As far as the title game match up, I think it will be pretty entertaining game. I'm not ready to pick against NDSU, but when the field was announced a month ago, I felt that UNI and Jacksonville State were the two teams that posed the biggest challenge to NDSU. Obviously, they handled UNI fairly easily in the dome. The stands in Frisco will be tilting toward the Bison, but I think the Gamecocks will give them a game. I think it will be the most competitive title game match up they have had so far. Regardless of the outcome of this game I tip my hat to NDSU for what they have accomplished in the last half-decade. As much as I love to hate them, I appreciate good football, and they have provided a lot of it in recent years.

I've ended up with three more tickets available for this game, my kids can't go as planned. SATURDAY January 2nd v. Alabama Huntsville These are located in Section 102, Row F. End that UND shoots at twice. $90 for all three. PM or text 701-797-7021. -
It should be, it is a weak league. I feel I've seen enough of UND on the year now to think there is plenty of talent on the roster this season. Just a matter of staying healthy and putting it all together when it counts. I will say this about Coach Jones, when his teams are playing good basketball it is often near the end of the season and that has been the case going back to the Great West and NCC days at times.

Dreaded Valley City State vs Fighting Hawks

I'd like to see more 2 for 1's against mid major teams from the MWC, MAC, MVC, even Sun Belt and the like....... We should be able to get someone like Boise St to come here if we went there twice..... -

He has been at KNOX for the last couple years. Program director, sports director, and afternoon talk host. He was here for a year, then went to Bismarck and did Bobcat hockey for a season, then came back to GF. KNOX has really been covering area high school sports hard since he came back. He is a very talented radio guy both in the studio and in a play by play booth. I listened to him to for years when he was at KVOC as well. KNOX covered the women's WCHA Tourney at REA last year and he called the games.

After the 2016-17 season.....

Has anybody heard Ryan Cunningham from KNOX radio do high school sports? Whether it is TV or radio, I think it would be great to have him doing UND games in some capacity. Very talented play by play guy. Put Sweeney back on TV and try to get Cunningham to do football on the radio.

Yeah I used the Herald number, that is what I read the day I posted. I see the game write up on the UND site has the 2,953 while the official box score has 2,593. I would tend believe the 2,953 though now. Agree it didn't seem like there were 500 empty seats. Still surprised there were any empty seats for this game though.

I think Jacksonville would give them a game in Frisco. Agree though that the game against Richmond is merely a formality.

I wasn't surprised at all when he got T'd up there, I could see it coming. He did everything but run to center court and pound on the floor with his fists. He lost his composure as badly as I have ever seen him do so. I didn't think the technical ended up hurting as much as you did. Astonishingly, Jacobson missed both FTs and the T really fired up the crowd. I think NDSU had trimmed the lead to 6 by that point and the momentum had already been squarely on the side of the Bison before it. That is why I thought getting T'd up at that point was so bad. You can easily see why the players, as talented as a lot of them are, can lose focus and be out of control at times when their head coach can't keep it together in such a critical situation.

Attendance for the North Dakota-NDSU game last night was 2,593. I am quite sure that the crummy weather yesterday affected the turnout, and as we have discussed college basketball attendance has been trending downward in recent years. Having said that, as far as I can tell, this was the most poorly attended UND-NDSU basketball game in at least the last 35 years. Again, probably a variety of factors, but a general low level of interest in the program from the casual fans that live in and near Grand Forks is likely the biggest culprit in my opinion. Props to all the great fans and students that did come to the game though. The atmosphere was outstanding! In fact, I'd say the Sioux Center was as loud or even louder than I have ever heard it. One of the reasons that I love that venue so much, once you get about 2,000 in there the place can become very raucous if the crowd is into it. Despite the frustrating second half collapse, it was an entertaining game down the stretch. Hopefully the students and casual fans thought so as well and come back once conference play starts up.

You know you have hit rock bottom when you have NDSU fans feeling sorry for the state of the UND basketball program........
-
Regardless of who the opponent is, to have a 15 point lead at home in front of a packed house and very amped up crowd that is behind you and end up losing the game is disappointing to say the least. Hats off to NDSU for making the necessary adjustments and coming back in that one. I thought UND was going to run away with it for a while there. I continue to be impressed by Dave Richman and the entire NDSU coaching staff.

Jacobson missed both. The T really amped up the crowd. Very loud in here.
-
Not the most opportune time to get a technical......
-
Well, it only takes one more win than that to get into the FCS Playoffs.............
-
Hmmmm......... Seem to be a tad off on the personnel.

There are 1,066 members of the NCAA. 933 of them don't care enough about hockey to even offer it as a varsity sport at any level. I love it that my favorite school is the biggest fish in a small pond, but again let's be realistic.

I don't think so. I guess I am biased toward UND hockey as a season ticket holder, but I really don't know a ton of players outside of the UND hockey realm except for some of the bigger stars of the game.
