This is so important. It stood out against CC. -

Good information, Sic. Nothing like facts to move a discussion. But more shots from higher percentage areas may, itself, be due to factors that need to be discussed. Just because the D man are taking a lower percentage of the shots and more are being taken from high percentage areas may be due to more than strategy. -
I can see it. Badgers were always fun, but a good gopher toss that went for a long, preferably bloody, slide toward the goalie was always sweet. Never witnessed a goose. That's inspired. Hope it was a snow.

I'm sure there a lot of factors, some of them random, but I'll throw two out there for thought. 1) Pinto. Not much needs to be said about him. Toewsish (not JT level but similar) in his presence on the ice. 2) Kawaguchi. I've commented off and on over the last two years that he is a guy who seems to need some time for the game to slow down. He's always had skill and work ethic. He's figured it out, IMO, and the result is more goals for not only himself but for everyone around him. Those are two. There are probably plenty of others, including an overall increase in skill level, which affects everything, including the PP. -
Gophers, BC, UMD starting to hit stride. Big difference between October and March. All you gotta do is get in the dance.
-
They just need to end this. Go straight time.
-
They also seem to play better when they are up by 5.

This team can pass

OH. (icon for embarrassed)

As far as conference standings are concerned, UMD has only played 15 games, while DU has 18. We've played 17. Go DU.

Tim's the best radio college hockey play by play I've heard, but Olson is hurting his broadcast. -
What we need is a goalie who plays a full 60. Both of them stand around at least half the time.

I was inclined to make a comment on one thread or another about Jake Brandt as a color guy, and I realized it would be appropos to make it on this thread. No question that part of the reason crowd are smaller and, possibly, quieter, in rinks all over the place is the availability of high quality streaming coverage of games. The availability and quality of both production and home video equipment makes it tempting for people to save money and watch the game at home. That's good because it makes the games available to more people, but it's bad in that it reduced attendance and, I think, even takes away from the experience for those in attendance, since they have become accustomed to experiencing the world through their tablets and phones. There's that. But my comment was just that I think Jake has become a very good color guy. He speaks in cliche's a little too much, as almost all sports announcers do, but he is pretty consistently on point in his observations about the game. That's all. I was gonna say that somewhere, then I realized the subject is relevant for more than one reason to the discussion that is going on now on this thread. A win tonight and, what, a split out of Denver? -

They were genuinely nice guys. Larry had a great sense of humor too. -
It's also nice to see a Sioux team that can maintain control along the boards in the O zone. Been a few years.
-
they weren't quite clicking, but you heard Jackson say between the 2nd and 3rd that he liked the way they were playing and that they just had to keep doing their jobs. He was right.

Watch the camera shots, though. They're looking at their phones. -

I recall sitting above the bowl at the not yet complete old ralph with Larry Drader, who was to become captain a few years later. Larry was visualizing , and it was cool. Jeff Sauer brought in the first opponent at that rink. -
Scheel has a higher ceiling and the preferred option, but Thome is not chopped liver. If necessary, they can beat anybody with him in net.

Wisconsin not many years ago was crazy fun, but the Herb has suffered, like most venues, from more streaming alternatives and, like UMinn and UMich, poor performance on the ice. -
At this point, I just hope to see them peak in March, by whichever means that happens or wherever it leaves them in the rankings. Goaltending success can be fickle, and injuries may be around any corner. Just get them healthy and playing their best hockey come tourney time.

Sic is bright but entirely shameless. And maybe that's a quality combination.

It was great. Hard as it might seem to believe, the Barn was crazier sometimes. In the first years at the new "old" Ralph, many students thought it was sedate compared to the Barn. The cold and smaller venue, I suppose, and the teams weren't good during the early years of the old Ralph. Later, though, it was home to a bunch of NC teams, and that always gets a place rocking.
