What about the FFS level UND often plays at?
-
Yeah, but if they REALLY sweep them this weekend and then REALLY sweep the following weekend? We're UND, fcs.
-
Wear do they play this weekend?

I should clarirfy--or qualilfy--that post. You are a committed and long-time Sioux hockey fan, which is a very good thing. You have a sense of humor, which is always appreciated, especially during frustrating times. I often seem sarcastic about things you post, but I'll readily concede that you know more about the Sioux hockey program than i do, so take anything I say with a big grain of salt. Which I'm sure you do without my encouragement.

What are “the old days,” exactly? All of the 70s? The years from ‘88 to ‘96? ALL of the Hakstol years when they nearly always made the tourney but many, including you, continually called for his dismissal because he couldn’t win the last game?
-
Now that's a mitey good solution.
-
That's not even very bright as a rhetorical question.
-
Exactly like that. Being able to worry about that dang light helps me forget I will soon die a cold, dark death

After posting that, I googled Greg, thinking I remembered he'd passed fairly recently. I learned (again, probably) the circumstances of his death, and it was very saddening, as I recall him as a fine young man during his time at UND. Puts things in perspective about this game and about life.

I'm more concerned about the NCAA regional. Tired of being in the Region of Death.

He was--and a class act.

Fair point. I've also been an adult Sioux hockey fan since 1970 and have seen a lot of bad teams. As far as unmet expectations, a lot of fans will remember those teams around '89-92--the Greg Johnson years. They had some awesome offensive talent during that time (Johnson, D. Ward, R. Romaniuk, N. Eisenhut, et al.) and were rated #1 early in one of those years. Still, they just never produced (that I recall). Goaltending? Overall bad defense? Gino gone stale and ready for pasture? Just the wrong combination of talent? Some of the GF posters here will have a better idea than I, but I've thought about those teams from time to time this year.
-
He played very well. Been strong lately. Which is good, cause he's gonna see beaucoup pucks in St. Cloud.
-
I meant both teams, but yeah.
-
Inept. Both ways

What is the thought behind going high when the shot is from a ways out? I know butterfly goaltending gets shooters going high, but we seem to always put it up there where the goalie can glove it and prevent rebounds. I realize good goalies can control low shots too, but there have been a lot of shots on goal and no rebounds. If the boys had a better faceoff %, those stoppages might be to our advantage.
-
Thes guys work hard, but they have zero on-ice chemistry when they aren't on the PP.
-
Seems like our boys are skating BY pucks between the bluelines a lot, looking for breakaways and giving up possession in the process. I say seems like.

Water bottle shots are worth extra points?
-
Either way, I'll have my dramamine.
-
What? No floating tiger heads?

Hope this doesn't mean the younger players don't take school seriously, whether it's because they don't expect to be around long or because they just don't care. That said, it's not like they are on probation. -

Not as high and "Johnny Football."
