For the first part- if they can give solid reasons why women's hockey should stay, it can't be argued. Present facts, not feelings. Hard to argue with facts that specific program if it stays should stay funded to the level it currently is. Second paragraph- why can't they have both? In order to have both, each needs to be properly funded. One has been the last few seasons and the other hasn't. Having 21 sports to fund hasn't allowed for that. Next would be the argument of which program, if equally successful brings the most potential for national r cognition to the university if they truly are a "front porch to the entire campus".

Someone really needs to explain why. Based on numbers and support it can't be justified when stacked against other women's sports. Title IX excuse isn't the reason.

The hockey town doesn't support women's hockey. There may be an outcry but not many weekend afternoons would be ruined because of it. If done properly, laying out facts, it would be tough to argue the decision.

Let's see if the committee has the balls to bring up women's hockey. The president likely has sports in mind. Hopefully that is one of them.

The email sent out stated one idea being looked at is switching conferences. We also need to trim some sports.

Delusional is the bison fans posting on there that UND is a season away from dropping football. Again, more insecurity out of Fargo. We will see where UND ends up. The expectations are playoffs. For some reason that is ok for fans to have that everywhere but GF.
-
Thanks for the feedback. Our secondary is the biggest question mark of our defense so that should make for an interesting matchup. I was impressed with SB defense the last time we saw them. They will likely be one of the best defenses we see all season and will be a challenge for our inexperienced O-line.

Or find the style they want to play and recruit to it. Seems like The last few years Jones has got the athletes and adjusted his offense instead of finding the athletes to fit an offense. There are some pretty good players in this area that can compete in the Big Sky.

A little defensive.

Don't forget the recent dust up in Fargo. The Herald reporters may be setting the tone that they aren't willing to wear the knee pads handed out in Fargo.

He's the president of the university. Kelly took a long enough honeymoon for both of them.

Actually don't mind Millers article. He's been investing way more time each year in covering UND sports and this is a huge story. President better figure out quick people here pay attention to this stuff.

$1.4 million is not terrible when you fund as many sports as UND does. Yes, college athletics should be self sustaining but some of the exposure is better than what marketing can buy.

I second the two options above. This is the SBoHE way of pinning the blame on someone else to make the job more attractive to the replacement applicants or make it easier to face the fire when they extend a public official who lied to the public and has now had two weeks to get his story straight.

Agree. It was his first NFL game. He played kind of as one should have expected.
-
But it makes more sense......

We take great joy in beating an in state rival and fans enjoy the game. Most schools play their onstage rivals. Call it a college tradition
-
Two months earlier and those names could have wrote themselves. Starting with "Bob Johnson"
-
Took a little longer than expected but in a letter to the Forum, this "witch hunt" is UND's fault. http://www.inforum.com/opinion/letters/4091597-letter-forum-conducts-witch-hunt-against-ndsu-president

Or it was an attempt to "control the spin".
-
Right, wrong or in different, their decision will set the bar for all university presidents in the NDUS and what rules they expect everyone to play by.
-
Just because others may be doing it doesn't make it right. And back to your earlier comment about past UND leadership, not many on here liked or trusted the guy your questioning so not many will go to bat for him. Funny thing is though Port has it out for UND as well. You letting the anger of Brescanni getting caught in his lie shape your narrative that Port is some anti-FU guy.
-
He got caught not being honest. Whatever the medias reason for looking, they found exactly what everyone knew was going to be there. No one else's fault but NDSUs leadership.
