Travel budgets and coaches salaries for some of these sports could cover a number of $1500 - $2000 stipends.
I'm not specifying what sports. I would leave that to the administration.
Appreciate the Q&A post. Answered a few questions. You should probably send that to your AD. I'm don't think he fully understands how this works.
I still have the opinion that when you are giving money for things above and beyond tuition, it's not going to be as easy to say we are doing it for football and nothing else.
That's my point, the programs doing it get better by getting a few players who are now going the junior route. The schools that don't, can't compete. It will apply to every sport, widening the gap between the top and the middle.
My opinion- This thing doesn't stand a chance when it's taken to court. Not a chance schools are going to be allowed to pick and choose which sports these are offered in. This will be the death of non revenue sports at schools, including hockey at a lot of colleges.
Hopefully very few play. I don't think the recipe to playoffs is playing a bunch of true freshmen. The guys that played last year need to continue to improve and a JUCO or two need to be ready.
I'll never fault a kid for wanting to give it a shot at the next level. You also cant fault him if he has a full ride to Wyoming vs a half at UND. Best of luck to him.
Another good recruiting weekend. I've liked Smith since I first saw his film. Liked him even more when Oregon offered the PWO. Really like that there are about 3 positions he could play at. Kid is a great athlete.
The option of staying in GF for the summer needs to go away. Muss didn't force commitment from his players to the year round training to develop to full potential.
University of Iowa OLB recently left the team. Wonder if we have any relationships with their coaching staff.

Get them on campus and I like our chances. Never know what kids want to major in, etc. hoping for a good weekend and look forward to hearing some news on Sunday.
The state passed a law that did not allow them to move on. Those same state leaders who put that law in place went and sat face to face with the NCAA and the message when they left was, the name needs to be changed. Kelly has probably heard that same message but knew he could not attempt to change the nickname until two weeks ago. Now as he begins to change it, new state leaders want to handcuff the process again.
I agree, they don't. I will argue however that it is a quick way to easily identify a school. Its an easy way to build tradition.
Listening to the band drown out any chants done at games now is getting rather old.
You mean this meeting?

Read the quotes from our state leaders in this story, right after they met with the NCAA. Why aren't the Gov. and Al Carlson talking to these new state leaders and telling them how this meeting went?
