  1. I can see it now. A poster of Lammy, Blood, MacWilliam and Forbort/Simpson - dark lighting, equipment on, scowls on their faces - "The 4 Norsemen".
  2. Yes, I hear you and understand. I was replying to JodCon's question about logos having to be removed right away.
  3. I believe that was only in the case that UND wanted to host post season (NCAA) games. And that should only affect women's hockey, as tournament games for men's hockey have moved away from college sites and are hosted at independent, regional sites. The first round of the WCHA tournament wouldn't be included in this (UND could still host if they were a 1-5 seed) as this is the WCHA tournament, not the NCAA tournament.
  4. It's this kind of stuff that makes me want to bang my head repeatedly against a brick wall.
  5. I'd like to see the timeline here. For some reason I'm under the impression that the settlement was in place before Charles Murphy was voted in - am I wrong in thinking this? If I'm correct, then the settlement was agreed to when RHHIT was the dictator, therefore we did not have Standing Rock/Charles Murphy to go to bat for us. I apologize if I have the timeline incorrect.
  6. Hopefully. The one wildcard is that dad now is an assistant coach with St. Cloud. As someone said earlier, a lot can happen in 3-4 years. And I'm also not sure if you'd want to play for a team that your dad coached, that might be a delicate situation. But just something to think about.

  10. You mean other than the fact that you're not an NHL GM and you haven't drafted this kid in the NHL draft? Umm...not sure.
  11. Not quite sure where to put this - feel free to move this if appropriate. I just read Ryan S. Clark's "Slightly Chilled" blog and this was very interesting to me. Garrett Haar of the Fargo Force was drafted by the Washington Capitals. He has decommitted from Northeastern since Northeastern's head coach stepped down and took an assistant job with the Maple Leafs. Haar recently went to the Capital's development camp and impressed Washington's GM, George McPhee. McPhee then states that he wants Haar to play college next year and to not return to the USHL. So far, this all makes sense to me. This is very similar to Miller's deal. He commits to UND while Plymouth drafts him. The Rangers brass tells him they would like him to play in the OHL with Plymouth, so he is apparently going there. In this scenario you have Miller committing to UND, Plymouth drafting him knowing he may very well not go there, and the Rangers talking to Miller about going to Plymouth. Miller decides to go to Plymouth. Back to Haar...here's where I'm confused (and it shouldn't surprise me, as the way rules are interpreted and carried out with the NCAA never seem consistent). Haar impresses McPhee and McPhee wants him to play in college this year. I get that. But Haar doesn't have a commitment anywhere right now, so McPhee calls Jerry York (his old college coach at Bowling Green) at BC to try get Haar a full ride for next year. I could see McPhee telling Haar they'd like him to play college next year, and leave it up to Haar to work on getting that done, but you're telling me a GM of an NHL team can call a college coach and try to get one of their draftees a full ride? Does that seem "illegal" (in NCAA terms/rules) to anyone else besides me - or am I going crazy? [url=http://slightlychilled.areavoices.com/?p=740]Fly Like An Eagle
  12. Thoughts and prayers to Bob Stenehjem's family and friends. And not to trivialize this into the nickname issue, but I didn't realize this:
  13. Faison with a nice jab at Gwozdecky! HA.
  14. I'm not sure if who the commissioner of this new conference has been talked about or not, but are we so sure that Gino has been ruled out? It may be that Gino is sought out to be the commissioner, and if that's the case he'll do what's best for the conference, not what's best for St. Cloud. If he's not the new commissioner and if SCSU retains him as an advisor, then I'm sure he'll do what he can to help them with the situation we find ourselves in, but not sure that would mean them getting into this new conference.
  15. Gonna have to disagree with you here. I'm no Heatley fan and sure no Wisconsin fan, but I'd much rather have him than Havlat. I think that was a great move by Fletcher. Along with the Burns trade, Fletcher's making improvements. I agree with someone earlier who said it'll be easier/better to root for the Jets than the Wild, though! Can't wait for the Jets to join the league next year - although these 2 teams are still a far 2nd and 3rd from the Bruins!!!!
  16. The Wild rid themsleves of Martin Havlat and traded for Dany Heatley. Fletcher making some good moves. Sharks trade Dany Heatley to Wild

Good to see that now on the wall down by the locker rooms they're going to have to add a "Hall of Fame" section!
  19. The Flyers just traded Jeff Carter to Columbus for Jakub Voracek and 2 draft picks. They also traded Mike Richards, their captain, to LA for Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn. I know the Flyers organization is...well...not the brightest, but is it April 1st today?
  20. Would be cool to see that happen, but not likely. NHL.com has some mock drafts and a few players I've seen slotted at this pick are: Nathan Beaulieu, D, Saint John (QMJHL) Sven Baertschi, LW, Portland (WHL) Ryan Murphy, D, Kitchener (OHL) One of the mock drafts has Miller going 25th to the Leafs, and another had him going 30th to the Leafs. Other than that, none of the other mock drafts had any of these guys in the 1st round. Take it for what it's worth - a mock drafts by the "experts"!
  21. Just got back to my hotel room. I attended the Bruins/Canucks game 6 at the Garden in person, and it couldn't have went any better! A few things I can still see haven't changed, mainly that DaveK is a dumbF**ck. Did I just read his post correctly when he said that "Thomas is a hothead with anger management issues."? Tim Thomas is probably the most controlled, composed person that I've watched play goalie. I've watched virtually every Bruins game this season courtesy of the NHL Center Ice package and there were times I was screaming at the TV wishing Thomas would go off, but when the camera was on him he was calmly smiling behind his mask. Dave, I'm sorry - but you have no clue. Seriously.
  22. Not to split hairs, but this is from an ESPN article - but I do get your point! Teams winning Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals have gone on to hoist the trophy 77 percent of the time (55 for 71) since the league went to a best-of-seven format in 1939. I thought it was a great game last night with the wrong outcome! B's powerplay looked better, although they didn't score. But they did keep the Canuck PP at bay. I'm pretty sure the Canucks won't go 0-fer on the PP the entire series, so it would have been nice to capitalize on 1 or 2 last night and steal that game. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Alex Burrows after biting Bergeron. I'd say 1 game for sure, if not 2. I think this'll end up being a great series - now we just need a Bruins win on Saturday!
