McKenna hasn’t won the Hobey or been drafted #1 overall yet, but how do the experts among you compare him to Celebrini in terms of NHL readiness? Was Celebrini expected to immediately perform the way he did?
  2. Thanks for the replay, Blackheart. Timely. Couple of thoughts: Kudos to Bucky fans for standing strong and loud long after the game was basically out of reach, even giving a standing O as the clock ran out. And that wasn’t a Cinderella team, having won the title the year before. Phil Sykes. Any other Sioux play in 3 championship games, as he did?
  3. It will change the coaching side in a big way. Like I said, it will be like Pitino coaching a new team of McDonald’s All Americans every year.
  4. Will coaching blue blood hockey become a little like coaching Kentucky and Duke in BB. New squad of high draft picks every year? The top 10 players in North America aren’t going NCAA, but . . .
  5. I have a close friend who is a Western grad and a bunch who got graduate degrees at MSU. All of them hate UMich, of course. Feels to me like everyone who is not a life-long Yankees fan hates the Yankees.
  6. Probably true. All depends on how modern you are.
  7. At least the Twinsies have modern day WS rings. Fairly modern.
  8. Got a therapist standing by?
  9. When DU won the first of their recent titles after many years of frustration, most of us were very happy for him. During trying times, he always managed to stay on the high road—a true fan of college hockey. Now that DU has become a perennial force, Puck can go ahead and suffer with the rest of us—more this year 😁. But I meant it when I said the two of you would have a lot of hockey memories to share.
  10. Have you ever met puck swami, farce? That would be quite the college hockey conversation.
  11. For many years I would slide into a months-long depression after an NCAA tourney loss, but things have gotten better. With help. If we lose to WI on Thursday, I’ll probably beat the dog to death, but I’ll be pretty much back to normal by the end of April. Every day and in every way, I am getting better and better.
  12. Four damn good teams in an intense battle affected by tips, bounces, deflections, and goaltenders. Enjoy the ride.
  13. Ohio State will be well funded sooner or later.
  14. We’ve gone a little adrift here. I’m sure Jost, Parise and others would have benefitted from another semester or two of Shakespeare.
  15. So at least some players use professional agents early in their amateur careers, only without pay? An on-ramp to paid agency?
  16. Usually don’t think of strong head coach character types as “bubbling up” to the top. Thats what bad odors do.
  17. Best case: Denver beats Michigan and we survive Wisconsin to CLOBBER Denver. With all due respect to Swami.
  18. It’s also worth remembering that most of these kids have been “playing up” since they were middle schoolers, and the fact that they now have a chance to go pro pretty much validates their decisions leading up to this point. Their aggressive development path decisions have paid off. It’s not hard to understand why they would tend to continue that approach. Especially if their “family advisors” are the same people they’ve always listened to. But then, burd doesn’t know shyt about the subject.
  19. What do the experts say about Livanavage’s chances at a substantial NHL career?
  20. That can describe a wide range of negotiating experience and skill. Do you mean professional agents who are labeled “family advisors?”
  21. Are they permitted to have agents while still classified as eligible? In other words, is there usually a fairly lengthy negotiating period before they decide?
  22. So, 10 days and the boys’ season will be done. How long is it likely to be before the roster questions are pretty much cleared up?
  23. It may very well be, and most of us fans are really looking forward to it. Still, it’s always cool to have an “outsider” there as a Cinderella/dark horse. Someone for the boys in green to beat for #9. The romantic in me, I guess, though beating Michigan’s arse would feel pretty good.
  24. Cool. Do you have any seats from Ralph I?
  25. Is it naive to think Jax will spend a little phone time with Sandy on how to crack Michigan’s nut, which the Dogs nearly did in the third period yesterday? And yeah, Wisconsin first, but the coaches will be as prepared as possible.
