  1. No. I'm not an insider. Just threw out a guess on possible delay. In my work procurement rules can hold up lots of things. Although only one bid can pose different problems.
  2. I interpreted the Miami AD comments about one sport conferences as there was a chance nchc grabs ASU and St Thomas to become Summit hockey and perhaps Miami and Western go back to ccha which would become MAC hockey. East would be muddier with only Ivy League a clear choice although that would likely break up ECAC. Big East would be best brand for Hockry East. No clear option for Atlantic Hockey, maybe revert to MAAC.
  3. Could be a challenge by the unsuccessful bidder. Would hope not the case.
  4. Look at the contracts. The current big 10 deals run to 2030. I think they'll go to 20 in phase 1 for bulk of that contact. Oregon Washington and Stanford would be top choices and adding Cal placate the regents opposing UCLA move. Looking to the next contract in 2030 the ACC schools will only have 6 years left and swallowing a buyout is much easier. They can even let the SEC do the dirty work through ESPN to get Clemson and FSU. Then the Big grabs N Carolina Duke Virginia Pitt Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. If Kansas football is even respectable at that point they pick them off as well possibly Colorado. That gets them to 28 with national coverage and might be enough to lure Texas and Florida, becoming the major league of college sports and boxing the SEC into their home region. They could add Utah and Arizona to go to 32. SEC would be a football league BIG would be an all sport juggernaut. Divisions would be West - USC UCLA Oregon Washington Cal Stanford Arizona. Utah Plains - Colorado Kansas Nebraska Iowa Minnesota Wisconsin Illinois Northwestern Rust Belt - Indiana Purdue Notre Dame Michigan Mich St Ohio St. Penn St. Pitt South- Florida Georgia Tech Duke UNC UVa Maryland Rutgers Texas Don't need an NCAA at that point and they've crushed remaining conferences. Wouldn't be surprised if this or something similar is the long range plan.
  5. BEK starting a news operation in Grand Forks would definitely be an interesting development in the media landscape. Without network affiliation, they could do a statewide newscast that could from from 9-11 Central time, and potentially attract a considerable audience. Could grab a lot of folks that watched WDAZ and KX in Minot.
  6. If the donation was for a ballpark it's not dumb. Binghamton has a great baseball history, both the community and the school. It also has almost 20000 undergrads so not exactly a small school. All of the SUNY schools are trying to up their profiles so maybe they see baseball as a niche.
  7. My uncle worked there and I remember him showing me a "trick" to get free play on the PacMan machine that was there. It was a cool addition to campus. For all the development on campus the lack of a little retail village is the one thing still needing to be addressed
  8. A ponzi scheme not working out, who'da thunk?
  9. That's what 2 plus decades of almost zero interest rates will do. We are definitely on verge of another housing bubble. ND was somewhat insulated in 08-09 due to the influx of oil cash but that won't be the case this go round.
  10. Sure overlook Georgia clemson USC Ohio State. People overrate the SEC but outside of Auburn and Georgia, most of the good teams in opposite divisions rarely play. It's no coincidence that Tennesses huge decline has helped fuel Alabamas rise. If that was a tough game on the schedule each year, the Tide might not roll as easily.
  11. Notre Dame's schedule is plenty legit, look at their upcoming years as well, never plays an FCS game, and if you know the history behind the Navy rivalry game would understand why that will never go anywhere.
  12. Exactly. At this point there is no longer a reason to push for FBS, because all that matters are the Big Ten and SEC. They are essentially another pro sports league now, so trying to compete with that is futile. The million dollar question is how this shakes out for other sports.
  13. Hearing the FOX is going to put in a huge bid for Big Ten an potentially partner with CBS by given them one game a week, similar to what they have now with SEC, along with some basketball. Turner might also be in play. Should be interesting
  14. What does that matter. And ideal setup is an even number of teams in all sports but odd in football. That gives an even home road split for conference games each year.
  15. Add DU to the group as a geographic fit, academic powerhouse, and requisite private school to keep league matters out of the public record.
  16. Maybe Big Ten just decides to go for the AAU kill shot at this point and go to 30 by adding all of these schools: Cal, Stanford, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Tech Arizona, Kansas, Iowa State, Notre Dame Four Divisions West - UCLA, USC, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Arizona Midwest - Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin Great Lakes - Northwestern, Illinois, Notre Dame, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State East - Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Tech They would be the truly national conference and could get an pro league type TV deal. Could essentially break away on their own and not need the NCAA, the SEC or anyone else. This would actually also preserve or restore a lot of traditional rivalries. Such an alignment would probably allow them to poach Texas and Florida to go to an even 32, Texas slots in the Midwest and Florida in the East. All AAU school (except Notre Dame and Nebraska) and with virtually every major media market owned. Likely would also finally rebrand from Big 10 to something like the Premiere Conference or Premiere College Alliance or similar. You can hate on the Big Ten, but they've clearly had a vision and for the most part pulled it off. This would be taking it to the next level, but in the current world of college athletics, anything is possible.
  17. So maybe we will get him after he transfers.
  18. I guess sarcasm doesn't come across well. I was agreeing with you when I mentioned of Rose Bowl MVP from 60 years ago.
  19. Is Texas still in play for the Big Ten? I could see Washington-Oregon and Texas-Notre Dame being the next pairings, with the Big 10 being able to exert some pressure on ESPN then and hurting the SEC in the process. Texas would love to be part of the Big 10 academic alliance vs the far inferior academic reputation of the SEC.
  20. N stands for Knowledge baby.
  21. One thing I would do is add a scramble crossing at University and Oxford/Centennial and use green and white to mark it on the roads. North Dakota's version of Shibuya and a campus photo op.
  22. That guy was a legend. Russ Smith from KXMC as well. My dad and i fished with him when I was a little whippersnapper.
  23. He is only 19. He may take time
