I also went to Madison this past weekend and here are my thoughts: Hockey: It's all pretty much been said. I'm not in Panicville, but I can see it from here. Atmosphere and Badger fans: In terms of atmosphere and cheering for their team, Wisconsin fans are head and shoulders above everyone else. They have coordinated chants, they dance, they cheer extremely loud, and they're more creative than most fans. But In terms of being good "hockey" fans, Wisconsin fans are horrible. Among other things, they sieve great saves and empty nets and they yell "that's debatable" after Wisconsin becomes full strength. Having said that, I'd gladly trade a few hockey IQ points at the Ralph for the atmosphere at the Kohl. Part of this is not really the fans as much as the facilities. I'm not a Ralph-basher like countless people that post here, but putting the students on the ends so they can stand (and dance), having the band in the lower level, and the absence of piped-in music makes a HUGE difference in terms of atmosphere. Wisconsin fans were a little more confrontational this year than they were when I was there two years ago (winning will do that), but overall they're not any worse than any other venues I've visited. "miscellaneous": Anyone who has made the trip to Madison knows that it's not just about the games. And, again, Madison did not disappoint.

I'm not surprised by it considering how extremely liberal that university and community are. If they want to be accurate though, they should should use "nickname" or "logo" because UND does not have a "mascot." Actually, I was surprised with as liberal as UW is, that they freely allow "Sioux" and "Fighting Sioux" to be used in the program, scoreboard, announcer, etc. (unlike UM and Sccc).

Hey, at least we found a different way to lose a game. 4 game winless streak. It was a better effort tonight, but nobody could score (except McMahon). I'm slowly coming to the realization that this is not a great team. Maybe it can be a good team that peaks at the right time. Oh well.

Everything was working well for me until the end of the 2nd when the picture and sound suddenly stopped. Now all I have is a frozen screen. Did this happen to anyone else? ** edit - re-setting my system did the job and it's up and running. Does this happen to others frequently? It's the first time it has happened to me.

Anyone find the right coordinates for the football game this afternoon?

This was only one game and I don't want to overreact. Great Sioux teams have had horrible and lackluster performances and I'm not going to get too down unless and until awful performances become the norm. They showed in Maine that they can be a team that applies pressure with a jump in their step. For whatever reason, they were simply flat last night. I'll chalk this one up to just a bad game. However, if they don't come out tonight and score more than 2 goals, I'm going to have some serious questions about the offense.

When did Mankato get quicker and flashier players than UND? I must have missed the memo on that one.

A couple chances late in the OT, but not much other than that. BIG reality pill tonight.

I watched the whole game on cable on FSSN. The 1st period was fine, the 2nd period was unwatchable with the problem described by Fedorov, and the 3rd period was a mixed bag. I don't think the problem was with satellite, the problem was with the broadcast.

I hope it was the opposing coaches!
