Quenneville fired by Blackhawks... Brad Berry hired as replacement.!

You guys are geniuses. -
That guy can play.

Yeah, it's really hard to judge those situations fairly. Great players help their teams win, but some franchises . . . . Archie Manning comes to mind.

North Dakota vs. Minnesota in Las Vegas - October 2018

And more . . . -
Part of that is the team he is playing for.

Greg Johnson played with Dixon Ward for at least two years. Were they ever linemates? If so, that line would be up there among the better ones. Almost 500 points between just those two. Gary Valk and Neil Eisenhut also played during that same general time period.

You are right. Harsh is better.

College hockey is a fickle mistress. When she picks you, everything is roses. When she picks someone else (which is usually), it's all thistle.

It's always nice to see the gophers experience adversity, especially the kind that often hurts us so much. But it is sure a treat to be able to watch players like Mittlestadt, Heatley, etc. play before they become pros. And I'm sure most hockey fans from other schools would say the same about our players likeToews, Parise, Boeser, etc.

Michigan hockey has not been elite since hula hoops.

Nice when new signees can join other alums with the big club, like Schmaltz with Toews, Boesser with Stecher, and Gersich with Oshie. I'm sure there are a lot of similar examples.
-
There you go. And those numbers really could not have surprised anyone going into the season, either. Guys like Boeser and Schmaltz brought us a banner, but they left holes when they left, along with others. Schmaltz is turning into a key part of Chicago's offense, and Boeser was headed for ROY. Those guys don't come along very often. Time to build back.

How many times did guys have passes from Rocco pass right through them they were not ready for?

Wilbur has done well.

Knew I'd catch it for the comments on Hextall and Prpich, and I'm not saying I'd prefer a lot of the guys on this team to them. Just responding to comments that UND has regrettably lost its physical intimidation factor. It's just not as simple as wanting the old style back. I liked those guys too.
-
I'm happy if we have guys like Caggiula and Patton over physical/instigators from a while ago, like Prpich. This is a different game than it was 15 years ago, and the stick work and cross checking (even "finishing" checks) are just as likely to put you a man down as accomplish any kind of intimidation. And I'm OK with that-- UND can benefit from it. We did in '16. We all want our team to play a physical game, but playing smart, with the new enforcement trend, is more important, IMO. Prpich and even Hextall would fare less well in today's game. They were fun to have, but that kind of play won't win a banner nowadays. Give me speed, hustle, skill and smarts. That will intimidate.

I'm optimistic that Guch is going to be a player. He might be one of those whose "ice intelligence" takes a while to develop. The game seemed to slow down a little for him the last part of the season. That kind of development is important for this group, because they need guys who can score. That's why Mismash's development next year will also be very important. I say those things without regard to team culture factors.

That's far too stupid to be anything but a troll. Speaking of getting our mojo back: the trolling here has really become weak. They used to intimidate.
-
I never did think Hextall would get very far in professional hockey.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season

That's good, MM. Second place would be a weak, wet fart. -
I'll be real interested to see how Kawaguchi improves next year. He's a potential difference maker and he seemed to be coming around.

This one time? At bondage camp?

Do they have long forearms and sloping foreheads?

Ahem. Ahh . . . it wasn't exactly Blackheart, MM. You gotta understand . . .
