  1. I wasn't surprised at all when he got T'd up there, I could see it coming. He did everything but run to center court and pound on the floor with his fists. He lost his composure as badly as I have ever seen him do so. I didn't think the technical ended up hurting as much as you did. Astonishingly, Jacobson missed both FTs and the T really fired up the crowd. I think NDSU had trimmed the lead to 6 by that point and the momentum had already been squarely on the side of the Bison before it. That is why I thought getting T'd up at that point was so bad. You can easily see why the players, as talented as a lot of them are, can lose focus and be out of control at times when their head coach can't keep it together in such a critical situation.
  2. Attendance for the North Dakota-NDSU game last night was 2,593. I am quite sure that the crummy weather yesterday affected the turnout, and as we have discussed college basketball attendance has been trending downward in recent years. Having said that, as far as I can tell, this was the most poorly attended UND-NDSU basketball game in at least the last 35 years. Again, probably a variety of factors, but a general low level of interest in the program from the casual fans that live in and near Grand Forks is likely the biggest culprit in my opinion. Props to all the great fans and students that did come to the game though. The atmosphere was outstanding! In fact, I'd say the Sioux Center was as loud or even louder than I have ever heard it. One of the reasons that I love that venue so much, once you get about 2,000 in there the place can become very raucous if the crowd is into it. Despite the frustrating second half collapse, it was an entertaining game down the stretch. Hopefully the students and casual fans thought so as well and come back once conference play starts up.
  3. You know you have hit rock bottom when you have NDSU fans feeling sorry for the state of the UND basketball program........
  4. Regardless of who the opponent is, to have a 15 point lead at home in front of a packed house and very amped up crowd that is behind you and end up losing the game is disappointing to say the least. Hats off to NDSU for making the necessary adjustments and coming back in that one. I thought UND was going to run away with it for a while there. I continue to be impressed by Dave Richman and the entire NDSU coaching staff.
  5. Jacobson missed both. The T really amped up the crowd. Very loud in here.
  6. Not the most opportune time to get a technical......
  7. Well, it only takes one more win than that to get into the FCS Playoffs.............
  8. Hmmmm......... Seem to be a tad off on the personnel.
  9. There are 1,066 members of the NCAA. 933 of them don't care enough about hockey to even offer it as a varsity sport at any level. I love it that my favorite school is the biggest fish in a small pond, but again let's be realistic.
  10. I don't think so. I guess I am biased toward UND hockey as a season ticket holder, but I really don't know a ton of players outside of the UND hockey realm except for some of the bigger stars of the game.
  11. I wouldn't be completely surprised if this game doesn't sell out. Interest in this program is at an all time low, no question about it.
  12. I never said Lake St. wasn't good at hockey. I was countering the implication that the FCS is a haven for schools with modest resources to have the opportunity to win a national championship. I would say college hockey provides a much easier path to win an NCAA title. Having less than 60 participants and the number of titles won by schools that don't play any other DI sports seems to back that up from my perspective.
  13. Honestly, I haven't heard of any of those guys. Like most Americans, I don't really follow the NHL. I have to admit that unless they played at UND or their last name is something like Orr, Gretzky, Lemeiux, or Crosby I'm a little bit in the dark.
  14. Honestly I would think USD would easily be an upgrade over WIU. Maybe not financially, but just the fact that USD is flagship school in its state. How far down on the totem pole in Illinois is WIU? Northwestern, Illinois, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois are all above the Leathernecks in the hierarchy.
  15. Well that is one ironic statement, considering that 37% of the schools playing "Division I" hockey are either DII or DIII in all of their other sports. An FCS title is far superior to a college hockey title, no question about it. Even UND's DII football title dwarfs all seven of our hockey titles as far as prestige. I love North Dakota hockey, but lets be realistic. When something called Lake Superior State can have as many national titles as Michigan St., you know it can't be all that tough to win it all.
  16. Selling two in the lower bowl at the end UND shoots at twice for the SATURDAY Jan 2nd game against Alabama Huntsville. Section 103, row P. $60 for the pair. PM or text 701-797-7021.
  17. I was only able to follow on Twitter until OT, but I pretty much wrote them off when I saw they were down ten. Says alot about their character and mental makeup to dig out of that whole and end up getting the win. Sounds like it was an ugly game from both teams, but the ability to come back was encouraging.
  18. I didnt see any of the Griz game, but as far as bad QB play goes, Kuresa from PSU last night was horrible. I was shocked they didnt make a chsnge especially considering they had three different guys taking snaps at times this season.
  19. This program isn't in a place where I would criticize ANY win over DI competition, especially on the road.
  20. Montana St. hired Jeff Choate as its new coach. Longtime assistant of Chris Petersen at both Boise St. and Washington.
  21. UNI beat PSU last night, so Panthers will be in Fargo next week. As much as I was pulling for the Vikings as the Big Sky conference mate, it was pretty apparent to me watching the game, that NDSU would have absolutely destroyed them. UNI will give the Bison a pretty good game I think. I wasn't at all surprised by the result of the Montana-NDSU game. That gimicky offense that Montana runs may be fun to watch at times, but it seems rarely successful against a quality defense like NDSU's.
  22. Nice win on the road. Congrats to Coach Jones and the team.
  23. Vermilion is much closer to the equator, more tropical climate, much easier to recruit to..........
  24. But he has lost to lower paid DII and NAIA coaches. And in most cases, anybody knows you get paid what you are worth.
  25. Doesn't matter. UND is the oldest and largest University in our state. It sports the largest athletic department budget in our state. We should be able to put up a fight amongst the worst that the Missouri Valley has to offer. The best that the MVC has to offer already blew us out of our own building. I certainly don't expect this team to do the same.......
