There is a reason for the accusation every time you post.

I don't get the negative spin of UND looking to cut sports. Anyone looking at our athletic dept. should be able to realize we sponsor way to many sports programs. The reason NDSU isn't looking to cut teams is because they can't cut any teams if they want to continue to offer the glimmer of hope of an FBS move. Talk about setting the ball on the tee for Larsen to hit out of the park and get a good quote in the paper. Wouldn't expect anything less from the Forum. Kolpack never bothers to take the knee pads off.

We also have all bigs back next season which will be key. Jones (or staff) will have to look at adding a F/C Juco in the next couple years to go along with Avants at the 5 and we will have Collins or Walter at the 4. That lineup will be able to matchup in the Summit today, not sure how teams will look in '18.

UND's new radio home in southern RRV: KFGO and KFAN

I tried to find BisonDans comment from a while back about FU football carrying KFGO. I couldn't find that old thread. -
He was money today. Made huge plays down the stretch.

UNC took some terrible shots towards the end of regulation. Great job battling by UND. Lots of little plays that made a difference.
-
That was brutal. You see that at noon ball. Lay up barely catching iron.
-
But I agree. He needs to become some form of a threat on offense. Right now he is pass first
-
Cause we don't have a 4th guard to give any minutes.

Drick doing a lot of the little things now. Having a nice game.

I know a lot of people who have either purchased season tickets for the first time or upped their total. Last years success and the MVFC announcement lit some fires.

Mens and women's track and field have one of the nicest indoor facilities in the US to train in. It not like any UND sports are lacking on facilities, other than Hyslop.
-
Mid major conferences that have become multiple bid conferences have non FBS schools that have all made their basketball programs the number one focus and have invested heavily in coaching and facilities. While there are new facilities in the Summit the overall investment in basketball isn't their yet from all programs. Same could be said for the Big Sky. Could they be a two bid league everyone else in a while, sure. Why not but the same could be asked of every conference. It starts with getting into the tourney and winning some games. Not being a one and done every year.
-
Anything is possible but every other low major conference is shooting for the same thing. I guarantee that was the goal of the big sky as well regardless of how realistic it is but it takes commitment from everyone in the conference. Are all teams in the Summit going to make basketball their number one focus? i can name 4 that won't. (Denver University, Omaha University, GFU and FU)
-
Why does any conference have to stay a one bid league? Kind of a dumb comment. Right now they are what they are.
-
I have trashed the Summit in the past. I won't do it when UND is in it but will also have enough common sense and knowledge of the other conferences to know that it is still a one bid league. I won't be putting the Summit on the same level as 3-4 bid Mid majors.

What's the regional interest in women's hockey? A NCAA tournament birth in men's basketball would be the largest ROI for any sport in terms of exposure. I would argue the playoff loss to Richmond in men's football still gave more media exposure to UND than any run the women's hockey program could have done. Even more coverage than having olympians could be argued. FCS football isn't the top level of NCAA competition but in terms of fan interest it kicks the shit out of women's hockey.
-
Wasn't there a need for a 10th team in the Summit? Your AD and knee pad wearing Messi's mouthpiece sure thought so. UND was the logical fit so perhaps this has been a mutual discussion for a while but UND negotiated the MVFC part as the Big Sky likely had no interest in affiliate membership. I'd say the crawling part could have been mutual as there seems to be a win win for all party's.
-
Wasn't women's hockey started after local youth girls hockey club raised a stink about opportunity? The school formed a committee (go figure) to look at the costs and knew at that time (late 90s?) it would be a challenge. I don't recall Ralph being a part of that.

I've heard mouth piece #1 admit they did offer and the relationship he had with UND coaches was pretty tight. That fan base is so obnoxious today.
-
!@#$ that. Tough to compare basketball teams from one bid conferences unless they play head to head. Usually one or two teams rule the conference and it's hard to say how those teams would match up.
-
Head to head results are pretty telling for me this year. I could care less about what happened when UND was in the Great West.
-
But don't save a lot of money by being cut.
-
It's pretty hard to argue with the facts. Where the university would get in trouble is if/when the waffle again and try to give a sport life again. Make a decision, cut it and be done. Lay the costs out at the start.

This ^^^ I believe there will be initial "backlash" from any sport cut. Than people go about their business and realize it doesn't change their weekends because they weren't attending games anyways.
