  1. Except that "that team" is the US National Team, not Roseau High or the Lincoln Stars. Context matters. Not saying he is ready, but that's not a compelling argument to say he isn't.
  2. 6 MVC schools also allows them to start a separate league with autobid and screw the Dakota schools. They would certainly include Youngstown as 7. That's why summit football needs to happen
  3. UMD also almost went back to back to back and at a time when that is much harder to do. They have twice as many Frozen Four appearances, and while they didn't win a title they had a very strong stretch in mid 80s. They may not be with the true value bloods but they are a notch above LSSU.
  4. But LSSU did absolutely nothing outside their 88 to 94 stretch. UMD made a final in 84 and have produced the most Hobey winners. They are definitely a notch below the 5 timer club, but trending in right direction. I'd say they are most likely school to be the next to 5. They have been more relevant this century than Wisconsin, Michigan or BU. How they continue after Sandelin's departure will determine if the make the full jump to elite.
  5. I'd bump Denver up to #2, they have titles in 5 decades, second only to UND with six. They have also done it under four coaches. They have conference titles nearly on par with Minnesota and far surpass Wisconsin. BC and BU really are a toss-up, but BC has more Frozen Fours so would give them nod based on that. Weathering coaching departures is probably what makes the elite programs. Michigan couldn't do it after Vic Heyliger, Denver struggled after Murray Armstrong, BU has been inconsistent in post Jack Parker years. BC will be interesting case when York retires (they have struggled in his twilight years). UNDs only down time was the Bjorkman era.
  6. Because st. Cloud had a measure of success in the WCHA that Mankato never had. Mankato has dominated the (W)CCHA, but it's delusional to think the same would have occurred in the NCHC.
  7. I'd like to see just an independent tourney for an autobid. Don't try to shoehorn all these teams into existing conferences. The autobid is key to survival, but if independents can schedule geographically appropriate games they will he fine. For the Alaska schools the exempt games are a big bonus. Alabama in the winter also a nice spot especially if it isn't every year If all leagues went to 22 or 24 game conference schedules that would enhance things more. If the leagues all expand with the new teams interconference games decline and that isn't good for anyone.
  8. Bird in the hand baby. Take the best you can and worry about next year, next year.
  9. A Grand Forks Kroll's would be awesome.
  10. Vermont probably hosting because of Martin St. Louis.
  11. A Hawaiian BBQ place like L&L or Oahu in Bismarck.
  12. Speak for yourself. I get that you can't come to grips that the WCHA days are over. The NCHC came into being to get away from those schools. And if you can't see the appeal of travel to AZ in the winter and how ASU might appeal to Denver and CC, I can't help you. North Dakota isn't the only school in the NCHC.
  13. No thanks on St Thomas. Enough Minnesota presence and they havent proven anything yet. Don't know why people want to dump Western. Great college hockey environment
  14. They should have a huge showing in Wchita. Reasonable driving distance. What a story already and only 2 wins from Final Four in Minneapolis.
  15. They have been in control throughout. They are very efficient in using the clock. Very impressive. Hope they can hold on and advance.
  16. If you are a baseball fan Copperstown is a great off day activity.
  17. No desire to add anyone to NCHC other than ASU. He N in the league name means something. As for the tourney I could see doing something like the ACC basketball tournament being primarily in Greensboro but sprinkling in other locations. Maybe go 3 out of 4 years at the X, using the off year to try Denver, KC, Phoenix and even Vegas.
  18. Underpass also requires supporting both directions of the interstate itself, would effectively be a tunnel.
  19. Agree with all, except make it an overpass rather than underpass
  20. I agree, the non conference schedule was great, but those games were quite a while ago. They kind of run into the same problem as Gonzaga does in hoops. But they are definitely a potent team and if they can run the table would just miss the 40 wins club, very lofty territory.
  21. They scare me because they are the most likely to give you COVID and get you eliminated without losing. I'd like to see Mankato do well, just not sure the CCHA battle hardens them for when it counts.
  22. Penn St. Win tonight would be huge in opening door for UND to grab a one seed. Much prefer to potentially see Denver in Boston than in Loveland. Especially if they end up meeting in Frozen Faceoff. Top two NCHC teams should never be in same regional.
  23. Split the difference. Give top seed s bye to championship and let them host that game and have teams 2 through 9 play for the other spot in Sioux Falls. That way you generate revenue from planned neutral site tourney and have a guaranteed great atmosphere for final which is good for TV and promotion. Also provides a very meaningful reward for winning regular season crown and increases likelihood best team makes it to the dance.
  24. Let him go.
  25. Not sure how UND hasn't already benefited massively from gambling, albeit not locally.
