I used to think UND may have to try and avoid this but after thinking about it, how does the NCAA come back and say the feathers for a bird mascot look too much like feathers from a bird? Would they have traction with that?
-
Not sure where we are ranked with the RPI but according to this poll there is a group that thinks we are the #45th ranked team in the country. http://www.sportswriters.net/ncbwa/news/2016/poll160222.html That will change but still a great honor for the guys after a fantastic week of baseball.

School ends in May. While it would work for attendance, tough to have a sport playing its full season when school is not in session.

Outlook: 2 weeks remaining in regular season

UND FIGHTING HAWKS vs. UMD Bulldogs - SATURDAY Gameday
homer replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Is the game not on Midco tonight? Trying to watch on my Midco anywhere and am getting a countdown of 18 hours on my screen. -
Nice work fellas. Take game two.
-
all I think about when I watch this game is Trojan condoms. I'm sure it happens all the time with USC.
-
Hawks up 5-3 after 5
-
Wasn't a good foul. Hobaugh got caught a little out of position.
-
That wasn't on purpose and was actually a pretty poor call by the official. The UNC player hooked Hobaugh trying to get the corner on the way to the rim.
-
Wonder how long until the IPF hosts the pro day for the state of ND
-
He will likely put up the biggest lifting numbers and run as fast if a forty as the skill position guys at the FU pro day. Not sure which skill guys will be there. I imagine we will have a couple olinemen there as well

UND FIGHTING HAWKS vs. UMD Bulldogs - FRIDAY Gameday
homer replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I thought it was a great gesture. -
Try and get one more and sneak a series win. Tall task but fun to think about.
-
Nice work gentlemen.
-
They still have games against EWU, Weber and ISU. While all at home, all are very tough games. A lot of the top 6 have games remaining vs. one another. UND's remaining schedule is actually very favorable if we can get back on track.
-
I think I showed up for class the day they talked about how one bad apple can ruin an entire barrel.
-
I will ad that marketing needs to get creative going forward but I do not fault lack of marketing for poor attendance in the past. The product on the field was poorly prepared and played with little effort. Not very fun to watch.
-
Not a bad idea. You won't want to continue that marketing if people start getting e coli and walking out halfway through their meals. Word of mouth spreads pretty quickly when people aren't satisfied with your service. If you hit that point you can spend all the money you want and those customers aren't coming back overnight.
-
Its easier to spread the message when you have a successful team that people enjoy watching. I don't think you could have payed people to show up a few years ago. They could have put billboards on every parking ramp and corner in Grand Forks and had a commercial every TV break and it wouldn't have mattered.
-
And the regional competitors you are comparing them too were equally as bad. Do I think they could improve, yes. But you also cannot ignore the fact that the product they have had to market has not been good. You can't market a broken product to people and expect them to spend money on it. People who came to games the 3-4 years ago watched a team that didn't play hard and lost....alot. It wasn't a good product to watch. You don't turn that around overnight regardless how easy you think that is.
-
Yet you keep coming back here.
-
We'll agree to disagree. Kids want to play where they win. I live in Fargo hear the same arguments as above. I don't buy into any of them.
-
Your example is great for a family in Wisconsin. Use those same examples for a family in Dickinson, Bismarck or Minot. Location is a tough argument. In my view facilities, winning and relationships are more important for recruiting. Also need to factor the location of alumni after they leave GF.
