Agree. I think Tibesar is a wet dream, but regardless of who gets hired, as UND92,96 has said, at some point attendance and fan interest has to play a role financially. Attendance for SDSU was 10,000. Using rough numbers, at $20/ticket that's $200,000 gross revenue. We saw an 11% drop in attendance from SDSU to Montana St. That's a $22,000 hit to the athletic department. What will it be for EWU? 7,000 in the seats? That's a $60,000 drop from the season high. There is no reason that UND can't put 10,000 people in the Alerus every Saturday. They did it in 2001, 2002, 2008, etc................ An extra $15,000-20,000 gross revenue on gameday as a result of better attendance would go a long ways to paying a coaching salary..............

Given with how badly North Dakota was embarrassed in the last two home games, and the fact that there is presumably one more severely lop-sided home butt-kicking scheduled against EWU, I think the only way Coach Mussman is retained is if they finish 7-4. That would obviously mean winning every game except EWU. Personally, when I look at the schedule, I only see 3 more possible wins at this point: Idaho St., Northern Colorado, and UC Davis. And I'm thinking all those will be nailbiters. I've been researching Brian Faison's hires and fires since he has been here. Here is a summary: Ashley Hardee---Volleyball Preceded by Kari Peterson, an interim coach. She had an outstanding season against poor competition in 2008. She resigned for personal reasons and did not pursue the full time job. Hardee had no ties to North Dakota, but was an assistant at DI New Mexico St. for 8 years while Faison was there He has been a home-run hire Steve Parsons---SwimmingParsons took over UND's most successful non revenue sport in 2009, and struggled mightily for 4 years with CUSA and MPSF affiliations He was a UND assistant in the mid-2000's when North Dakota was DII power in swimming He was an assistant at DI East Carolina for several years before taking over the UND program he was hired by Faison, and he was Fired by Faison Kristen Gay---SoccerPreceded by Brock Thompson, who basically guided the only succesful period of North Dakota soccer She was an assistant on Thompson's staff, and was promoted to the head job upon his departure She was Faison's second hire at UND She was hired by Faison, and fired by Faison Kevin Galbraith---Track & FieldHis predecessor is now his associate Head Coach. Just trying to get an idea of how Faison is looking at the coaching sitution for football right now. Alot of people have thrown Faison under the bus along with Mussman because of the contract extension he gave him. Well, he gave him the extension after the 2011 season when UND went 8-3, and they won the Great West (admittedly no huge feat). But have to remember that the year before that, UND was 3-8. A 5 game improvement in a year's time looked pretty good to most of us I assume. Also have to remember that the contract terms of a head coach are an important part of the recruiting process. The other point of my research was because I'm wondering what Faison tolerates. One of the first hires he made here was the soccer coach. Soccer has sucked, and he made a change. Swimming is an even better example to what is going on in football right now. I don't know how many people are aware of this, but in Swimming, UND was just as dominant as they were in football at the DII level in the 90's and 2000's. Swimming hasn't cut it since the DI move, and Faison fired is own guy. That tells me he is willing to make a change. If (it should) that happens this year in football, from what I see from his hiring history, we probably won't see a UND "good ole boy" get hired. It will be someone with DI experience, or someone who has had a successful run as a head coach in DII...............

I am going throw out an the off the wall candidate. Not sure how well he would be received and comes with some baggage. Mike Kramer at Idaho St. He turned around Eastern Washington and he turned around Montana St. He left MSU under fire because he had some questionable players (criminals). He is currently stuck at at a dead end job at ISU, a place that receives zero community or institutional support. I only mention him because he has the reputation of a program builder, he has been a head coach for years, he has been around the Big Sky his entire life, and I bet he'd entertain coming here if he were approached about it. As bad as things are here right now, I have to believe it is more attractive place to coach football than in Pocatello. Again, i have no idea if this would be a good fit at all, butjust the name was worth throwing out there.

Indoor Practice Facility. New turf at Memorial Stadium. New turf at the Alerus. More football games on TV sine he has been here than ever before. I think Faison does a good job. He hasnt been afraid to remove under-performong coaches in the past (volleyball, softball, womens hockey, swimming, soccer).

I really didn't notice their uniforms....................gold/tan with green helmets? I actually noticed PSU's helmets were pretty busy and wondered if they are a secondary benificiary of Oregon.

I'm not sure it is a viable option. The NCAA has turned the other cheek to sponsoring major college football for good reason, IMO. They can do this I believe because they have a stranglehold on every other college sport. Since the dawn of time, the NCAA has not regulated (sponsored a championship) for major college football. They have for every other sport. If the BCS schools break away, they would still have to come with a solution to maintain and fund 90% of their athletic department from which they'd receive no assitance from the NCAA. IMO, what the NCAA does, is provide infrastructure for member institutions to operate within. Title IX is a huge aspect to this as well. Many sports sponsored by schools are done to comply with Title IX. If football and men's basketball are your major sports, how would depleting the opponent pool for all sports by 80% work to comply with this federal law? It just wouldn't. My guess is that the current BCS schools will continue to tweek and modify things as they see fit. TV networks desire to cover them will dictate that. The NCAA won't care too much, because honestly they don't have a dog in the fight as far as football goes.

Poly's qb can run the ball but he isn't likely to throw for much against anyone. CP defense looks good. This is like old time football.. Two teams that want to run it down your throat......

One of the best things about the Big Sky Conference is late night football.....................
