  1. Satellite is a huge player in North Dakota, I would say more so than cable. You can't get Midco on satellite, but you can get the OTA channels via all three mediums.
  2. 5 years ago, I think UND was light years ahead of FU in the TV department. Today, not so much sadly. Midco has around 200,000 subscribers. How many of those customers subscribe to Midco Sports Net is anybody's guess. Bison football games on "NBC North Dakota" are available to anybody that has a TV in North Dakota, NW Minnesota, and probably Northern South Dakota. I have a pretty elaborate set-up in my Man Cave that includes 4 TV's, 3 satellite receivers, 2 OTA antennas, and a high-speed broadband internet connection. I'm happy I can watch the games on BigSkyTV, but I'd be happier if I could just flip on the TV and have the game be there. So would my aging folks.
  3. I've been thinking about contributing to the Jersey Wall, but if they started raising funds specifically for video boards, I may be more inclined to give to that.........
  4. Regarding the game, 3 weeks ago I looked at this game on the schedule in the Alerus and felt that with the way the D was killing it, and the offense was VERY slowly getting a LITTLE better each week, I figured this would be the best chance to see the Sioux get a convincing win for the first time since the 2013 opener. What a difference 3 weeks makes. Between the ridiculous amount of injuries and now players quitting the team, it is hard to be real confident about how we will do even against winless Weber. I suspect the Sioux will win. But I'm thinking it will be a nail-biter........
  5. We are currently in year 3 of a five a 5 year agreement. Link. I think it is absolutely fantastic to get all these basketball games on FSNorth. Really need to figure out how to get hockey and the Big Sky football games on too....... I find it interesting that UND is producing the games themselves for FSNorth, rather than just picking up a Midco feed. Just means more games on TV which is great.
  6. Well that is just wonderful news...............
  7. 21 turnovers against Bemidji isn't very impressive. Was hoping they would cut down on that number this year.......
  8. How does one receive this weekly email, or is it just sent to former players?
  9. Agreed. I expect to see the stingy D that we've seen at the Alerus earlier this season. Offense just needs NOT to turn it over against Weber and we will be fine.....
  10. Miller just confirmed via twitter that Shaugaby and Ferguson will be out.
  11. League Clarifies Football Tiebreaker </body>
  12. You can certainly tell by how active the NDSU posters have been on this site this week that they have their big rivalry game with SDSU tomorrow............
  13. He said they are preparing as if Bartels won't be available, but that can change by Saturday. Said Hanson knows the offense and is a good leader. Said Studsrud can make all the throws.
  14. This thread is obviously horribly off topic. I would normally be inclined to close it, but since for the most part it is a decent discussion, we will let it play out a while longer. Keep it clean though, please.
  15. Kramer seems to be doing a nice job with the Bengals. Most UND fans probably don't realize it, but ISU won a national title in the 80's. I would like to see Idaho St. return and maintain some relevance. Having another state-named school be a consistent player in the Big Sky would be good for the conference........
  16. Every time I'm at a game, I spend a good chunk of the time looking around trying to figure out how to improve the Sioux Center. The best I have come up with is to put permanent seating in at the North end, that goes all the way to the top like the seats do on the East and West. I think you could also make 4 luxury suites above each restroom entrance. The portable risers would have to stay on the South end to access the overhead doors. By my math, this would get little over 4,000 seats in there. I really like watching games at the Sioux Center, but I agree that the lack of a video board and the sound system in there are bush league. The fact that these two things haven't been upgraded in 10 years tells me that a new arena or updated Hyslop is at minimum 100 years away. The basketball programs are pretty low on the totem pole for UND athletics and especially REA.........
  17. Just to be clear, it is Keaton Studsrud, not Stensrud......... And my opinion is you keep his shirt on and roll with Bartels and Hanson.
  18. I liked the fake punt call going into the wind at that point. Bolduc really struggled in the wind at Bozeman. If the O-line were capable of creating a hole, we would all be saying what a great call that was.....
  19. That was really disappointing. SUU is not very good. The D was really weak today. Dropped passes killed us.
  20. Sort of a different topic, and kind of sad that it needs to be examined at all, but I often try think of how to make the Alerus look better on TV. It would really be pretty simple. Move the team, the Champions Club members, and all the season ticket holders to the west side of the arena. That would look way better on TV. Of course, hopefully the place will be full in 3 or 4 years so it won't matter. Regarding where the students sit, when we were DII they had to move from directly behind the opposing bench during playoffs to outside the 35 yard lines per NCAA rules. So when we start hosting playoff games in a year or two, they will have to move for the last 3 games each year. Might as well move them now so they are used to it. I remember they used to really whine about it during the DII playoffs.
  21. I think you are hitting the nail on the head here. Molberg was arguably the most hyped recruit to come to UND in probably more than a decade. And he chose North Dakota over NDSU at a time when NDSU was hand picking whatever regional recruits it wanted. Then add the fact that he had interest from a Big 10 team, and the fans of this once proud program figured he was going to be the savior. It just hasn't translated to on the field success to this point. I will clarify that I have been a Bartels guy going back to last season, but honestly there is not a huge degree of separation between the two. If there were, we all wouldn't still be arguing who should be the starter between them for the second consecutive season. In my opinion there is less risk with Bartels. In Molberg's defense as far as not living up to expectations, people have to remember that it has been a long time since a freshman QB led North Dakota's football program. Heck, and correct me if I am wrong, but you have to go back 12 years to find even a sophomore that was starting for this program when Bowenkamp took the reigns only because of injury to Klosterman. Furthermore, despite an excellent receiving corps last season, Molberg (and Bartels) is enduring a second consecutive season with little help from the offensive line and little help from any other offensive skill position players. In the end, I predict that nobody is going to be happy until neither one of the these guys is starting at QB, and that could be a couple years down the road.......
  22. Idowu, Tillman Earn ROOT SPORTS Player of the Week Honors That makes four Player of the Week honors already this season for UND players (Tillman twice). I don't recall any last season, unless maybe Hardin got it once or twice.
  23. Regardless of who the QB is, the most glaring hole on this team is still the offensive line, particularly their run blocking. If they can't start opening some holes consistently to establish a run game, the opposing defense is going to be able to pin their ears back and harrass either QB all game long making whoever it is back there look pretty bad...........
