  1. What a rediculous thread.

    Boston

Where is the "who the f#$k cares" option?
  3. I've heard Comcast channel 13, but have not independently verified it.
  4. MORE COLLEGE HOCKEY. That would be good news for all of us, wouldn't it? Even though it's just mankato and scsu, that's still more chances the sioux or bulldogs would be on. Plus, I like watching college hockey in general and get sick of watching just the Gophers all the time. Furthermore, once picked up by the providers, Victory would be a competitive bidder against FSN for the Final 5, which should provide for more coverage (like the Friday afternoon game). But I agree Victory should not be awarded anything until they are able to be seen by the vast majority of cable/dish customers. I also agree that Victory is asking WAY too much...but the providers aren't even willing to counter-offer from the way it sounds.
  5. how about last season's Stanley Cup finals? Yes I know, and in addition to hosting the final 5 every year, I think Minnesota should host a regional every year and the Frozen 4 at least every-other-year.
  6. How could he be serious? If Zach were named MVP, the home-team fans would not have been happy. And after all, isn't that what the Final 5 is all about? In fact, I think the all-tournament team should have consisted of all Gophers.
  7. Chief Illiniwek receives vote of support from the student body. The vote was 9,100 to 4,000. Opponents vow to take their fight to the board of trustees,
  8. Not that it matters, but every non-Sioux fan in the building will be cheering for UAA. Per usual, the UND fans on the jumbotron earned the loudest booes from the Gopher faithful last night...but we're not their biggest rival.
  9. A few thoughts: 1) when will UND finally rid itself of Canisius? Sheesh. 2) I like the Northeastern/BC trip...may have to make travel arrangements 3) No trip to Mariucci - could be the 2 best teams if there's no NHL season 4) Bemidji State? Blah 5) US World Junior team - a great exhibition game IMO 6) A lot more balanced as far as home-away games throughout the season 7) Playing St Cloud on the road in March - St Cloud should be in full swoon mode by then.
  10. I'm sure the league would love to have all 5 games televised, but I suspect that the league accepts the St. Paul group (FSN) bid because it's the only legitimate network bidding on it. The contract probably allows FSN to televise whatever games they feel like. Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm sure Victory Sports would love to have the Final 5 contract (but nobody wants them until they're picked up by the cable/dish providers). Once Victory Sports gets picked up by the cable/dish providers, hopefully bidding will become more competitive and the league will receive comprehensive bids and all 5 games will be televised in the future.
  11. I can live with the Minnesota Rule, but in turn, the league should insist that the tv network that gets the rights to televise the Final 5 must televise the Friday afternoon game. Right now, it's possible that FSN is the only station bidding on the Final 5 so they can pretty much do whatever they want. Hopefully once Victory Sports gets picked up by the cable/dish providers, FSN will have some legitimate competition for television rights to the Final 5 and the league will get a more comprehensive bid.
  12. My source could be wrong. I thought it sounded funny...but he's an avid gambler so I assumed he knew what he was talking about.
  13. My gambling sources tell me the Flamingo doesn't have a sportsbook.
  14. I HAVEN'T SEEN GATOR AROUND HERE LATELY. WHERE HAS HE BEEN? I ALWAYS ENJOY READING HIS POSTS. WHY IS EVERYONE WHISPERING?
  15. Not sure how long the PWR has been around... I would have to guess the last time a team finished tops in the polls and won their league, league playoff, and the NC was possibly BU in 1995 (they achieved the trifecta, but I'm not sure whether they were atop of the polls). If not BU, then for sure Maine in 1993. North Dakota might have done it in 1987 (not sure if they were atop of the polls going into the tournament, but would have to guess that that they were). North Dakota achieved the trifecta in 1997, but Michigan was ranked #1 in the country going into the tournament.
  16. They repealed the CC rule to the extent that each league now gets just 1 auto-bid and each league gets to determine for itself whether it goes to their regular-season champ or playoff champ. I think all the leagues chose playoff champ.

    Grand Cities

Most people I know say "the Forks" when referring to Grand Forks-East Grand Forks.
  18. I agree. I was sitting on that blue line and it was a close call, wasn't blatantly off sides IMO. I admit that I would have been crying foul had it gone against my team...but it was in the air and a close call that could have gone either way
  19. The sackings have begun on dataflix!
  20. GREAT WIN! GREAT EFFORT! Can't wait till I go up Duluth tomorrow!
  21. Good shift by the 4th line...lots of chances
  22. Can't let up guys...1 more and it's over!!! LET'S GO SIOUX!
