But he did, and wanted to. It might not have worked, but they gave it a go. If Winnipeg needs leadership, Toews knows how to lead, even if his skills aren’t what they used to be.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/jonathan-toews-brings-stanley-cup-to-winnipeg-on-friday-1.3145560 Are you saying you can’t go home again?

So I noticed that after the USHL switched their website that they didn't have in game stats to follow. Did anyone else find a place where you can follow up to date scoring information, or do you think they will just start that information when the regular season starts.

Yeah, it's kind of funny how gfhockey espouses the "one of us" theme, yet he was completely in Chaves' corner when the AD position was available. He certainly was squarely against the "one of us" candidate, Mannasau!

Wasn’t always pretty, but they did what they had to keep the momentum going and keeping the fan base engaged. Hopefully there are some lessons being learned along the way that they can address going forward.

When is the last time UND had a kickoff returned for a TD?
-
At what point do you realize you have to stop them and be aggressive?

Blake Wheeler removed as Winnipeg Jets captain. Why not try bring in Toews and let him be a captain and mentoring some young guy to take over after he retires?
-
Especially seeing the trajectory of the close field goal that barely snuck in earlier.

My question is, why wasn’t he in that series? Seems like you could have used him running that series and hopefully used the clock where either it would be us that scores, or there wouldn’t be enough time for them to do much, especially given that their kicker has been even worse.
-
We can only hope that is the case, because if this is what we can expect, it’s not good.

Nick Pierre decommits from Wisconsin. Just another example of early recruits not being set in stone. Don’t know if this was based on Wisconsin recruiting more players or Pierre reevaluating where he wants to play.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Some of the people that think we are loaded questioned whether we could get home ice last year, and that we lacked talent. It’s probably never as good as fans perceive, nor never as bad as they perceive. It’s nice to have expectations but with all of the elements that come together on very special teams, it’s probably best to not get too high without seeing if some of those team variables are coming together like team chemistry, freshmen making the perceived impact, and maybe more importantly the other classes taking their games to the next level. -

So you actually believe we could go undefeated? -

I hope this is said tongue in cheek. -
If only our other programs could get to the point where you could consider something a choke. Wait for it ....

We saw how that worked on the move to Division 1. Shouldn't have to learn that lesson twice.

This is one of those weekends where UND has a chance to keep their fans engaged, or start their minds trending towards a "here we go again" thought process. Let's keep momentum and mindset going in a positive direction.

If only we could be more like Fargo, which wants to be more like Minneapolis. Judging by the shootings and other crime, they are making progress. If only we could see such progress.

Agree, we figured it would be packed with only poor seats available, and getting there early always gave an alternative in the past by standing on the catwalk.
-
Just curious, is there anywhere you can stand and watch the game anymore?

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

As we saw from St. Cloud last year, nothing is a given. The pieces are there, but they still need to have done their work over the summer, and chemistry is always huge in the scheme of things. I think bringing back Hain and Senden gives us a good start at maintaining the ethic that needs to be a constant. You can bet a few losses early in the year will have people jumping off the ledge, as that was the case last year with a team almost starting over. Freshmen still have a learning curve, but if they can contribute, I like the returning guys and the transfers to fill in any gaps until they figure it out on both ends. -
Which is why I believe Minnesota was very good last year and should be again this year, especially on the back end. Remember how guys like Johnson, LaCombe etc. got taken to the woodshed by UND in their own building on Thanksgiving a few years back. Well those guys have matured into smart veteran defensemen. Minnesota wasn't a ton better last year because of guys like Lucius and Broz, but because they had a back end that was very formidable. Not only that, Minnesota has a lot more guys willing to step in front of a rocket shot, which hasn't always been the case.
-
To that end, is that skilled draft pick just super talented, or does he have the grit to boot. I certainly can see some guys that are high draft picks that have one foot in the NHL wanting no part of a collision that could end in injury and jeopardize how soon they play at the next level. Hopefully Kleven gives Cooley, etc. pause on digging in the corner when they meet Minnesota this year.

My least favorite take on Sioux Sports is the people who complain about our lack of talent and even after winning a league title continue to complain. "Enjoy the season".
