How is it news? You mean you think the fact that they got enough names on a petition to send this to a vote is not news? Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I mean, we need both tribe's suport, and one has already given us the blessing. Now that we need the other and it's getting down to the finish line and the 2nd tribe finally got a petition to send this to a vote - that's really not news. I'm going to love it when that vote passes and we get support from both tribes. I'll be curious to hear your reaction, seeing that the past couple of months it was a foregone conclusion to you that the name should have been retired by now. Once we get both tribe's nod of approval and retain the name, the time that you have spent on this messageboard and topic will all be wasted!

Not only should Hak be fired because the team lacks passion, grit, hit a lull during the middle of the season and will not make it to the NCAA tournament, etc., but let's also remember that Eidsness sucks and is just a mediocre goalie. He doesn't have what it takes, Dell will probably take over the starting spot from him at some point in mid-season...and the sky is falling!

I'm fine with them getting into whatever conference they want to. Either the Summit can let them in now or wait until the nickname issue is resolved, if they want to. We're almost there. Either way, by the time they'd play in that league the issue will be resolved one way or another and everyone involved knows that.

Made some nice comments about the "cheap shot" (and he really emphasized that) that Knight put on Connolly - then gave the old "surprise, surprise" comment that it came from a ND player. I'd be willing to bet that he hasn't seen any video footage of the hit, either.

I agree completely. Last night's game looked like men against boys. Central looked like they were on a PP almost the whole game. We'll see how South fares against them tonight, but at this point I'd say if Central doesn't win State it'll be amazing. Admittedly I haven't watched hardly any HS hockey this year.

Simply F'ing amazing! I always knew McLeod was a dousche (and that's putting it lightly) but never had any clue it was this bad. On a bit of a tangent...I'd like to see an article like this done about hockey at NDSU. Reading this brings up some eerily similar circumstances...I'm guessing there were some "secret" meetings on squashing hockey there back in the late '80's/early '90's.

I'll say this...I don't know anything about Lucia's health and I'm not saying he's going to be "forced out", but when he does go (whether that's this year or 5 years from now) Blais will be the next Gophers coach. The only way that doesn't happen is if Lucia stays there for many more years and by that time Blais is done coaching altogether. But if Lucia is gone and Blais is still in the coaching gig he'll be coaching the Goofs.

I'd have no problem with just being the "University of North Dakota", but not sure I'd like "The U". Every time I hear someone on an NFL monday night game introduce themselves and what school they went to and they say "The U" it makes my stomach turn. Also, we'd be coming up with that name ourselves and trying to market it. That's like a guy thinking he's cool and giving himself a "cool" nickname and hoping it sticks. University of Miami is "The U"? The Dallas Cowboys are "America's Team"? Detroit is "Hockeytown"? Says who? I don't think so. I think all 3 are LAME.

That's actually a great idea, and with the way corporate sponsorship is taking over everything else, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen in the future...we could be pioneers! I think the ND Dodge Rams would be the best out of what you mentioned...we could then just go by the Rams. The only problem is that Dodge typically uses red vehicles in their commercials...I wonder if they'd object to green, white and black?

I'd agree with this comment. I know people who have ordered NFL, MLB and NHL jerseys from overseas for even less than this and they look really nice. I suppose you're taking a risk by doing that, but everyone I know that have used that particular site (not the site that JFR linked to) has loved their jerseys.
