I have to say I don't quite understand. We knew when this season began that we would have less talent at forward than we have had for a long time. We were average. So it goes the way most people knew it could go (not would but could), and we are falling all over ourselves trying to find blame. I understand disappointment, but . . .
I haven't seen games in person this year, but the game really seems to be slowing down for Kaw. Is that a fair statement for you guys who have been at the games. TV is great, but you don't see a lot.
Aside from trouble getting into the zone on the PP, this year they just don't have a puck possession player at forward. Major difference from recent past
For every complaint that we don't attract high-end talent anymore, we need acknowledge that developing players so they can leave early (to a pro contract) will help make the program more appealing to high end talent. It hurts short term, but the benefits are surely there for future recruiting.
Unless I'm wrong.
As long as our destiny is in our own hands, you can't ask for much more. We haven't played like a tournament team much of the time this seasonr, so having to prove ourselves this coming weekend is fair, IMO.
I hope we get DU or SCSU then. If we can't beat them next weekend there is no reason to think we can beat them in the tourney.
And playing CC has little upside. They showed last year at times and again this year that they can be dam tough, yet beating them might not give us anything. All risk little gain with them.
Bring on SCSU.
