Glad to hear about McDermott. Our offense has really lacked a consistent outside threat.
-
Perhaps their coach could look at that as a moral victory. They still gave up six points.
-
This crossed my mind multiple times yesterday.

Stony Brook's leading rusher will sit out this game but they still have two very good one's that will get some reps. Really sounds like their offense is seeing the same struggles as ours has been with keeping drives going (or getting them started). http://www.newsday.com/sports/college/stony-brook/sbu-offensive-linemen-cody-precht-mike-lisi-have-key-roles-against-north-dakota-1.9349379

It will be interesting to see Norberg get some reps at rb. I didn't get to watch the game but seeing his highlights, he could be the type of back we need right now with an OL struggling to make running lanes.
-
I'll go with UND 22- Stony Brook 14.
-
Winning also tends to keep players happier away from home.

UND will return back to Grand Forks Saturday for a game vs. the Stony Brook Seawolves (1-2). Stony Brook is currently 1-2 on the season and is coming off a 20-3 win over American International. In that game, Stony Brook had two 100 yard rushers and held American to 2 yards per carry. http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-footbl/recaps/091314aaa.html This will be the last of four non conference game for both teams.

Player development really lacked under Muss and his staff. Another area he really struggled.

Article has ties to UND on multiple levels. Most importantly, Missouri St. will wear a new black jersey on Saturday evening for the new stadium opener. Second, they just signed a apparel deal with Adidas. As part of the deal they got alternate home and away uniforms to go along with their standard colors. Could this mean we see an alternate black and grey next season if the rumored deal with Adidas goes through? http://www.news-leader.com/story/sports/college/msu/2014/09/11/back-black-bears-don-new-uniforms/15484917/

Not sure if our offense has the horsepower yet. I think our defense continues to improve and forces a few more turnovers. Game is close, offense turns it over a couple times and they get some short fields. MSU- 24 UND- 16

Anyone purchasing the plan through MSU to watch the game? I figure $10 isn't too bad.
-
I could see that if they look at the seniors we lost. I think we'll be a better team at seasons end next year than we were this past year.
-
I think we will see better player development under the Schweigert staff. Staying in Grand Forks over the summer will now be highly recommended/required. The strength staff continues to make improvements where they can until Phase II of the indoor facility is complete. Having an indoor, 100 yd. facility during the winter will be big for off season conditioning. And finally, in my opinion the effort level on the field seems to have improved which hopefully is happening in practice as well. So not all depth needs to be recruited. Hopefully getting guys in the correct positions for this coaching staff and developing them will help.

Than they lack technique. Either way, putting them in motion will help. Some pass plays we are short a route cause a guy cant get off the line
-
If he has the tools this isn't that outrageous. Do some things with him motioning across the formation, sweeps, etc. Use his speed there instead and try and make the defense honor something different other than playing straight up. Maybe the hands are the issue. Kids quick, just can't seem to break that first tackle. I also think we need to put our freshmen WR in motion a little more. The one glaring area where they struggle is getting off the line. Strength is not there yet and it really disrupts timing. If we could try and free them up a little it may help. I really think the contact was one issue in one of the drops by Walker on Saturday is his timing was completely off just trying to get off the jam at the line. In the end, I have confidence that Rudolph has control of this offense and feels everyone is in position give it the best chance to succeed. These are just a couple observations based on watching a game online and in person.

Does Shaugs get the start? Hoping he does.
-
Who is celebrating the 3 point win? I am unable to find an overwhelming amount of posts of people satisfied with the performance on Saturday, that includes players and coaches.

Watching the first couple games, this team is playing with more energy and effort than any point in the last couple years. That is very easy to see from the stands. Now its the little things to keep getting better, not getting reached or hooked up front and making the proper reads. Our rush defense doesn't get pushed around, it has just been a step slow and guys are just not getting into position. That stuff is hopefully corrected as guys get experience. This will be a game that will be a big test and I'm looking forward to it. Also, #94 is fun to watch. Him and #20 definately lead by example and play with a ton of energy that rubs off on these young guys. We have been missing that for a while. I'm glad they are both in green.

UND will have to play a solid game to win. Need to find a way to get ourselves into 3 and 2 or 3 on offense. Not a lot of teams win consistently when they are in 3 and longs every possession. Can't drop passes, can't continually hurt ourselves with penalties. Force some turnovers on defense and get off the field on 3rd down. That was very frustrating on Saturday watching how many 3rd downs they converted. I am hoping Reyes is back.

This will be a really good measuring stick to see where we are. This will be a good, physical football team.
-
UND's next opponent is one that is familiar to the UND coaching staff. UND will travel to Springfield, MO to take on the Missouri St. Bears of the MVFC at 6:00. The Bears are currently 1-1, losing last week to the Oklahoma St. Cowboys 40-23. http://www.missouristatebears.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/090614aaa.html Hopefully we are healthy for this one. Missouri St. is a middle of the pack MVFC team but always plays the top of the league very tough, especially when they are at home. They are a pretty balanced team, averaging about 200 yards a game passing and rushing the ball. They have a pretty good, dual threat QB that could give us fits.
-
OL needs to improve. If we can't run the ball, it doesn't matter who the qb is. They didn't respect the run. That being said, out wrs need to get off the line and Molberg needs to make some throws he missed yesterday. He's doing a better job pre snap this year (so far) but has to start showing some touch. Shags averaged 19 per carry yesterday. He should have got a couple more reps.

Did they change the menu?

Got to love FU fans going to other teams boards making comments like this. Most boards are the same as ours. No one really cares. FU has a great streak going and deserves the visit. Nice work, move along.
