It's called sandbagging!

Would be nice if we would start winning again when we are on National TV, which we are on CBS sports on Friday. Let's get the one tonight, and worry about Saturday tomorrow.
-
I guess I don't know why people are so up in arms about this. If NDSU isn't truly sold on this guy, and are going to give up a full scholarship for him just to block UND, it would seem that would be a recipe for a serious downturn in their fortunes. It may also be their new coach is worried about the backlash from their rabid fanbase if he turns out to be a stud at UND or wherever he ends up. Don't know if you can recruit like that and continue to be the cream of the crop.
-
Personally, I don't think you fix any of that, because it isn't exclusive to UND, it is a microcosm of society today. That stuff is our culture today. You need look no further than most reality TV shows that thrive off of conflict. Unless every team is winning championships, there will always be a fire ____ thread. Think about it, we had Hakstol that people wanted fired, all the athletic directors since Carl Miller, all the University Presidents since Clifford, and just about all the coaches from every sport, and frankly it isn't going to change, as we are in a society that requires constant gratification. I'll admit, I get wrapped up in the win now or else mindset, but I think we have to take a step back from that and realize that you don't want to keep going down that road of needing to fire coaches, or else you will end up being like Minnesota Gopher or Cleveland Browns football. There are coaches that need to be fired, but to not even give them a full recruiting class to prove themselves seems a bit over the top. Hopefully, cooler heads prevail, but there is so much more pressure as administrators with rabid fan bases, and our culture isn't helping matters much with social media being so much of a factor in all of that.

Isn't the Ralph itself an extravagance that nobody else in the country has? You wonder why Ralph set up the things the way he did, and it is the very thinking that it is fine to let the Ralph become average and let everyone else keep updating to become better. Other teams have gotten new scoreboards and locker rooms and such, but ours are fine would be the reply. "Fine" is not what they were looking at when they built the Ralph, anybody knows that when they walk inside, so why is it shocking to people when they take steps to keep it at the top of college hockey? I don't recall people screaming "do they really need the marble floors", "why do they need a million dollar pipe organ", "why do they need a fascia ring that nobody else has", "why do they need a therapy pool"...

They can complain that football alumni appear to not care as much as hockey alumni. Some football alumni with some pretty deep pockets, and apparently don't care that the program is lacking amenities. Nevermind the fact how many more football alumni there are.

...and the people that thought that hockey wasn't going to be priority # 1 with Ralph and his family, including the people that were at the table when the arena contracts were first drawn up, are/were completely detached from reality.
-
Obviously what they are doing with the scoreboard is permitted, so why are people complaining. I hope they do upgrades like this as often as possible.
-
With our luck we will sweep a couple of the harder teams then lose to Omaha and CC, then have to face the prospect of facing those hard teams again in the Frozen Faceoff to make the tourney.
-
...and we know how St. Cloud and Minnesota State swallowed up all the extra UND fan's tickets in Sioux Falls.
-
And sometimes it works the opposite way. I remember Nolan Patrick saying he always wanted to play for the Fighting Sioux, yet when push came to shove, he ended up playing for Brandon.
-
So they are going to put the 4 old video boards in the 4 corners of the upper deck?
-
So are all the banners above the ice surface now? The rendering shows some up above the student section in the upper deck. Maybe the scoreboard will obstruct the view of some of the banners.
-
Couldn't tell if we were outshooting them or not though.
-
The obsession isn't one sided. Don't ever recall people complaining that the football team never used the old logo on their helmets.

We hear post game all of the time about having passengers and selfish penalties, however I don't recall guys sitting for those issues. I'm sure it has happened at some point, but I recall guys continuing to take dumb penalty after dumb penalty with no consequence. I was heartened when Mismash sat the second game against Canisius only to find out it was due to injury. Way too much talent there to continue to operate with little intensity resulting in lazy passes and not bearing down on chances. Hate to single him out, but that seems to be the most glaring based on what we saw from him early last year when it looked like he would be the next star forward we are missing, someone who takes the team on their shoulder down the stretch of close games, preventing disasters like Canisius.
-
Paul LaDue with the game winning goal for the Kings today. Maybe he should be playing more since they don't seem to be doing much otherwise.
-
Yes, where is Schlossman when you need him? He sure put it out there when the record was good, but the last few years it seems 50/50.
-
He's not exactly ripping it up in Minnesota High School hockey with his size. Will be interested to see where he lands and how much he produces his first year.
-
That is the huge concern. They came out of Christmas last year in decent shape as well, only to lose a number of games they should have won. This is the second year in a row where they have lost pairwise ground after Christmas. Say what you want about how Hakstol's teams started, but they improved almost every year after the break. Now we seem to regress after the break. That flat out shouldn't happen with the younger teams we have had.
-
Who'd have ever imagined we would be comparing ourselves to Boston College in the negative sense, instead of "why can't we be like Boston College"!
-
Actually, 0-3-1 against Bemidji and Canisius.

He’s a piece of work!

This message board begs to differ!

That top line has almost as much offense as our top 8 players, so that much scoring goes a long way. And their next 3 highest scorers after the KHL line has 38 points compared to 42 points for our top 3 scorers.
