  1. What we need is a goalie who plays a full 60. Both of them stand around at least half the time.
  2. I was inclined to make a comment on one thread or another about Jake Brandt as a color guy, and I realized it would be appropos to make it on this thread. No question that part of the reason crowd are smaller and, possibly, quieter, in rinks all over the place is the availability of high quality streaming coverage of games. The availability and quality of both production and home video equipment makes it tempting for people to save money and watch the game at home. That's good because it makes the games available to more people, but it's bad in that it reduced attendance and, I think, even takes away from the experience for those in attendance, since they have become accustomed to experiencing the world through their tablets and phones. There's that. But my comment was just that I think Jake has become a very good color guy. He speaks in cliche's a little too much, as almost all sports announcers do, but he is pretty consistently on point in his observations about the game. That's all. I was gonna say that somewhere, then I realized the subject is relevant for more than one reason to the discussion that is going on now on this thread. A win tonight and, what, a split out of Denver?
  3. They were genuinely nice guys. Larry had a great sense of humor too.
  4. It's also nice to see a Sioux team that can maintain control along the boards in the O zone. Been a few years.
  5. they weren't quite clicking, but you heard Jackson say between the 2nd and 3rd that he liked the way they were playing and that they just had to keep doing their jobs. He was right.
  6. Watch the camera shots, though. They're looking at their phones.
  7. UND forwards skating back very well tonight.
  8. He's playing well, but the boys are coming sooo close to potting one.
  9. I recall sitting above the bowl at the not yet complete old ralph with Larry Drader, who was to become captain a few years later. Larry was visualizing , and it was cool. Jeff Sauer brought in the first opponent at that rink.
  10. Scheel has a higher ceiling and the preferred option, but Thome is not chopped liver. If necessary, they can beat anybody with him in net.
  11. Wisconsin not many years ago was crazy fun, but the Herb has suffered, like most venues, from more streaming alternatives and, like UMinn and UMich, poor performance on the ice.
  12. At this point, I just hope to see them peak in March, by whichever means that happens or wherever it leaves them in the rankings. Goaltending success can be fickle, and injuries may be around any corner. Just get them healthy and playing their best hockey come tourney time.
  13. Sic is bright but entirely shameless. And maybe that's a quality combination.
  14. It was great. Hard as it might seem to believe, the Barn was crazier sometimes. In the first years at the new "old" Ralph, many students thought it was sedate compared to the Barn. The cold and smaller venue, I suppose, and the teams weren't good during the early years of the old Ralph. Later, though, it was home to a bunch of NC teams, and that always gets a place rocking.
  15. I assume he is their designated shooter on their first PP unit.
  16. Be careful not to underestimate them because of PW. They beat Mich St., Minn., swept Cloud on the road, and were respectable in 3 of 4 games against Denver and UMD.
  17. So often the alcoholic is laughed at when they are 20 and dead by 60. Hopefully, there is someone close to Eddie who can help.
  18. It will be unacceptable if they don't go straight time after two periods--both games. UND HOckey: Arse kickers with compassion.
  19. Should have been a holding the stick call, but Mismash has no excuse for his loss of composure. And he's been prone to stupid fouls now and then. Still really like the way he has played this year.
  20. Not sure I agree. Time and time again we had physical teams but found they called the games closer in the Tournament. This team has a good balance of physicality and skill/speed. Give me a team with speed that keeps its feet moving in the NCAAs.
  21. You mean we were lucky not to get a major?
  22. My thought as well. It's done. Play hockey.
  23. I just hope I don't take my own life tonight listening to Olson interrupt the best play by play guy in college hockey.
