Some of those "marginal" players over the years have brought a lot more to this team than the "big elephants" IMHO.
-
Amen, bro, amen.
-
Those are intresting stats, Dagies. Before this team should worry about W's and L's on Fridays and Saturday's and vice versa, I think they should try to put together 3-20 minute periods back-to-back-to-back, for a full 60 minute effort For starters anyway, then the w's and l's will take care of themselves.

Well excuse me, Mr. prostate exam expert You act like you know me or something.
-
Maybe they could get that idiot from blink182 to sit in, it would certainly be better than that stupid reality show he has on MTV.
-
Whatever it is, let's hope he can still play the drums.
-
Bring the physical game, and punish them, and get some traffic in front of their net, and I think we have a good chance.

You're sick Rainman

Hey now, I was just trying to be cordial to the ol' slapster.
-
Another Sioux-goopher weekend, and slappy's back. Hey, how's it going, where you been?
-
The World Juniors are over. TJ is a Fighting Sioux, Toews is a Fighting Sioux. Now lets focus on the task at hand, making a run at the National Title. I'm just glad we have both of these guys back with no major injuries. Now let's go down to the hooch and whip some goopher eh-es-es.
-
Rick, I may be wrong, but I think the "US Star" Sagaard was referring to was phil "the thrill". I do agree with you though that TJ has nothing to feel bad about. As far as the undeachievers are concerened, sooner or later you are exposed for exactly what you are, don't think for a minute that it went unnoticed.
-
I really don't want this to be a statement that comes off as kesel vs. Oshie or vice versa. I believe that phil "the thrill" is not the only player who should be blamed for lack of effort. Not making up excuses for not finishing, but TJ did put forth the effort every shift that much is apparent. I guess I would rather lose with the team playing as hard as they can, and missing some shots, than lose by a complete lack of effort.
-
And, I'm laughing at the fact that you come here and find fault with the people that are finding fault with the goophers, that makes you two times worse.
-
What a pointless thread this is.

Goon, then why are we the only team that seems to have a problem adjusting to the new way this is being called? I'm not saying it's right. It's just like the rule changes for being in the crease, it comes down to the judgement of the official. Which is another can of worms I don't want to open here. If they are going to call tippy tappy crap then it's time to realize it and be aware of it when you are on the ice. Someone needs to make these guys understand that if you hit from behind you might be showering early, plain and simple. It's just an undisciplined penalty to take, especially with the new rule changes, and the way it is being enforced.

TJ has put forth a tremendous effort this year, as well as at the WJC, however, I'm sure he would tell you himself that you win as a team and you lose as a team. Right now I think there are bigger concerns than which players specifically are or are not towing the line . Like, how do we get everyone on the same page to put forth the same effort ? Singling out individual players, be it for good or bad reasons isn't going to help. I've wondered this for a while, is it mental preperations, or physical, or both ? I'm no coach, but I'm just throwing this out there to see what the rest of you guys think.

Last night's loss just doesn't sit well with me, maybe I'm still upset from the WJC's lackluster team USA performance. Just a couple thoughts any way. 1. Last night's loss is simply embarassing and inexcusable. 2. This team should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for leading the league in checking from behind peanlties. 3. The "hot goalie" excuse is now officially retired as far as I'm concerened. The term poor shot selection will take it's place for me, as well as, no goals off of rebounds. How else would you explain outshooting a creampuff team and not beating them ? 4. For the player's that are putting forth an effort every night and every shift, disregard all of these comments, please. 5. Points are as important in Oct. and Nov. as they are in Jan. and Feb. passing off early season losses as no big deal comes back to haunt you. When the season starts you should be prepared for it. 6. Maybe the US women's Olympic team will lets us play them in a no-contact game so we can get some of our dignity back.

I would like to set the record straight on phil. I've at times been very critical of him. I realize he has tremendous talent and potential. Most of what I say is strictly for my own amusement to get under the skin of certain gopher fans, nothing more. I have no hidden agenda to start an I hate phil organization or anything like that. I even said that phil passed up some scoring opportunities in this tourney, and I meant it. Sometimes I just feel, with all that talent , come on phil you could try a little harder. But I don't dislike him as a person. I also enjoy reading what you bring to the board Sagaard. Some others only show up to gloat after sweeps and such, so that is frustrating to me, if you knew me personally you would find that I enjoy irritating people like that. But for the most part I just enjoy watching hockey, and it stung watching our boys get whipped the last week. Oh well, we have the rest of the college season to go so let's get back at it.
-
I alluded to some of these very things last week, as far as playing times and such. The reaction seems to be about 180 degrees off of what it was when I said it.
-
I hope someone has pointed this out to the NC$$, by way of a letter of email, or however. These types of inconsistencies are ridiculous.
-
TJ, clearly the best player for TEAM USA.
-
My sources at the game in Vancouver tell me that TJ will be just fine, and hopes to play this weekend against Alaska. That is very good news. It sounds as if he may have went into the boards somewhat in a head-first fashion, which is always scary. I don't know the complete details of the incident, however. When things like that happen you don't even care about wins, losses, or medals, just like with Bina's injury, or anyone else's for that matter, you just hope they are OK, everything else is secondary. We can all be proud of our players on this team and the hard work they put into this tournament even though they come home without a medal. I congratulate all of them and can't wait to see them back in a Sioux Jersey.
-
I've been wondering this myself. Will the fans in Vancouver still be cheering the Russians when they are skating around with the big piece of hardware later this evening?
-
The thing that I'm wondering about all of this cheering/not cheering one team or another is, who made up the rules about what is and is not acceptable. I mean, why does it matter if Canada's fans cheer for the US and vice versa, the whole thing seems rather silly.
