  1. Post-season tournament hosts 2000-2006: Minnesota- 2000 Final 5 2000 regional 2001 Final 5 2002 Final 5 2002 Frozen 4 2003 Final 5 2003 regional *unconfirmed 2004 Final 5 2005 Final 5 2005 regional 2006 Final 5 Rest of WCHA combined in same time period: CC - 2004 regional UND - 2006 regional Wisc - 2006 Frozen 4 (in Milwaukee) I realize Minnesota is a great tournament host and makes the WCHA and NCAA $$, but this is a bit rediculous.
  2. The PP story was accurate.
  3. The availability of beer is a non-issue I believe because I think the NCAA prohibits the sale of alcohol at their tournaments.
  4. I was on the Ralph's website and noticed that the home games next year are now scheduled for 7:05 pm rather than the 7:35 starts we are used to. Does anybody know the reason for this? I know it's only a half hour earlier, but it just makes it that much more difficult for those of us who live out-of-town to make it to Friday games.

My understanding regarding Murray is that he is leaving SSM to play in the BCHL this upcoming season and will come to UND in '03-'04. I don't know that for a fact, but it's what I've heard.
  6. I got my Brady Murray info from a friend of Andy Murray. The team in the BCHL he's going to play for next season is the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. The most likely reason is because Andy Murray is part owner of the team. Their website is www.sasilverbacks.com
  7. I've heard Brady Murray is leaving SSM to play next season in the BCHL.
  8. I think Skarperud was snubbed. 4th in league scoring, 10th overall and not even a 3rd team pick? http://www.collegehockeystats.com/confstats/wcham Shouldn't league scoring weigh more than overall scoring for league honors? Compare Skarperud to 3rd team pick Connor James - tied for 6th in league scoring, tied for 12th in overall scoring. I suppose the difference being that Connor James played on the team that won the McNaughton Cup.
  9. Because a player is a goon does not make him classless. Some goons have a lot more class than "finesse" players. I made the comment that Jason Blake was not classy because of his cocky propensity to antaganize other teams with his mouth and with gestures and because I've heard that he wasn't a very good teammate. I think Commodore had a lot of class. Since he left, UND's sorely missed his leadership and rugged style of play. I admit that I sometimes would get upset by some untimely penalties, but he made up for it in other areas (intimidation, keeping opposing players from rushing the goalie, getting the team out of a funk with a timely big hit, etc.). I'm too young to remember Archibold play for the Sioux, but just based on the stories I read in the Fight On Sioux book, he's a legend! It sounds like he didn't give it to anyone who didn't have it coming.
  10. Both teams have had classless players in their programs throughout the years. (I don't think any honest Sioux fan would argue that Jason Blake was a model for class) Hauser's actions alone do not make the Gopher program classless (although they do reflect poorly on him personally). Having said that, however, I think Sioux fans are particularly rubbed the wrong way by the Gopher fans, which leads to a general hatred for the Gopher program. Gopher fans like to think that their gloating after Gopher victories is okay because Sioux fans allegedly gloat when the Sioux are winning. I'm not arguing that Sioux fans do not gloat, but I suggest that Gophers fans are generally much worse. I will write one example in support of my argument. I was at the January game at Mariucci won by the Sioux. I saw many Sioux fans there and all were quite happy after the game. However, I did not see one instance of gloating or disrespect to Gopher fans. I did not even see one Sioux fan say ANYTHING to any Gopher fan in the building. I was also at the Saturday game at Englestad in February. As I'm sure many of the readers on this site are aware, the Gopher fans in attendance were quite vocal after the game. I have vivid memories such as the drunk guy repeatedly shouting at the top of his lungs "We Own This Place!!" and the guys in the Daktronics suite dancing and waving their brooms. Now I'm not saying there is anything inherently wrong with this behavior, but a Gopher fan shouldn't be surpirsed if behavior such as this fuels a growing resentment on the part of Sioux fans. Furthermore, let's not buy into the moral equivalency argument and just assume that Sioux fans do the same thing after Sioux victories at Mariucci. I've been present for both situations, and believe me, there is a difference.
  11. Great game. Great effort by the Sioux tonight. The way the team played tonight takes a lot of the bitterness away from Friday night. I thought everyone stepped it up a notch and put forth a good effort. Any hockey fan had to feel for Andy tonight after the way he played. I can't add much to what's been said already, but off the subject a bit, I will say this. I watched the game tonight at a bar in St. Louis Park (western suburb of Minneapolis) and I swear we were the only table watching the game in the whole bar. When the Gophs scored the overtime goal, there was absolutely no reaction by ANYONE in the bar even though the game was on every TV. The Twin Cities touts themselves as a college hockey town, but I've yet to see it. I've only lived down here for 8 months and I'm just not used to such apathy towards college hockey. I just can't imagine the same thing happening in a bar in Grand Forks. I guess I don't really have a point except it just makes me more proud to be a Sioux fan. I didn't see Hauser's gesture, but if that's true, it surely was classless. After a game like that, you would think anyone with class would have respected the other team. It was a heckuva game. I can't believe the season's over, even though it's been a long year. I wish next season started next week!
  12. Unfortunately I attended the game. Total lack of effort, no heart, no discipline, no composure...especially by certain players. It's games like this where you can really assess which players have character and which ones don't. Bochenski didn't skate hard once in the 2nd or 3rd. He completely lost his composure in the 3rd and basically became the laughing stock of the game. The goofs were antagonizing him quite a bit, but that's no excuse for the lack of effort he put forth. On the bright side, I was very impressed with Rory McMahon and Ryan Hale. Both played extremely hard every shift, even after the game was out of reach. The bottom line is that the Sioux were outmatched tonight, but they at least could have made a game out of it if they had played with any effort or heart. Big disappointment. Hopefully they can put forth a good effort tomorrow night and end the season on a positive note.
  13. A couple friends and I are looking to watch the Saturday game (and Sunday if necessary) at a bar/restaurant in the Minneapolis area among Sioux fans.
