Exactly. Guys see the chance to possibly play in the Big Dance and figure they can find an easier way to get there. It isn’t really a great situation for the smaller programs or ones that aren’t competitive. At some point it might hurt the overall fanbase for college basketball, and other sports as well. Help develop a player and lose him or her to a better program.

I was kind of surprised we didn’t pick him up after his decommit from Wisconsin.

Omaha needs to find some discipline if they want to beat Minnesota.

Bemidji definitely has a chance, especially if they can score first. Wisconsin had a bunch of guys out with Covid protocol and Holloway at World Junior camp when they played Arizona State.

Mankato was playing well going in plenty of times and flamed out, so maybe this is their year to do something when they aren’t predicted to move on.

Notre Dame is a similar team with how they play, and Wisconsin played well against them.

Dylan Holloway is a pretty big boy, with tons of skill.

So, having a team in your region that was a borderline #1 seed is a cakewalk?

Let’s hope he doesn’t play lights out the rest of the tournament like he did after a less than stellar opening game in the World Juniors.

Yeah, from what I gathered he had a connection to UND through one of Rick Wilson’s sons (not Landon), coaching him in Texas.

When looking at defensive plus minus leaders in the USHL, I noticed that Brent Johnson was high among the leaders at +18, but it looks like none of the other defensemen on Sioux Falls have a positive plus minus. That doesn’t seem logical, but if the numbers are accurate could be a good indicator of why he is highly regarded.

Maybe diminished expectations by others makes it easier to break through in the NCAA tourney. Just don’t do it in our region. Don’t know if they would give the Big Ten another #1 seed based on the loss to Northern or not.

... and one more in the top six that hasn't arrived yet, unless Luke Hughes has since chosen to go the Major Junior route. Managing a roster that will have that frequent turnaround has got to be tough, especially if many end up being one and dones. I imagine communication on what their plans are is crucial in knowing what your roster is going to look like, but we've seen sometime the NHL teams can change their minds rather quickly.
