  1. Motzko effect? I mean, I think he's a good coach, but . . . wishful thinking maybe.
  2. With unlimited range of weaponry, including nuclear and chemical.
  3. The only Toews-type college players I recall watching play were Thomas Vanek and Dany Heatley. And neither of them played D like he did.
  4. The bowling ball incident was the trigger, but wearing those butt-crack pants all the time didn't help.
  5. Good point, though it seemed to me he had the most trouble handling an aggressive forecheck. Same dynamic as what you described though. He has significant talent. I hope it all comes together for him there.
  6. Though I don't know this to be true, I think he and Berry successfully recruited a lot of elite talent over the years under both Hak and BB.
  7. The one in the crowd there biatching about the popcorn and saying he makes it better at home.
  8. He certainly could be. Sometimes very bad teams have one or two very good players, and that would include goalies. People with more intimate knowledge of his skills, character, and daily performance would probably know.
  9. And The Price is Right. UND, come on down!
  10. I hope he succeeds quickly. A strong Badger hockey program is a good thing. That was a FUN rivalry. And as a long term WI resident, I can say that the big majority of Wisconsin hockey fans felt that way about it too.
  11. We may have some hate for DU fans and players, but they don't stink like rotting flesh the way gopher fans and players do.
  12. Is it OK now to wonder if they might not lose a game next year? Not likely, I suppose, but with just 1 more successful portal add and a little puck luck . . . .
  13. Bubswinkle pulled a goalie out of his hat!
  14. I'd say yes, but for reasons unrelated to Natasha. Who is hot.
  15. Works. Motzko is Boris Badenov? These posts will confirm our age, Sic.
  16. Bubs as Bullwinkle: "Nothin' up my sleeve . . ."
  17. In a way, though, unranked teams are more dangerous in the pairwise and truly have “must win” implications. A loss to UMn wouldn”t be fatal; a loss to Canisius could be. On the other hand an underdog win against the goofs would be a springboard, while a win against Can would just help us tread water. the big risk I can see is an azzkicking by UMn or BU would not be good for an inexperienced goalie’s mojo early in the season, which would make us vulnerable to the unranked teams on the schedule.
  18. I'll bet you hate ice cream cones and county fairs too. And kittens too, now that I think of it.
  19. Looks like our freshmen D will be asked to grow up fast. Hopefully, their on-ice IQ will enable them to slow the game down sooner than most.
  20. So we're a more mature group. What of it? BTW, please trap me, if you must, in a world where Elvis still lives. Yeah, I know . . .
  21. We are all around you: your milkman, the man who tunes your car, who rents you your videos, who repairs your shoes, who designs your check blanks. We're everywhere, and our voice is strong, if just a little muted. .
  22. To say nothing of the fact that we ss.com experts ought to have some say in the matter.
  23. How do you assess goalies? They are all so weird, as you well know.
  24. I'm sure it affects uncommitted recruits, especially the younger ones, to see some programs getting top commits and transfers. A little of the Ivy League effect. Which programs are perceived to be at the top of that heap in any given year or years is a little cyclical, I suppose. UMn is bound to be pretty consistently up there, given the number of elite players growing up there.
  25. Can't say I've seen or heard any pops, but there have certainly been some bulges showing.
