  1. Better than listening to these nattering nabobs of negativism.
  2. Keep in mind; Lucy is still holding the football.
  3. Jerry York's profane rants were as famous as they were scandalous. Sticks and other equipment? Pete Townshend of hockey coaches.
  4. The guy in 4th grade doing arm farts from the back row.
  5. Take it from a guy who regularly talks through his arse, Sioux> is talking through his arse.
  6. My source, which is usually never 100% accurate, tells me he's rethinking his decision based on career advice he's read on these threads.
  7. Those folks were deeply unhappy under Hak, and there were a lot of them.
  8. Wood doesn't have Maurice Richard's speed or Ovie's shot. Not much of a fighter. Meh, another project.
  9. Denver is everywhere. That's the problem.
  10. Exactly, Wilbur. We can be fans of the game and program without letting results make or ruin our day. Small stuff/big stuff. That doesn't mean you won't be available if they're in a pinch for a tendie, though, right?
  11. With all this negative noise going on, BB needs to bring Matt Foley in as a motivational speaker before we lose just about everybody.
  12. UND has a higher average star rating than Mich, Mich St. WI, and UMinn?? But chippahs . . .
  13. It may seem like Sic is just a slug from where we sit, but who's to say he doesn't have goals like anyone else.
  14. Speaking of rural Minnesota culture, what's on the Angle up there on Lake of the Woods? Any villages? Rental cabins for fishing? Sasquatch?
  15. UND is still a national powerhouse and will continue to be for at least the near future. And there are precedents, even in elite-dominated college BB. Spokane is hardly a cosmopolitan city, yet small school Gonzaga can compete with anybody.
  16. I realize these kids are playing for a career in the NHL, but recruiting elite players is not like it was generations ago (Blais?) when a lot of them left small towns in Minnesota or the Canadian prairie and went directly to college. Now, they're playing just about year round and spending several years in juniors. The chippahs are on traveling teams before that. They're getting culturally more sophisticated (or at least more experienced). They still put hockey first, but if there are two relatively equal programs to chose from, and one is in Denver, Ann Arbor, or Boston and one is in Mankato or Grand Forks, that will be a factor to increasing numbers of kids, IMO. To say nothing of NIL. The day when Warroad/Roseau and Range kids identified with the small town culture in GF as opposed to the city kids in the Mpls, whom they saw as rivals growing up, is pretty much history. Now, the elite kids in Roseau play against and with the elite twin city kids in venues and for teams other than their local high schools. I mean it isn't yet like BB, where the blue bloods at Kentucky are very familiar with the blue bloods at Duke and other elite BB factories. They've often been teammates on traveling club teams growing up. College hockey isn't that yet, thank Parise, but it's getting more so. But you all know from experience that I'm talking out of my arse on things like this. I have no explanation for how one who knows so little can say so much.
  17. On the other hand, when your audience is old and a little infirm, repetition has its advantages.
  18. Shyt, SIc, I see you beat me to that joke. By a lot.
  19. We need to bring Hammer back to do PBP just so we can hear him pronounce Semptimphelter's name for the first two months of the season.
  20. It is this kind of analysis that we too often don't require of ourselves in order to come to rational conclusions, and Hovey would almost certainly say it is only a small part of what could be or should be considered. Most of us just reduce it all to the simplest possible metric (e.g. banner count) and stop at that. Sic also takes an analytical approach. There are a way too many knowledgeable hockey people here for there not to be more discussion about why UND isn't winning the big games, not simply that they aren't. It isn't about protecting Berry. He is paid well knows what he signed up for. If there is reason to conclude he can't win the big games and identifiable reasons why, and someone is available who can, he has to be prepared to be replaced. I personally think it's too soon to reach that conclusion. But I'm not one of those on this board with a deep understanding of hockey, college hockey in particular. We expect the team to be better, but we have some pretty good talent on the fan roster too, and we ought to do better.
  21. If you wanted to ask someone how to be a better nfl quarterback, would you ask Dan Marino or Trent Dilfer? Or maybe Jeff Hostetler.
  22. I'm sure the members of this board could refer a long list of mental health providers.
