  1. That, and maybe people in Grand Forks won't take it for granted since it isn't here every year.
  2. From what the Herald said it is going to continue to rotate between Fargo and Grand Forks.
  3. As well as another kick at the can for the World Junior tournament.
  4. Really, talent is down. Who'd have thunk losing 4 guys who are playing in the Big show and replacing them with rookies that we would be down a little? The thing is, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion if the talent you mentioned had been playing, or putting up points in the last several weeks. If you would have told me that through injuries and other factors Boeser would be tied for 86th in the country in goal scoring, I would expect us be struggling for home ice.
  5. If he is trying to be unbiased, I would hate to see his biased announcing!
  6. Apparently ASU wasn't the target. If they plan on waiting until everything shakes out with ASU, they could be waiting quite a while. The last thing the Big Ten needs right now is another drain on their pairwise rankings.
  7. I think that people are kidding themselves if they think the Big Ten isn't going to rise to a higher level in the years to come. Once Wisconsin has a few more years of Granato as coach, they will be contenders once again, and looking at Penn State and some of their future recruits, I think they will as well. Pennsylvania is producing more talent every year, and that will only benefit them. Michigan and Minnesota will continue to get NHL talent. It seems Notre Dame will always be lurking for the NCAA tournament and contend for the Frozen Four on occasion. The question marks are Ohio State and Michigan State. I have a feeling they would be good in cycles much like Western Michigan and CC could. I tend to believe as others, that we would help the level rise substantially, and could help the Big Ten turn the corner as a high power conference. I still am not sure if that is what I would want, as there are pros and cons both ways.
  8. Don't love the pick considering his track record. Hopefully, he is trending in a new direction with the St. Cloud series prediction.
  9. http://www.timescolonist.com/sports/victoria-royals-feel-need-for-speed-in-whl-bantam-draft-1.1928587 This could go on committed thread as well. Interesting Victoria took Luke Bast, then selected Gabe later, hoping he would flip from the NCAA. The article was from 2015, but would imagine Luke would still be a prospect.
  10. Because Minnesota would logically draw more on a yearly basis being they are the hometown team. Subsequently, the NCHC was forced to sign a contract with the Target Center if they wanted their tournament in Minneapolis. I wouldn't doubt that after the contract is up, the "X" could be a very strong possibility.
  11. I would guess that people would contact the Engelstads about the opportunity to move hockey conferences and the fee that would go along with it. If the Engelstads thought it was something that would be best for the hockey program going forward, they might help defer those costs.
  12. A lot of people didn't even want St. Cloud invited into the NCHC, and if you believe the report that Duluth would be invited next if UND turned it down, then it's basically a wash because CC, Miami, and Western don't inspire much passion from our fanbase either.
  13. I just think people are so gun shy about things that you would think would be common sense with the whole nickname issue and dropping of sports that they may think administration will say one thing and do another.
  14. This is a message board, so expressing concerns is allowed, especially after the egg left on the face of some when South Dakota didn't join the Big Sky like they were supposed to, and now we are switching conferences again. People were supposed to be looking out for UND then as well. Then having to ask St. Cloud to join the NCHC when Notre Dame made demands. I think people just want to avoid those type of scenarios.
  15. If UND went to the Big Ten, I would hope they would change the campus sites tournament and have the tourney at the "X". I know Michigan, etc. wouldn't like that, but they didn't exactly show up in force at Detroit.
  16. I could see this as a possibility, as adding Notre Dame was good for Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State, as far as name recognition, North Dakota would do the same for hockey fans of Minnesota and Wisconsin. If indeed other members of the NCHC would be asked if North Dakota turns the Big Ten down, then it could result in other moves that might not be beneficial to UND in the long run. I would hope that guarantees would be part of the deal, especially concerning other Big Ten teams joining down the line.
  17. Agree, it would be cheaper to fly to a game when there are seats to be had at the Ralph for a game to watch your favorite team. If you just want to be able to party in Las Vegas, you can do that any time.
  18. I agree, it wouldn't have hurt to do that, but let's face it, a lot of the people that would have been purchasing those general public tickets, got tickets through their friends that are in the Champions Club. I have no problem having more tickets for some people around the country that can't get to home games frequently, but there are many people around town that never go to a live hockey game at the Ralph, yet are first in line to complain that they can't get tickets to a "Special Event". Some of those special event only fans got tickets from their Champions Club friends as well, leaving less in the pool for others. I don't know what the answer is.
  19. ... and they have kept that demand and fervor for tickets at a high level. You can bet the next time there is an event like this, every Champions Club member will take their allotment, and if put in a larger facility, the general public won't sleep on getting tickets fast just because there will be that much more seating.
  20. I think a lot of people were shocked at how many UND fans were at Madison Square Gardens. This was all planned before that.
  21. After watching a regional at the "X" with UND and Minnesota only draw about 10,000, I wouldn't be certain that 10,000 in Vegas would be a guarantee.
  22. Not saying he won't get a pro offer, but CC has had goalies in the past that would seem to steal games, but sometimes that doesn't translate to the next level. A lot more pressure on someone like Cam, where there is an expectation to win. Leclerc gives up a few goals and loses, and it is just another loss. It also seems like it is easier to get into a rhythm when you get shots frequently. That said, Leclerc has been impressive.
  23. Yet we apparently have most of the fan base that can afford Vegas?
  24. Yeah, I don't believe that the Orleans Arena is a Mecca either, but everyone is complaining they can't get tickets. If UND can't fill the Target Center for games that might be crucial for getting UND in the NCAA tournament, why should administration be confident that they should move up to a different arena in Vegas? I feel bad for some of those that couldn't get tickets for Vegas, but others, not so much.
