I will be honest when I was a freshman at UND in 2004 I went to women's hockey games because they played the Pixar shorts during intermission. The team was TERRIBLE although I did really like the Wooster sisters (was that their name?). I was sad when they left. Over the next four years I continued attending games because my buddy was a big fan as a new hockey fan. The game grew on me. I enjoy the games as have gone back as an alumni when I am in town to watch. I support these ladies in the fullest.

I disagree. While the new students may never have attended the university as a Fighting Sioux how many are local kids raised wearing the old logo? Getting Sioux gear for birthdays and Christmas for years I know it is not quite the same but I was raised in Madison. In elementary school we sang UW's school song weekly in choir. I never attended UW but many would consider me raised a Badger.

We live in a difficult time. People are so easily offended and society as a whole seems to think nobody should be offended. Either way, you have to be careful what you are saying and doing. Why fan the flames for no reason? Joke or not, people will always take it out of context, especially when it makes it on to the Internet.

Not really sure what to say about this, or if the thread will be allowed to stay open. But I stumbled across what I thought was a bizarre message on Facebook from the University President. Reading through the comments I learned and saw what was the original "incident" (picture). Perhaps someone with a better knowledge of computers can post the letter from the President. The question becomes: how do schools and the public in general, respond to issues such as these? I know I am not phrasing this very well, but I don't know how to do it any better. There is no place in society behavior such as this. The University campus is a place where everyone should feel welcome.
