Yeah, you usually can't sit the stars if they aren't playing up to expectations like you can in college. When Hakstol did that, he was crucified by the fans for sitting Gostisbehere. Turns out he became a better player when he was more responsible defensively. The thing is, if the stars don't want to play, it is hard to get much accomplished, and oh yeah, having a major league goalie could help as well.

https://www.ushl.com/news_article/show/977986 This article makes it sound like a couple years in Dubuque. Seems to have a little Drake Caggiula in him with tenacity, size, skill and speed. Hopefully, he is a diamond in the rough as well.
-
The few recruiting sites have him coming in next year. Maybe they don't mind having a few extra guys around after the injury bug has had us with two defensive transplants at forward.
-
I think it is smart to start bringing in a guy or two every year that has a lot of junior experience to supplement the young 18 or 19 year old kids we have coming in. Some of them are bound to have a learning curve like we have seen from quite a few guys. You look at this guys numbers without many power play points, and he has put up nice numbers at even strength. Of course, we certainly could use a few guys that can help us with our power play as well, but I'm guessing if Schmaltz, Boeser, Caggiula, Stetcher and/or Poolman and LaDue can't rip it up on the power play, there may be a little more to it.

Texas State? I could deal with losing him to a Nebraska or the sort, but Texas State would be a gut shot.
-
They will be freshmen, so you never know, but hopefully they transition well to the next level. Hain and Weatherby haven't lit it up yet, but they have enough talent that they will put it together. Hopefully that starts the second half of this season.

Watched part of the game between Canada East and Canada West, and Bast really impressed me with his poise with the puck on the power play. Reminds me a bit of Chay Genoway.

Maybe citizens with plows should take matters into their own hands and plow as they make their way down the road. Of course the state probably has enough money to pay highway patrol to bust them. Seriously, if a busload of Fargo kids are involved in an accident coming back from games in Grand Forks, will it then become an issue, or do they have escort plows for them in that circumstance. This is the INTERSTATE, not smaller highways we are talking about. What better way to say "Welcome to North Dakota" than brutal road conditions that can get you killed.
-
Don't know where to put this, but just heard on WDAZ news the highway department doesn't have enough money to plow the Interstate at night around Grand Forks because they don't have the manpower or funds, but they do around Fargo. Would be interested to know the budget in other cities around the state. If the roads aren't safe they should be closing them, rather than risk a tragic accident. Where are our state representatives in issues like these? We pay more and more taxes, for less services.

I get a kick out of people that rip North Dakota, yet live here. We all grumble about the weather and such, but I would hope that there is a reason we live here, as nobody is forcing us to. Some of the same people that rip on North Dakota are the same ones that are complaining that the coaches aren't bringing in enough talent. Well, if North Dakota is so bad, I would assume it would be hard to recruit to as well. The Bison seem to being doing well in that regard though.

Didn't we have to sneak out a 1-0 win against Denver at the Frozen Faceoff to work our way in?
-
If you can point out to me anywhere where I said that, or anything near that, I would appreciate it.

So Klieman doesn't deserve a chance? I guess we'll truly find out if Miles is head and shoulders above Klieman in the next several years.
-
Agree, just because someone comes from a big time school doesn't mean they will do any better. At some point all the big time coaches started somewhere down the ladder as well, so whats to say Klieman doesn't follow suit. He sure knows how to run a professional program, and the fact that you can keep a team focused on winning for that long is quite an attribute, either that or their talent level is so far beyond everyone else. Either way, it reflects well on Klieman.
-
Yeah, if NDSU recruits power fives, you would think they would be on the radar for K State as well. By the way, I think Klieman could do better than Bohl has done because he seems more of a genuine person who can connect with recruits and their families.

Who knows how that game turns out if Kiersted plays. Need to have some discipline in situations like that, especially when you are shorthanded to begin with.
-
Trey Ausmus with 2 goals, 4 assists tonight as a 9th grader for EGF. Against Park Rapids, but obviously a lot of skill.
-
The confidence seems to come and go, depending on whether they take a lead or not, or are not rewarded for constant pressure.
-
Depending on who we have back this weekend, I would hope the team thinks they can sweep this series, and having to go to Denver the second half, it certainly would help going forward. Denver split with Duluth in Denver, but Duluth outshot them 38-14 in a 2-0 loss, then 45-29 in their comeback win on Saturday. Denver doesn't have Borgstrom, Terry and Gambrell anymore, so it is time to take advantage of a young team, and hopefully their stud goalie has a few nerves playing in the Ralph, although it has been a place for goalies to get back on track lately. A split certainly wouldn't kill us, but even a win and a tie would do wonders for us in the league.

...and we know exactly who they are.
-
And being from around Toronto, it isn't that far for family and friends to watch him play.
-
I think Thome has had more issues when the team is playing consistent in front of them. Both goaltenders have been hung out to dry on occasion by the team abandoning their systems because they fell behind. Thome didn't help matters in that regard by helping Duluth with that delay of game penalty. After that it was all down hill.
-
My contention, that during the review they should have seen the Duluth player chop Kawaguchi on the back of the leg. Why not give him a penalty for intent to injure since he was slashing him where there is no padding?
-
Will take $25 each.

Wisconsin can keep on beating Big Ten teams!
