Yes, it's great to read/listen to Hak because we're getting a little bit more of the "unvarnished truth". (where is that guy, anyway?)
-
That's one of the best things posted on this site in a few months, maybe more.
-
That's one heck of a deal!
-
HAHA! Wouldn't be surprised if they sponsored those eventually too. Pretty much everything else is sponsored.
-
Then the NCAA could adopt it as the official car of their championships.

This is great for humor, and for Greene's reputation. But I'm still in awe over what a close call this was for him.
-
Watching 2 chicks slap each other around...now THAT'S entertainment!
-
He's missing Jan Ganglehoff to help him with that stuff.
-
Greene should get a Jeep grill tatooed on his chest.
-
Wow. Thank God he's ok. That's as close a call as you can have.

I appreciate your view of the situation and your unimpeachable optimism at all times, NDH, but they showed a nice replay of the Toews penalty on tv from a camera right in the corner where it happened and Toews absolutely meant to trip the guy. I hate to say it, but it was just a dumb play on his part. The only time this year I can say that, which isn't bad for a freshman, but thems the facts.
-
Mean streak? Can't say I've seen that from him at all.

Probably not in the cards for me this weekend but I'll look for you if I am. -

If the Sioux are televised on FSSN in GF they have always been on at Sensers to my knowledge. I've never showed up there only to find out it's not on, though I don't go all the time. I don't want to speak for this weekend, but I'd say the chances are excellent. -
Yes, we'll need to take care of business then. But they have helped us out to this point.
-
Sorry, Ike. I've seen way too many bad performances at Senser's vs good. I headed down for the last 2 periods and for a while it looked like I wouldn't jinx anything, but then the 3rd period happened. I don't recall when things started to change in the 3rd period, but it seemed like Denver was all over the Sioux and the Sioux looked a little tired and played without an edge for most of the time. Now maybe this happened after Toews horrible tripping penalty, or maybe it had started earlier and that just helped Denver out. Regardless, though the Sioux and the refs put the Sioux at a penalty disadvantage, I didn't think the Sioux played very well at all down the stretch. Odd man rush after odd man rush......Maybe altitude and fatigue played a role in that 3rd period as well. Toews tripping penalty has already been adequately discussed. A terrible decision by the youngster that marred an outstanding weekend for him. I'm not sure if that really turned the tide or not, however. It might just have contributed. The call against Lee was horrible. No wonder the guy won't hit anybody. He finally takes the body on a legit body check and puts his guy down at center ice and get's called for holding? Unreal how bad that one was. Awesome deflection by Stastny on DU's 3rd goal. How he managed to deflect it from center on top of the crease into the upper right corner was a thing of beauty. Parise's 4th goal against was stunning. I have no clue what he was doing and I suspect he didn't either. If it's true that he pulled himself after his last goal I'm not surprised. He seemed to be completely off kilter and allowed plenty of net for that shot to go in. He's been so good it's hard to be critical. Hopefully he's back on for his next game. However, the Sioux allowed WAY too many chances against Parise, and if he had been great, I don't know if the outcome would have been very different. I didn't see the first 2 goals, so don't know about those. REALLY bothers me that we always allow DU satisfaction in the end. They get to 2nd our seasons 2 years in a row, and this year we get Friday's game, and get a bit chippy, and they come back and take the Sat game in a big way and get to walk off with their smug smiles on their faces. Man, that sucks.

Again, I think we have a situation where there are 2 or 3 top candidates who have outdistanced themselves from their peers. Arguments can be made for those top couple on who should be the final choice. I'd love to see Oshie or even Toews win but there's no way to dispute that Kessel's points in conference are 50% greater than Oshie's based on 7NT's post. Points scored are a more objective measure than whether someone backchecks or plays "both ends" or not. And how many of us have watched Kessel of late to know how much worse he does than Oshie or Toews in that respect? How do you balance 10 more assists vs. a deficiency in his own end? Is he so bad that Oshie can make up for 10 assists? Or is Oshie so good in other aspects of the game that he could make up a 15 assists deficit? Does Kessel do anything that Oshie does not? I'm not making the case that Kessel SHOULD win over Oshie, but if he does, I find it hard to be critical of the choice as well. He's had a very good season, and is a worthy candidate. Like others have said, I don't know that we would trade our guys for Kessel, but that doesn't mean he's not a deserving player too.

How close to death was Robbie Bina?

Big kiss on the lips to Mankato for helping us out 2 weeks in a row. I hate them, so it's a love/hate thing for me.

I love the way you phrased that!

One of the many reasons it's best that some of us are posters, and not players.

I showed up at UND in 1984. Didn't know that much about college hockey having grown up in NE South Dakota. Sodak Sioux Fan and I would drink beers whenever the North Stars scored a goal in the playoffs. But college? Who knew what fun was to be had? So when I got to UND I found out about this hockey team that I had to see. Didn't take me more than a game to get hooked. I went to a few football games, no basketball games, but every home hockey game WITHOUT FAIL (unless I was home on break) in the 3 years I was there. I remember stopping by practice on occasion after class. What a great way to wind down and soak up some atmosphere. I still have a practice puck I picked up in the old REA from the Hrkac Circus. Go to the Spud in the afternoon for Buck Pitchers, get back to the dorm before the dining room closed, and get to the rink for game time. Of course, your routine was different for gopher series if you had to get in line. My last year it was having a few guys over to our house on Columbia for tacos before the game. We were so poor everyone had to chip in to buy their share of burger. One friend lived in those little white quanset style rooms right behind the Winter Sports Center (later to be the REA) so occasionally between periods we'd run there for a beer. Doing homework until midnight, then grabbing my skates and going to a neighborhood rink to learn how to skate (barely) in the darkness. Man, what a great way to end a day. The decision to attend UND certainly affected my life in many ways. My Sioux hockey obsession continued on after I left, and while it was beginning to falter for lack of a connection when I left town, the internet brought it all back close. I have friendships from school that were initially probably only maintained because of the connection to hockey that have grown into family friendships now. I've met more people that I consider friends or strong acquaintences through Sioux hockey in the last 10 years than I have from any other means. Sioux hockey has even had an impact on me in the business world relative to customers, coworkers, etc. I guess my post moved off topic some, but it seemed a natural progression.

Seems threads are pretty much on the straight and narrow until you see a jk post.......

Before I realized how badly hurt Robbie was, I was screaming bloody murder at Paukovitch about what a cheap arse he was. I hope you weren't the Sioux fan right behind me telling me that I wouldn't be saying that to Paukovitch's face. That guy sat directly behind me, and his point wasn't very relevant to the "discussion" at the moment.

Not according to your coach. I too, would prefer to see a loosening of the restrictions, even though I'm not a proponent of adding fighting to the game. Fighters as a strategy? No. Occasionally needing to protect yourself or your teammate? Yes.
