Whatever makes you sleep at night. Fact is Faison went into this the same way UND did in jumping to DI in all sports. No actual plan, just the arrogant view that if NDSU can do it we can surely do it. How'd that work out?
Some posters here have said that UND has 60-70 more scholarship athletes and not all sports have the full allotment of scholarships. So how can it still cost roughly the same per year as NDSU? (700,000.00)
If a recruit wants to participate in a DI sport they go to UND. If they want to be a Champion they go to NDSU. Embrace it. The BSC has and it looks like Faison has too.
The biggest thing wrong with Schlossman's article is the lack of rivalry hasn't hurt NDSU at all. No one could have predicted the success of NDSU when moving up. 3 wins against the B12 - 2 against the B10 - 2 MAC wins and 4 NC's. I paid 70.00 per ticket for the Griz game this year (face value) does that make them our rival? Schlossman's logic would say yes.
So what - our 2 & 3's are pretty good as you'll see. Throw in some real good rFr and we'll be alright. I remember you guys predicting our demise in 2013 after most of our offense graduated. What happened? I'd rather have new good players than the same old bad players still starting.
You mean the uni team that didn't make the playoffs - that one? UNI is a scary team as sometimes they play like pro's and the next time they couldn't beat a high school team.
What we're proud of is the overall excellence of all our women's programs. If you're satisfied with a lot of programs which are mediocre at best and not really supported by the athletic dept because they lack funding fine.
