  1. Anyone know whether Senser's (Bloomington or Roseville) will be airing the Friday night game?
  2. The USCHO article on the coaches poll lists the entire poll results: 1. Minnesota-Duluth (7) 79 2. North Dakota (1) 66 3. Wisconsin (1) 64 4. Colorado College (1) 61 5. Minnesota 51 6. Denver 45 7. St. Cloud State 30 8. Minnesota State 27 9. Michigan Tech 17 10. Alaska-Anchorage 10
  3. The annual pre-season GF Herald coaches poll has UMD #1, UND #2, Wisconsin #3, and CC #4. I couldn't find the complete poll on-line so maybe someone else will post it. Bernd Bruckler was named pre-season player of the year and Travis Zajac was named pre-season rookie of the year.

    FSSN, WDAZ?

I've been nervously wondering the same thing. It seems like there are more WDAZ games this year (could be wrong). Are the WDAZ games also on FSSN and satellite or are they only available to Greater Grand Forks residents who get WDAZ?
  6. Here is the link Does anyone know who the author is of this new book?
  7. I really hope they make the WDAZ games available by satellite too. There seems to be a lot of WDAZ games this year and I'd hate to miss all of them.
  8. I think the article said he has connections to most of the schools he's considering, but didn't mention any connections to UND. I'd consider UND to be a long-shot at this point, but you never know after he sees the facilities.
  9. It's official: [url=http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/mhockey/release.asp?RELEASE_ID=3039]UND names Cary Eades assistant men
  10. It is true that the 98-99 Sioux team lost 56.8% of its total offense (based on total points) and came back to win an NC. However, I would guess that cases like that are an exception to the rule. In 00-01 Sioux lost 48.6% of its offense and followed it up with a sub-.500 season. Assuming there are no further early departures, the 03-04 Sioux team will lose 34.3% of its total offensive production. Comparitively speaking, the 02-03 Sioux team lost only 16.9% of its offense. Of course all hope is not lost, but it is a major blow to next season.
  11. How do you know they didn't ask? Just because the job wasn't "formally" opened up nationally doesn't necessarily mean there weren't "informal" conversations with people who might be candidates (even long-shot candidates) to see if they are interested. Just a thought.
  12. I'm being told by someone who heard the interview that Tim said he thought Bo WOULD be back. Why the contradicting versions?
  13. The University of Iowa baseball team cancelled a non-conference baseball game with Bradley University because Bradely's nickname is the "Braves." The UI policy against playing teams with Indian nicknames applies only to non-conference opponents and is not always followed. Bradley is considering changing it's nickname: I love it when elected representatives think they know better than the people they represent. These student senators are training well to become typical ivory-tower elitist liberals. One thing that annoyed me about the story is that the writer constantly confuses "mascot" with "nickname." Bradley dropped its mascot in 1989, but the writer refers to the policy prohibiting non-conference games against school with Indian "mascots."
  14. Woops, thought ZP had 60 last year. Yep. But the fact is, Hrkac came back for his defining season and ZP didn't. It's possible ZP may have scored 90 points next year and won a NC...which would have drastically changed my analysis and put him instantly into top-3 status in my mind. But he's gone, and IMHO is not a top-10 Sioux player of all-time on an overall career level. Close, but not quite.
  15. A little perspective - Hrkac had more points in his sophomore season than Parise had in both his years combined. Yes it was a different era, but telling nontheless. IMO, Parise is behind many players in terms of where he will rank as a COLLEGE player, such as Taylor, Smail, T. Murray, Sykes, Patrick, Hrkac, Joyce, S. Johnson, G. Johnson, Blake, Panzer, Goehring, among others.
  16. Obviously you've never been to poi.

    No Excuses

    I wasn't watching the game. I'm a bit surprised.

    No Excuses

Geez, you guys are far too sensible. I guess I'm the only one who is outraged we couldn't score a goal in the biggest game of the year. Bounces, no-bounces, bad luck, no luck, played hard, whatever. It makes little difference to me. Winning an NC is difficult, but when the Gophers make it look easy and will probably 3-peat, it tends to throw perspective out the window.
  19. Yes UND led in scoring, but they still had a lot of games where they outshot their opponent but didn't win. Of their 11 losses/ties, UND outshot their opponent 8 times.
  20. I just don't buy the "puck luck" thing anymore. This has been a pattern the last couple years and I can't help but think there is a reason for it. I've never seen a team that had so many games where the dominated play, got more shots, got more quality chances, but LOST. Yes, it is part of the game and it happens to every team from time to time. But this team has had way more than their fair share. There HAS to be a reason.

    No Excuses

PCM is right on - the Sioux did not bury their chances. The Sioux were not unlucky, they were just plain awful in shooting. I don't know how many times they missed the net on golden opportunities? They were probably trying too hard and getting frustrated, which are both deadly mistakes. I think it's abundantly clear that UND's biggest weakness over the last couple seasons has been their inability to score goals despite generating chances and dominating play in key games. It's the most frustrating thing to watch as a fan IMO. I'll slightly disagree with PCM in the sense that having an offensive defenseman on the blue-line could have helped the Sioux generate different types of scoring opportunities and maybe sneak one by the goalie. IMO, Kyle Radke can't get here soon enough. This team will go down as chokers. That's all there is to it. When you lose to an inferior team to end your season, you choked. I'd put this season on par with '97-'98 that lost to an inferior Michigan team in Ann Arbor. The '98-'99 team was much better than this team and, therefore, the loss to BC was more painful than the loss last night. What worries me the most is that UND is now 4 years removed from a national championship. Everyone who won a national championship or made it to the frozen 4 is now gone. The continuity of champions is gone. It'll take a real special group (like the 1997 team) to get back. I'm not convinced we'll have that group next year. Yes, UND will be as talented as anyone. But I'm more conviced than ever that talent does not win a national championship.
  22. This thread is not nearly as negative as I would like. Terrible Game. Good season wasted. Extremely talented team who underachieved when it counted most. We're the new chokers my friends.
  23. The CBA situation won't stop anyone from signing. It's just wishful thinking for college hockey fans. My guess is that there will be 3 early departures on this team.
