They now usually dress three goalies for the game.

Those picks look about right to me, which means they are probably wrong.

I thought that the Washington goal was clearly goalie interference. I was very surprised there wasn't any complaining by Boston. And, I thought there was goalie interference on the Panthers' tying goal tonight. The Panthers player in front of Brodeur cross-checks the NJ defenseman, knocking him down, and then flops over backwards into Brodeur as the goal is being scored.

I think you are referring to Hakstol's comment that the coaches liked what Senkbeil did at forward in the role that he had. That isn't exactly saying he will stay at forward though, but that might be where they prefer to keep him. UND seems to have established a role of having at least one defense/forward player on the team and with Senkbeil and Gleason they now have two.

Yes. I thought it was a mugging at first until I saw the replay. The Vancouver player was holding the stick of the King's player and pretty much took himself out of the play.

The only appropriate number seems to be #1!

Assuming the NCAA approved the medical redshirt request, the answer would be yes, but haven't seen anything announced officially.

DaveK - I think that you have to agree the 2011-2012 edition of Matt Cooke is significantly different than the historical Matt Cooke. I believe that you have to give Matt Cooke credit for separating himself from some of his prior actions. Since he has pretty much done it for a whole season, and has really had minimal penalties this season he now deserves some slack from those who do not like cheap shots. But you are correct, that most fans have "insert color here" tinted glasses when it comes to the deeds of their own favorite team.

I am certainly no lawyer, but a settlement that does not include the tribes as signatories should not be very relevant to the tribes. The lawsuit is between the tribes (or tribe, depending on how you view it) and the NCAA, while the settlement is between ND and the NCAA. And that appears to be the central piece of the tribes lawsuit.

What can you say, but "WOW!" That makes the 2011-2012 season even more remarkable.

Whether or not you agree with forming a AAA Midget team, Karl Goehring's response was really well written.

That was a very sad excuse for a hockey game....Not the kind of thing to attract more hockey fans.

Hopefully 53-54, 54-55, and 55-56 were not the years of the best captain!

Hastings has a pretty good resume, with many years as a head coach. Can't argue with their choice.

I do not pass judgement on anyone's character, personal issues, relationships, etc. I occasionally have made comments that someone or the team did or did not have a good game or season, in my opinion, based on what I have observed. Viewing the game is out in the public for people to see. Most of what takes place as a captain is behind closed doors and not in the public purview. We may see the results, but we (or the vast majority of us) do not have direct knowledge of what takes place, or what is said in the locker room. I can only recall once ever having made comment on a prospect's performance, based on a USHL game that I attended. As it turned out, my one game observation turned out to be significantly wrong compared to that player's eventual contribution to the Sioux program.

NCAA does not need to know intentions. They only need to know if a person has ever donated money to the university, is an alumnus, is a university employee, student, season ticket holder, or otherwise has some link to the university. That info they can get from the university. If there is no link at all then it is probably okay. They do not need to know if the person is a fan of another team. It would be extremely naive to test the NCAA intentions in anything.

The only people that can judge a captain are those in the locker room: players and coaches. And even those cannot judge "best captain ever." We live in an age of instant social media. When most stuff happens, word gets spread almost immediately. Teams of the 50's, 60's, and 70's may have dealt with similar or even greater issues that no one ever heard of, because of the lack of social media in those times. Even at that, who is around today that has been in all of those locker rooms. While I may agree that Mario appears to have been a pretty good captain, I certainly cannot judge him adequately and certainly not in the context of best ever. It is a long time until October.

Team speed is a big factor but it is much more than that. BC just plain won the battles with MN all over the ice. Even along the boards in situations where MN had BC out-manned 3-2 or 2-1 on the puck, BC was the one that came away with the puck more often than not. BC seemed to be a level above MN in their hand-eye coordination and stick skills.
-
BC is impressive. MN has some speed, but BC has more. They have a good defense and know how to finish. Unfortunately, it appears the Fighting Sioux factor somehow caused MN to lose their cool and goon it up late in the third period. I doubt the Sioux could have stayed with BC considering their short-handed line-up. At the speed of BC the Sioux would have been tired by the third.

UND has not hired an "outsider" as head Men's Hockey Coach in decades. Gasparini, Blais, and Hakstol all had UND experience as an assistant coach and Hakstol also as a player. Heck, the process even scrubbed the Gopher stain out of Blais.

Oh great. We would have PETA after us as well as some professional math organization (1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2)

Heading to the Frozen Four. Who the heck should I root for

I think it was the gerbil fella. -
So, what are the odds that Dinkytown is checking into beefing up security on April 7, based on past history, just in case the Gophers do pull off the unexpected?

If I understand PWR correctly it would have had minimal impact. Vermont is not a TUC and Northeastern is barely a TUC. A loss to MN might have made them not be a TUC. UM needed to beat somebody that mattered, like Michigan State and Notre Dame.
