  1. The women take on Ohio State today at 2:07 in their last home series.
  2. When is the last time you've seen a wraparound goal? I feel like they have disappeared
  3. I know they just did an online fundraiser for new uniforms
  4. Does cheerleading and the dance team count as sports?
  5. Not sure where to put this, so let's go with here. Lamoureux twins rolling out a new clothing line to fundraise for family expenses to the Olympics... http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/4222329-lamoureux-sisters-roll-out-apparel-logo-bennett-brien
  6. I don't see any reason for football to go FBS.
  7. Let's just cut all sports that don't have spectators in attendance. So we're left with men's hockey, men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, and football. Done.
  8. Just because you don't like the coach doesn't mean you don't like the team...
  9. I have a question for those of you that have looked at the budget numbers. Why is women's hockey so expensive? Is it coach's salary? Travel? Equipment?
  10. Women win today 3-2 over Ohio State
  11. You just don't like the Olé song
  12. Funny, I would pick two from the left and five from the right...
  13. I think that destination games are also excellent for alumni. I live in Colorado and went to the NYC game and it was great! I haven't been to NYC in 17 years and it was great to see again. Plus all the Christmas decorations were cool.
  14. As mentioned in Brad's blog, UND likes to do destination games. The plan for the future is to do them every other year or so. What are some destinations that you think should be considered? Keep in mind there actually needs to be an ice rink so some places are out. Brad mentions: Target Field, LA, Nashville, Florida (Tampa), and DC. I would throw out there Seattle. I can't say for certain their is a rink big enough there, but I would imagine there is. Anyone else have a destination suggestion?
  15. Softball can't even play home games half the season...
  16. How can Michigan be losing to both Michigan State and Ohio State??? Lol
  17. Or football. Or swimming and diving. Or baseball/softball. Take your pick. Sports are expensive. Here I thought this thread was about academic budget cuts at UMD, my bad. I didn't know some of you were such d-bags.
  18. Completely different budgets and a cheap shot at women's hockey.
  19. Not trying to pile on you in particular. Many UND fans are very gung-ho about cutting this program while few have ever actually attended a game. After spending the entire football season listening to the fans bitch about attendance I just thought someone should stick up for women's hockey. These women work hard and deserve some positive attention
  20. Maybe you should attend a game. Take some friends who haven't been. Try and start a turn around
  21. How long do I have to wait for you of you to post the video???
  22. As I understand it (which really isn't well), it sounds as though you want to fund men's hockey, basketball, and football to championship level... As they have the highest return on investment. That is what, 150ish student athletes? Where does that leave you with women's sports being funded to the same level? Volleyball and basketball or 40ish athletes? This is where I feel the Title XI stuff comes in. You've got 150 male athletes using the best facilities around, including a $100 million ice rink. You have no equivalent for the female athletes.
  23. I personally enjoy women's hockey and attend the games while I am in town. I think with hockey being so popular in the area a lot of little girls grow up learning to skate and potentially playing hockey. If we cut the women's team, fewer girls will have the dream of playing hockey. I also enjoy the international flair on the team and having numerous women's players in international tournaments including the Olympics. That being said, I live in Colorado and only make it to about a game a year. While attendance is higher now than when I was I college, it still seems small for the large building. I would think k for women's hockey, cutting the team will save you coaches salaries (although would there be a severance package?), travel, and equipment. You aren't saving money on facilities because the Ralph is still there. I see both sides of the argument. I understand that women's hockey doesn't generate revenue. But a majority of the sports do not. I would look at lowering expenses for women's hockey and hope to keep it.
  24. Soccer plays on a front lawn.... At halftime they huddle under a tree. Are there actually any seats for spectators or do you have to bring your own chair?
