Silly me; I thought it would be safe to conclude that forwards would feel free to be more aggressive on the forecheck and deep penetration if they had elite goaltender and D behind them. No data or real hockey theory to back it up though, other than the fact that I'm never wrong.
-
One small upside is that the young forwards seemed to improve their defensive play later in the season. OTOH, it's hard to develop an aggressive, attacking offense if you lack confidence in the D and goalie behind you. Hopefully, Jake can get some pickpocketing lessons from his cousin this summer.

Is your petty side as YUGE as mine is?

This FF should have some great hockey.

Great pun

Looks like UM's players were instructed to put more pucks on net. Their wealth of skill gets in their own way sometimes it seems.

Imagine what it's like for 100-level flashbacks. More like a dim glow.
-
And if they do get the pass off, all spaces have closed up. I think they did that under Hak too.
-
Watching these teams play confirms my feeling that our D tend to hold on to the puck forever before passing.

When's the last time you had a scan, Sic? (And I don't mean for virus protection).

OSU goalie giving up rebounds.

They are really skating. Intense. But dam, OSU's helmets are ugly, especially the dumbazz FB stickers. Same as FB, of course, and they are OK, but the color doesn't work with a hockey uni, IMO. It's the important things . . .

Thanks for that. BTW, if I need to be set straight, direct it at me. We would all benefit from being set straight now and then.

Sounds like you're saying the programs hurt by the NIL policy will likely not have the leverage to ensure (through regulation) that the moneys gifted to the players are, in fact, generated from the marketing of that player's image, name or likeness? It's just laundered money from individual and corporate boosters.
-
I'm willing to believe that since I will be the first to admit ignorance on the issue. But if NIL involves the use of the player's name, image or likeness for marketing purposes, how can that marketing effort generate dollars if the marketplace doesn't care much about the name or image being used? You'll probably have to explain it to me like I'm a six-year-old, as Denzel Washington would say.

This year's team showed early on that it is capable of playing a possession game once they get the puck deep. "Capable" being the operative term. -
You guys who make light of poop sandwiches have never even eaten a real poop sandwich.

Since college hockey is such a niche sport, NIL ought to have less impact, though a larger media market like Mpls-Stp that is hockey-centric certainly should have a big advantage over UND or even DU, simply from a marketing standpoint. And don't try to say I'm wrong. A girl gets tired of being wrong all the time.

Looks like Cornell/Denver wasn't all about Denver not coming to play.

Do you think gf would blow that shoebox of dime and nickel rolls he saved from his days on the patch? I figured he would save that for Miley Cyrus posters. -

It's good to hear Judd express confidence in the blue line talent they are bringing in, but D is a steep learning curve for freshmen in D-1 hockey. -
Hardly a bunch of friendlies from a Sioux perspective, but I'd like to see that FF in person.
