    Duluth at UND

UMD beats itself Saturday for a Sioux sweep!!!!
  2. Goon, in more than one way this looks like your handiwork. Posing as a disgruntled Bison fan were you?
  3. I'm so naive that I never associated "Black Betty" with skin color. Just never thought of it that way. For me it was a reference to her disposition as much as it could have been anything else. It just never occured to me to think otherwise. I've loved that song from WAY back. Ever since I heard of this controversy, however, there's only one way I've thought of that reference. Thank you so much to those who decided to make this into something "important".
  4. That's a general rule? Didn't know that.
  5. I was a little surprised to see Tech tie you on Sat. Speaking of Irmen, that got me thinking of Sonmor because he interviewed Irmen between periods on Sat afternoon. During the game, Tech scored a goal which was waved off because the whistle had apparently blown. They went to review the play, and Sonmore says to Wally "Don't you get the sense we're going to get the shaft here?". I don't want to turn this into commentary about homer announcers. That thread has already been done and frankly MN's announcers don't bother me. I just thought this comment by Glen was worth a mention as it made me laugh.
  6. I believe David Hale could have gone a year earlier than he did as well.
  7. I might be all wrong but of all the early departure prospects it seems to me Smaby would leave the biggest void.
  8. This is very good. Sounds like UND is making great efforts to do good things. Good for Kupchella, and good for the Tribes who are willing to see what good can come of this. If this is successul in the long run, it will a very postive outcome. I will only regret that the NCAA will take slap their own backs for it.
  9. Thanks, I was thinking Henderson was one but couldn't come up with the 3rd. THAT was the best checking line that I remember wearing a Sioux uni.
  10. I think I heard Hennessey reference this on a recent broadcast, but wasn't sure if I understood the reference.
  11. Didn't Gino take a struggling program to the National Championship game his first year or so? My first year of awareness of Sioux hockey was 1984-85. I was pretty much out of touch 1988-1995 or so. My picks for: PLAYER THAT STANDS OUT ABOVE THE REST: Tony Hrkac. Wow. BEST UNHERALDED DEFENSEMAN: Curtis Murphy & Matt Jones BEST OFFENSIVE DEFENSEMAN: Travis Roche BEST GOAL SCORER: Hmmm....Bob Joyce or Brandon Bochenski FAVORITE PLAYER YOU LOVE TO HAVE ON YOUR TEAM BUT OPPONENT HATES: Jason Blake/Mike Prpich BEST FIGHTER/ALL AROUND TOUGH GUY: Archie BEST ALL-AROUND FORWARD: Zach Parise PLAYER I'D BE IF I COULD: Kevin Spiewak TEAMS I WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN: 1979-1984 PLAYERS I WISH I WOULD HAVE SEEN: Greg Johnson, Teeder Wynne, Nick Naumenko, Dixon Ward BEST FIGHT: Commie/Brooks (Oh, why did I tape over that game?) HIT THAT STANDS OUT: Ryan Bayda in the 2000 Final Five game with Wisconsin BEST AURA: Commie BEST HOBEY RUNNER-UP: Jeff Panzer BEST CHECKING LINE CENTER: Adam Calder (wish I could remember his 1997 line) PLAYERS WHO DESERVE HONOR THAT I SOMEHOW HAVE NOT FOUND A SPOT FOR: Scott Dub
  12. Matt Smaby anyone?? Poor Sparky
  13. I don't think it will be any more difficult for a UND player to win it than any other player.
  14. I continue to be impressed with Hakstol from reading the coaches show. I thought tonite's show was very informative. Tell me this is not a leader:
  15. No, they did not "quickly" put an end to that. It happened my whole college career at UND and I'm sure before and after. It should still be happening.
  16. This was right by where we were sitting. In the annals of obscure big plays, this one still sticks out. I have a hard time remembering too many specifics of most games, but I remember this one. I remember Armbrust shooting the puck in '97 too.
  17. You mean this year, or any year? If you mean this year, then that's obvious. Not one member of the Sioux team is playing at a Hobey level, IMO. If you mean no one on that list EVER could, then you and I disagree.
  18. I was just joshing rayman03 for not looking it up for himself. I agree that a few of those points may have been scored when the players were at forward, but the overall affect wasn't worth having to go and check them out. Thanks for doing that!
  19. Here you go Redwing. I'm just kidding! Last Year Total Points = 136g + 223a = 359 total points Last Year Defensemen Points = 19g + 65a = 84 total points Fuher 7-22-29 Jones 6-11-17 Schneider 2-8-10 Greene 2-8-10 Bina 0-9-9 Radke 1-2-3 Smaby 1-2-3 Foyt 0-2-2 Marvin 0-1-1
