseman and will be the greatest flight risk aside from Gregoire. Andy Mac just kills people on the ice and is the most solid defenseman we have. Period! Can't think of anyone in the league I would rather have on the blueline! Nothing against Chay but he is a 3rd teamer for this award, IMO. Blood is very deserving of a 2nd team vote. Of course, people will vote on offensive stats for the most part and Chay will make 1st team by reputation and offensive production.

That would never happen. Think of the ramifications. Noboday would buy or wear anything other than the throwbacks. Home of the Sioux would ring louder than ever during the anthem. The list could go on and on. No. They want to bury this name for ever. The thought of embrassing the history of the FIGHTING SIOUX nickname makes the anti-nickname weasels squirm!

I was at a local retailer yesterday looking over FIGHTING SIOUX gear, when I ran into the manager of the department. I had a discussion with him on the timeline for buying and selling FIGHTING SIOUX gear. During this discussion he told me that he had already order UND hockey jerseys for next year. He stated that the logo for next year looked kinded like a "coin with UND labeled in the center of it". He said it was "not that great". He also said that he anticipated that sales were going to be terrible. While I do not wish this fate on any business, I hope the majority of true FIGHTING SIOUX fans do not purchase the new "neutured" UND gear. I know that once the FIGHTING SIOUX gear is no longer available, I will not buy anything new for a very long time.

I did see Danny Kristo at the game yesterday. He was still on crutches but there was no walking boot. I did notice that he was wearing what looked to be a leather glove on one of his hands. I don't know if there is any hope for him to play any more this season, but looks like a full recovery is well underway. Would like to hear someone from the team say if he is out for the rest of the season. With the Final 5 just under 3 weeks away and the NC$$ regionals the following week, maybe the coaching staff is still holding out hope that he could be back. Even though Cichy is playing well, it would be nice to have Danny on that line for the stretch run.

Wait til after this season ends. If we lose to a Yale or UNH in the first round again, I would be ok with that. Just kidding............Well maybe??

Saturday - Gregoire Sunday - Matts Frattin

Maybe a plant from the otherside of the issue. MAYBE someone like RHHIT gave him a nose-bleed ticket and $50 to go to the game in order to make a story out of something that never exists! I have been going to games since the late 70's and cannot remember anyone in a headdress and war-paint except for the tribal members that would occasionally have a dance ceremony on ice prior to the game. I wish we still had that!!!!!

How bout the football program makes the jump to Div 1-A? Then we would never have to have a conference (ie Notre Dame) and would never have to worry about dropping the nickname for the playoffs!
