  1. Is it just coincidence that this never used to happen until the business of selling the broacasts began.
  2. My son used to play against him so I know he is a Winnipeg native and started his junior career with the Selkirk Steelers in the MJHL. He was traded to Quesnel of the BCJHL two years ago. I recall that he had been a draft pick of the major junior team in Swift Current but I guess that route either didn't work out or he wanted to go the college route. Maybe he is insurance in case Kaip can't play because that will likely be his style of game.
  3. I guess the broadcast rights for the games must all be released on the same day because TSN released their schedule today. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature.asp?fid=684 It will be interesting to see what the ongoing CBC strike does to their hockey coverage.
  4. From the tropics is he?
  5. You can add Lowell's Senior Walters to the list. http://www.bostonbruins.com/pressbox/press...ses.asp?ID=1499
  6. I didn't spot this in any other thread but yesterday INCH posted a complimentary review on UND's (next Captain?), Drew Stafford. http://insidecollegehockey.com/7Archives/a...afford_0350.htm
  7. I was trying to avoid inflamming the good Dogz fans on this site. By feisty edge, I was implying that Rosehill can be a dirty SOB at times whereas, although Smaby can dish out the big hits, he usually sticks to the rules and spirit of the game.
  8. I can agree with your second line but I suspect that Stafford will be sporting the C.
  9. INCH is also reporting that Skinner has signed with the Canucks. http://insidecollegehockey.com/INCH.htm
  10. Maybe they caught the end of last year's fight and all they heard was that he got "owned by UND"
  11. Actually, there are now several hotels that are in the same parking area as the arena including a Marriott Residence Inn. If you saw the old Broadmoor World Arena when you were out here for the 2004 Regionals I want a shot of what you were drinking because it was demolished in 1995. I know that for a fact because it also used to house our curling club when I was living there.
  12. I believe that Tony Frasca (1950 CC NCAA Champ Team) started the Panino's chain and I seem to recall hearing that he is Sertich's grandfather. If you are going up to Cripple Creek don't drive the road at night or after a few wobbley-pops. Either use one of the casino buses or make it an overnight activity
  13. Actually, they now do a good job of keeping the train running close to year round on weekends and you can find the schedule here: http://www.cograilway.com/ratestimes.htm#OPERATING%20TIMES
  14. I see the well informed lads at USCHO have Chorney as going to Denver and they seem unaware that Lee was drafted by Ottawa. Great photos though, especially the two of Oshie.
  15. All good advice as there are plenty of hotels and restaurants around the arena. In addition to the La Quinta and higher end Antlers there is also a Marriott Residence Hotel if you like to have your own suite to relax in. Old Chicago's is great if you are a beer drinker as their selection is second to none and their pizza is decent. In addition to the previously mentioned restaurants, I believe there is a Chili's in the same parking lot and a short drive towards the mountains and there is a Benigans and a Macaroni Grill on your left. Colorado College is extremely small, about 1500 students I believe, so if your are looking for more night activities you need to make the one hour drive north to Denver.
  16. Oh well, I only hope Matt gets an honest shot at sticking with the big team vice going to an Oiler affiliate where the NHL team with ownership won't care how much ice time and attention he gets.
  17. Yes they did but it is only an affiliation as Iowa is the farm team for Dallas Stars. Therefore, I would be surprised if they could accomodate more than half a dozen Edmonton players. Therefore, the challenge for Edmonton remains as what to do with all the talent they had on their own AHL team from last season. I am only saying that they still may not have room for Green this season.
  18. All good points and maybe the Oilers won't sign him. They already have most of their proven NHL D-men signed for this season and don't forget that they suspended operations of there AHL farm team for this season. See the story at http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/news_story.asp...Name=nhl-oilers Therefore, unless they are sure they have room for Matt on the big team or can give him that sense he would in fact be loaned out to some other teams farm team instead and at the Oiler's expense. If they leave him at UND, it costs them nothing extra and they know that they would have him in time for the playoffs if injuries should happen to take their toll over the course of the season.
  19. Stafford is a great player and yes he was a first round pick but Toews is an elite player the likes of Heatley and Parise. He will produce right away.
  20. Captain of Canada's National Team tells me enough about the kid that I know he will be a force to be reckoned with and that he will likely give Mr. Media to the south a good run for his money when it comes to picking this seasons top rookie.
  21. CC just lost their Captain as Stuart has signed with the Bruins and apparently they have lost Greco too.
  22. UNH is actually much closer to Boston, less than 2 hours whereas Montreal is at least five hours to the North. If the Sioux ever play at Vermont then Montreal is definitely in the picture.
