  1. While I don't disagree that negative message boards don't help efforts to land potential recruits. However, are you saying that getting our butts kicked this often and there being a question about the current coaching staff being in place next year doesn't have a bearing on a talented kid who may consider making a commitment in the near future? It don't foresee any recruit (unless no one else is talking to them) verballing to UND until they know the coaching situation for next season. Therefore, I don't see any commitments prior to the end of the season. Not a good situation!!!!
  2. I posted this over on the BB recruiting thread as well, a lousy FB season doesn't help our recruiting efforts.... Interesting comment from SU's Phillips: For the time being, Phillips is just fine impressing future recruits with an NDSU football game. “We get a kid in the Fargodome on a fall Saturday for that intro … it just makes a real strong statement for NDSU,” Phillips said. “Quite frankly, our football success helps our program immensely in recruiting. I am of the belief just because you have a great football program doesn’t mean you can’t have a great basketball program.” Unfortunately, BB recruits visiting UND this fall may have the opposite effect.

  4. It is interesting to note that both UND and SU are looking at Kindred's Eric Bachmeier as a WR. I had heard that he was talented enough to be recruited as a QB. I don't think either team has made an offer.
  5. I agree - it is good to learn that there were several schools after him!

When Lennon moved on, I sent an e-mail to Tibesar encouraging him to apply for the job. He sent back a nice note, indicating that he thought the decision had already been made, etc. He thanked me for my interest in his returning to UND and said something about the great experience he had playing and coaching at UND. He certainly didn't say either way whether he would consider coming back for the right offer. Obviously, that was almost seven years ago - I have no idea how he would look at this today. I think it gets down to what his goals are - a head coaching job in the NFL is one-heck of a carrot but he is smart enough to know there are only 32 of those jobs available. If he would like to be a head coach at his alma mater (and maybe move up the college ranks from there), I agree with 92,96 - I don't think a little smaller paycheck would be a big issue. I would think some enticements like a bonus for attendance, making the playoffs, winning the Big Sky, etc. would make the job more appealing.
  7. Apparently we have another PG offer out to: PG Tyrone Taylor, 6'3”, 165, Grandview (Grandview), MO Has offers from SDSU, Santa Clara, FL Gulf Coast, Long Island, Brookllyn, MO St, UNO, Utah St, Creighton & Wichita St
  8. Agree - hopefully, Shay will assist in acquiring another couple more commitments prior to November 13th. We should be in good shape at the guard position for next year but need to find some 3s and 4s along with another 5.
  9. Sioux_FF, on 13 October 2013 - 12:02 PM, said: Also, I don't see Mussman being let go after this year because of the way UND runs the program. They lost Lennon at least partially over money. He signed at SIU for 200k a year for 5 years in '07. UND extended Mussman for only 114k, years later. ********** So you are saying that Faison should have given Mussman a raise to $150K or more simply because he was underpaid compared to other FCS coaches? Why in the heck would he do that when Muss hadn't produced great results. People aren't hesitant to criticize Faison for a variety of reasons. That would have been a valid reason - giving Mussman a bunch more $ without him earning it. He will open the check book when he has the opportunity to hire someone who deserves a much larger paycheck - someone who can turn our program around!
  10. His team was undefeated until losing in the Class 2 championship game - they finished 30-1. Looking at the video, he runs pretty well, uses his left hand and has a decent touch - granted this was against shorter competition but those are good traits to have against any level of competition. I would have thought he would have averaged more than 11 points/game but with such a good team, they must have had some other horses and didn't need to rely on him. He also had an offer from UMKC.
  11. For some reason, I don't have quite the enthusiasm I had for keeping Wiki up-to-date with recruiting info - probably because I don't expect many (if any) of the good ones to be making commitments to UND any time soon. Nevertheless, Wiki has been updated. Let me know if I am missing anyone.
  12. Arroyo averaged 11 points as a JC freshman, shot 37% from the field (33% on 3s) and 78% from the line.
  13. I am the guy who attempts to keep the recruiting info on Wiki current. While I also feel we could do a much better job of recruiting ND/MN/SD, we certainly may have made more offers than are listed on Wiki. There are many different sites/blogs that provide info about recruits, offers, etc. in all of the more populated areas in the country but there really aren't any great sources for ND & SD prospects.
  14. Has anyone seen the guys practice yet? If so, your thoughts?
  15. I am not sure this isn't more embarrassing than the last couple of weeks!
  16. I don't see that as an issue. The continuance of a losing FB program is what would reflect on Faison much worse than buying out Muss' contract. As many have noted, contracts are bought out all the time. That isn't a big deal any more.
  17. I would sure think there is a buyout clause but who knows how much the buyout would be. If the program continues to embarrass itself, I think Faison would recommend the buyout to Kelley, who I am sure must approve it. Both Faison and Kelley want to "win" so I think it would be approved - although I am sure the department doesn't just have an extra $150-200K (hopefully, it would be less than this) or more just sitting around!
  18. As I say each week, I hope I am wrong: ISU 38 UND 27
  19. GFH - I notice you haven't posted since this one. Why is that???
  20. I remain confused why it took so long for this to be announced! We have petitioned for him to be eligible immediately. I have no idea how likely it is to be approved or how soon the decision is expected to be made. It would sure be nice to have him available this year -- a great shooter from the outside would certainly be welcome. The kid has talent - was the 6th man on the LaSalle team that went to the Sweet Sixteen.
  21. It comes directly from Jones. I am sure he would like as many followers as possible and would add anyone to the list of recipients. Here is his e-mail address: 'Brian Jones' (brian.jones@athletics.und.edu)
