So results don't matter? We just pay because "that's what the market says we should pay". I'd make the same argument for men's basketball and am glad Faison didn't extend his contract "because the market says we should".

Agreed. My opinion is this game will fall on the oline. I am thinking a low scoring 17-10 type game either way. The homer in me will pick UND.
-
Hoping the hoggies are ready to strap it on this week. Their play is the key to the game.
-
And if they are 7-4 with two DII wins they shouldn't be on the bubble.
-
I think they lose to FSU and Coastal Carolina. I was wrong that they have a conference game in between so thy will likely be 2-3 with one DII win. If that is where they are they need to run the table because if they don't they are 7-4 with two DII wins. If that gets a team in the playoffs that is pretty weak. But i never thought a 6-5 team would get in either so what do I know. I just think CSU is very one dimensional on offense with an average (at best) QB. Even when he had time and open WRs last night, he sucked. We will see how it plays out.
-
That is why I said they have to run the table the rest of the way. Actually if that is the case they have to run the table because they have two DII schools on their schedule. That would put them at 8-3 with two DII wins.

The throws that qb missed yeaterday had nothing to do with NDSU. Throwing the ball isn't his strength. NDSUs front seven are very good. Not arguing that.

You believe that?

What exactly was he implying by "women's hockey holding football back"? Certainly not by taking players, facilities or fans. He could have only been implying $$$.

Cause their quarterback wasn't very good. Teams will stack the box and cover #84 Their offense doesn't look anywhere else Their secondary was average. Apparently they lack depth

We will see as the season plays along. It's not taking anything away from NDSU as they will be there at the end but CSU is very one dimensional. Indeed them losing to Florida St and Coastal Carolina in the coming weeks. They'll have to run the rest of the conference schedule to sneak in. 7-4 with a DII win should not get anyone in the playoffs.

After four weeks they will likely be 1-3 with their win over a DII school. Not much room for error in the rest of the conference season.

We know he reads the board. I haven't read anyone say that all the resources from women's hockey should get dumped into football. It was a good article, glad he wrote it. The message of that the AD and president should be able to make these decisions without input from the med and aerospace colleges is the main point and one everyone.

If NDSU's defense is at all vulnerable this year it is through the air.

Good game. One dimensional teams don't fair well in Fargo. CSU won't be a playoff team this year. FU vs EWU should be pretty good in a couple weeks. Glad the season is here.
-
I have a feeling it will be like the game tonight. First game rust with the defenses from both teams making plays. Hoping our young oline gels quick or Keaton is going to have to win us a game.
-
Can't wait until Thursday night.

Tickets are free And there is 10000+ empty seats. I don't expect them to draw 11000 but if interest is there for the sport I expect more.

I understand the effort they put in. I also see that the athletic dept is losing money, state funding is going backwards and free tickets aren't bringing fans to women's hockey games. I'll give you something to think about for a second, even having two local Olympic athletes on the team couldn't drive interest in the sport.

Football is also the sport most schools invest the most heavily in due to interest in the sport and exposure for the university. Everyone knows why UNO dropped it after moving D1. It's about 50 miles southwest of Omaha.

They could get those same experiences as a club sport or another university. It's getting to the point where math and logic has to also be applied to varsity sport sponsorship.

I'm not telling those girls anything, the 10,000 empty seats when tickets are free speak loud enough. Not only are "males" on this message board talking but the public is as well. No one had a hard time showing up for the "girls" volleyball game last night.

I'll look at potential return on investment and I'll start with coaching salaries. The discrepancy should be reversed in this case. Your reasons above are the reasons women's hockey should be cut.
