  1. In "Non-UND FCS News", Big Sky champion Southern Utah is in search of a new head coach. Ed Lamb taking assistant job at BYU.
  2. Nick Hill hired as head coach at Southern Illinois. He was QB coach and offensive coordinator under Lennon the last two seasons. Former player for Jerry Kill.
  3. Nice effort last night. Plenty of talent on this team. Too bad both of our bigs foul out with over 6 minutes to play. Curious about Hooker sitting out last night, but not the previous game against Valley City. He certainly could have used the extra rest to get ready for conference play, he was visibly in a lot of pain against NDSU. I suppose a loss to Kansas St. is far more tolerable than a loss to Valley City.
  4. Perhaps a permanent el Nino could make baseball viable in North Dakota.
  5. Bulletin board material.....................
  6. K-State Begins Homestand Tuesday vs. North Dakota Game is on ESPN3 and on Fox Sports Kansas City which is available on the sports tier for both DirecTV and Dish. Also on Sirius 126 and XM 200. K-State is 8-2 on the year. Their losses are to North Carolina and Texas A&M. They beat USD by 21.
  7. The real question is have FCS football fans wanting to watch on TV ever had to miss half of the opening quarter of a football playoff or title game because of a college lacrosse game? Because this seems to happen every year when I want to watch college hockey on ESPN in April..............
  8. Oh, I'm not so sure. Maybe not on the interwebs, but I live in a pretty divided area when it comes to UND/NDSU loyalties. Most every NDSU fan that I know personally has told me we got shafted as far as the playoff selections went. And I attended the game at the Fargodome this year on the dime of and NDSU season ticketholder. Everyone I came across in the dome and at tailgating were pretty welcoming. What happens in cyberspace doesn't always happen in the real world. Still hoping Jacksonville St wins though!!
  9. Hammer was the radio sideline guy for UND football when Shultz was play-by-play guy. He took over play by play for Schultz when he left.
  10. As far as the title game match up, I think it will be pretty entertaining game. I'm not ready to pick against NDSU, but when the field was announced a month ago, I felt that UNI and Jacksonville State were the two teams that posed the biggest challenge to NDSU. Obviously, they handled UNI fairly easily in the dome. The stands in Frisco will be tilting toward the Bison, but I think the Gamecocks will give them a game. I think it will be the most competitive title game match up they have had so far. Regardless of the outcome of this game I tip my hat to NDSU for what they have accomplished in the last half-decade. As much as I love to hate them, I appreciate good football, and they have provided a lot of it in recent years.
  11. I've ended up with three more tickets available for this game, my kids can't go as planned. SATURDAY January 2nd v. Alabama Huntsville These are located in Section 102, Row F. End that UND shoots at twice. $90 for all three. PM or text 701-797-7021.
  12. It should be, it is a weak league. I feel I've seen enough of UND on the year now to think there is plenty of talent on the roster this season. Just a matter of staying healthy and putting it all together when it counts. I will say this about Coach Jones, when his teams are playing good basketball it is often near the end of the season and that has been the case going back to the Great West and NCC days at times.
  13. As the non-conference portion of the schedule winds down, and about a week until the journey on the "Road to Reno" begins, here's a quick look at how the top half of the league has fared so far. Idaho 5-5 against DI opponents 134 RPI Ranking Notable wins against CSU-Bakersfield and Washington St. Montana St. 4-5 against DI opponents 201 RPI Ranking Notable win against Wyoming Sacramento St. 5-3 against DI opponents 206 RPI Rank Notable wins against Arizona St. and UC Davis Montana 2-5 against DI opponents 210 RPI Ranking Notable win against Boise St. Weber St 3-5 against DI opponents 228 RPI Ranking Notable wins against Murray St. and Drake North Dakota 2-5 against DI opponents 258 RPI Ranking Notable wins against Bowling Green and Bradley And some general tidbits: Big Sky is ranked 30th out of 33 leagues in Conference RPI Big Sky is 0-11 against NDSU, SDSU, USD, and Omaha North Dakota currently 3rd in attendance trailing Weber St and Montana
  14. I'd like to see more 2 for 1's against mid major teams from the MWC, MAC, MVC, even Sun Belt and the like....... We should be able to get someone like Boise St to come here if we went there twice.....
  15. He has been at KNOX for the last couple years. Program director, sports director, and afternoon talk host. He was here for a year, then went to Bismarck and did Bobcat hockey for a season, then came back to GF. KNOX has really been covering area high school sports hard since he came back. He is a very talented radio guy both in the studio and in a play by play booth. I listened to him to for years when he was at KVOC as well. KNOX covered the women's WCHA Tourney at REA last year and he called the games.
  16. Has anybody heard Ryan Cunningham from KNOX radio do high school sports? Whether it is TV or radio, I think it would be great to have him doing UND games in some capacity. Very talented play by play guy. Put Sweeney back on TV and try to get Cunningham to do football on the radio.
  17. Yeah I used the Herald number, that is what I read the day I posted. I see the game write up on the UND site has the 2,953 while the official box score has 2,593. I would tend believe the 2,953 though now. Agree it didn't seem like there were 500 empty seats. Still surprised there were any empty seats for this game though.
  18. I think Jacksonville would give them a game in Frisco. Agree though that the game against Richmond is merely a formality.
