  1. In today's (maybe yesterday's) Herald, they ran an article about our focus on the running game. I was surprised that our overall yardage last year wasn't terrifically different than the previous 2-3 years.
  2. Do we have an annoucement yet? He or she??
  3. It doesn't look like we have too many fans making picks in the Big Sky Challenge. Here is the website: http://www.bigskychallenge.com
  4. I believe that is correct: 2014 Fraase from Shanley 2015 Dooley from Central Cass
  5. Talbert has verballed to Liberty.
  6. That is a true statement in recent years but we have a lot of very talented ND players in the past. Unfortunately, they have been scarse lately and the really good ones have gone out of state.
  7. USA had been debating whether to add FB for many years. The big money people in Mobile agreed to help fund the program - provided the team moved to FBS as soon as possible. Mobile and the surrounding area produce a ton of DI FB players every year. I would guess that USA will be respectable rather soon. They won't get many SEC-calibre players but there is plenty of talent for them to get their share.
  8. I agree with each of the above posts - I was simply pointing out that, for the first time, UND doesn't have a player who played his HS ball in ND.
  9. In the 100+ years of UND men's basketball, I am quite sure this will be the first year that there will not be one North Dakotan on the roster. Sad but understandable! I realize that Brekke (EGF) is right across the river but ...... not from ND.
  10. Not surprising but still disappointing! I just hope Palendech stays - he is apparently quite talented but with Mollberg and Bartels only one year ahead of him, he may want to find a school where he is more likely to see the field sooner.
  11. Excerpts from an interview with offeree Matt Juneau (great speed for a guy his size): Gopher Hole: You have an offer from North Dakota. Do you have any other offers right now? Matthew Juneau: No. Not right now. Gopher Hole: What are you hearing from the Gophers? Matthew Juneau: Not a lot. I got invited out to practice though, so it is a start, but I am hoping that it will pick up a little bit more now that their season is going. Gopher Hole: Besides the North Dakota offer, who else are you hearing from? Matthew Juneau: North Dakota State, the U of M, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Northern Illinois and Drake. Gopher Hole: What do you feel that you need to show Division I schools that you can play at that level? Matthew Juneau: I feel like I can show them my quickness (he runs a 4.9 40-yard dash), because I am a big guy, but I feel to play Division I, you have to be quick and you have to be fast. I am hoping to show that this fall. Gopher Hole: Are most schools looking at you strictly as a tight end or would they look at you at a different position? Matthew Juneau: Most of them are looking at tight end. A few are looking at tackle. Gopher Hole: You ran a 4.9 40-yard dash. That is pretty good speed for a player your size, right? Matthew Juneau: I have been lucky so far. Gopher Hole: Do you think that because of your size, that based on maturing and eating and getting stronger that you would probably project to being more of an offensive lineman than a tight end down the road? Matthew Juneau: I could definitely see it the way that I have been growing lately, but ideally, I would play tight end in college and not tackle. Gopher Hole: What did you weight last season? Matthew Juneau: I was about 255. Gopher Hole: So you put on about 24 pounds, right? Matthew Juneau: Yes, a lot of lifting. Gopher Hole: What would it mean to play for the home state school Matthew Juneau: It would just about be my dream because my dad (Tim) played there back when he was in college. To play at the same school as he did and hopefully the same position, would be a dream come true. Gopher Hole: Are you planning on sending out some tape or highlight reels to some schools after your first couple games? Matthew Juneau: Yes. Gopher Hole: Have you thought about trying to visit some schools before the start of the season? Matthew Juneau: I have. I am thinking about North Dakota and maybe Northern Iowa or Northern Illinois and any other schools that ask me to come out besides the U of M, because I can go there without taking an official visit.
  12. Edwards has supposedly narrowed his choices down to Abilene Christian, Santa Clara, UNC & UND
  13. I have seen Bailey Strand listed as 5'7", 5'8" and 5'10" - anyone know her correct height? I see UND freshman, Erin O'Toole, has a sister who is a good BB player as well.
  14. Another SF offer: Donte Ingram, 6'5, 190, Danville (Simeon Career Academy), IL Has offers from UMKC, MO St & Hampton
  15. I agree that Hardin is a great player and that we are lucky to have him. However, for him to get serious consideration, he can't drop as many passes as he has the last couple of years. I don't think I am exaggerating in saying he dropped 6-8 passes that weren't tough catches last year. At least a couple of the drops came at crucial times. His stats were great but could have been much better. Not necessarily a negative comment, just an observation as it pertains to his playing at the next level.
  16. The coordinators sound quite pleased with camp thus far....
  17. Offeree PF Daniel Meyers, 6'9”, 220, Billings (Central Catholic), MT verballed to Wright St Also, Montana St. received a verbal today from a 7' center from IN.
  18. This offer may or may not have been posted earlier: DE David Kornack, 6'5", 245, Edgar (Edgar), WI Has offers from IL St & Bowling Green
  19. The 186 and 232 (Garman & Mollberg) were from the the spring roster (different from last fall's). Those weights were used for the roster in the Media Day publication as I sure most, if not all, of it was written prior to the start of fall camp. I am sure everyone was weighed and measured in the last week so we should see updated "2013 fall" weights quite soon.
  20. All the weights listed in the Media Day Booklet were from last spring. For true freshmen, it was likely their listed weight when they were recruited or their HS weight. I would guess there will be an updated roster posted soon with current weights. It will be interesting to see who may have gained (or lost) some pounds over the summer.
  21. The activity in Nebraska continues with another offer: PF Mike Daum, 6'9, Kimball Has offers from USD, WY, Lehigh, UNC, ID St, UNO, SDSU, Air Force & Hartford Kimball is a very small town in the panhandle but it appears this kid has real talent. His mom is a WY grad!
  22. We have interest in another NE player: SG Khyri Thomas, 6'3", 180, Omaha (Benson), NE Has offers from UNO, UMKC & Portland St
  23. I live 1,800+ miles from GF so don't get up there too often. From reading the Herald daily and from other sources, it appears the GF economy is doing well. A couple of questions about Columbia Mall: - Is Scheels still planning to move into the mall or has that already happened? Does anyone know why they waited a year or two before making the move? - How is the mall doing otherwise? With a good economy and a lot of Canadian traffic, you would think it would be doing well. Are there many/any open store fronts?
  24. I agree - there were some implications that the coaching and focus could have been better last year. But the past is the past and, hopefully, we will see a major improvement in the defense this fall.
