  1. True. All teams work through injuries, and it always seems like our own are more plentiful and more serious.
  2. Power play hasn't scored, but the movement has been very good.
  3. There you go. That's a big reason why people might choose to stay at home.
  4. Using your veteran status in an attempt to add credibility to your opinion is not much more than false patriotism. My father was awarded the silver star, as I'm sure a number of other posters' family members were, and he NEVER used it as a means to gain credibility on matters of opinion or policy. In fact, he never discussed the war at all. He just served honorably.
  5. Good to hear. Watching can be deceiving sometimes. Wins and losses tend to affect how we see things. If they are possessing the puck well, together with what appears to be a very good D corps, this team might have a pretty high ceiling. The goal tending has been solid. A lot has to happen, of course.
  6. One thing this team has shown it can do which the last two years' teams didn't do much of is maintain possession. It's not a Toews , Schmaltz or even a Kristo doing it--it's just a case of more players having the quickness and hands to make it happen during their shift. There is probably data out there to confirm whether this is true or not, but that's what the eye test seems to show.
  7. I began watching Sioux hockey in the Earl Anderson-Jim Cahoon years, and Waselovich was in net for the last couple of years I was an undergrad. I can't for the life of me remember who was in net before him. Whoever it was would have seen a lot of rubber. For you, Sprig, those were roughly D. Overbo years too, if I recall. Boy had a heater.
  8. If your child, for whom you and your partner are the source of all knowledge, understands at seven that you are wrong on some things, you are parenting well, Wilbur. He will become an expert on the subject before he returns to that place where he understands again how many times you are right or close to it. But you are a goalie and therefore weird, so ordinary rules probably don't apply to you.
  9. Didn't know they were skating 10 freshmen, but seeing how they did have some speed and worked hard, but just couldn't "catch up" to the pace, that makes complete sense. Good point to make at this point in the season.
  10. Miami played hard the whole game, and they have some skaters too. But as Farce pointed out, our position play was excellent.
  11. Really appreciate your efforts on this thread every week, cberkas
  12. What I've noticed is that Berry has figured out how to change from a guy who can't get his players to pass well and play hard for a full 60 to a guy who has his young team playing very well together. He must have read a bunch of books in the last three weeks.
  13. Young Shaw was right about this defense. It really has potential. Good skaters.
  14. Anybody see the Mismash penalty? Sounded like a bonehead play.
  15. Give Miami credit--they kept at it.
  16. It's been a while since we've seen possession hockey. This team has shown signs, even though they don't have any one person who can dominate.
  17. Boy, nice speed, stick work, and possession.
  18. Camera work good also.
  19. I'm almost afraid to ask: How is Miami's cameraman? I have some pretty awful memories of bad camerawork, but it might have been Western Mich.
  20. His skills are great. His work ethic is very good. You can tell he cares. He has come miles from where he was as a freshman, but it's as if his on-ice intuition has not yet fully kicked in. If and when it does, he'll really be a force, IMO.
  21. Kawaguchi is much improved, but there is still more upside there, IMO. He hasn't turned his own, personal corner yet.
  22. Wise words. And there will always be bad bunses. A good recruit will have the character to work through them. These people who think recruit walkabouts are just leisure activity had better sit up and pay attention, or we will be back to the Hakstol era before you can say "no banner."
  23. Sloppy passing? Hmmmmm
  24. Farce is right. Most of the gun violence is south side and among gangs about drugs. That's part of the pity--that people don't care as long as it's the other people who are getting killed. I have a daughter who lives and works not far from Wrigley who feels completely safe (and walks to and from work, often at night).
