Don't compare playing UNI one time to playing NDSU on a yearly basis for bragging rights in the state. A tad bit different.
-
Two huge statistical categories to win on the road.
-
Great win! But somebody tell Benton you do NOT make that free throw after you missed the first - you either make both or miss both with the lead and only 1.8 secs left. You cannot allow them to setup and cover 70 feet of court with a baseball pass and no time coming off the clock. If he misses it one of those guards that they had down low would have to heave it from 75 feet to win. But I digress. HUGE shot by Anderson!

Tom paints himself into a corner here. Quote: "UND missed five free throws in the final four minutes of regulation, but the Green and White also shot 17-for-23 (73.9 percent) from the line for the game". So in essence - UND missed 5 of their 6 free throws for the game in the last 4 mins of the game, once they had taken the lead. They led by 3 for the entire last three minutes of the game until NAU tied it up with 11 secs left. In those three minutes, they missed 4 free throws and only made two. That is choking to me. Not the worst ever, but still kind of a choke-job.

New information states that SMU is paying Montana State 300k. Montana State is paying Monmouth 200k to come to Bozeman on opening day, the week before SMU. So my new math shows MSU is losing 110k: 300k (SMU) - 110k (travel to SMU) - 100k (buyout NDSU) - 200k (Monmouth) = losing 110k. On the flip side, if they played NDSU: -110k (travel to NDSU) - 200k (Monmouth) = losing 310k. Looks like a financial move to me. Plus they get a guaranteed FCS home win out of the deal.

Lets not forget they immediately moved to 60 scholarships in 2004, then on to 63 within a year after that. Now I have heard from Bison fans that these extra 27 scholarships would not show up on the field for "years". Not true. NDSU immediately went out and got EIGHT junior college players for the 2004 season to fill gaps. These are 8 players that D2 teams cannot afford - they can maybe afford to get one or two. On top of that, would NDSU fans have been happy if UND cut off the series in 2005 or 2006 when those 63 scholarships were now on the field in one way or the other vs. UND's 36 total schollies? Probably not. After all that its probably just best to end it in 2003.

Please explain how it will be a "wash"? If they get 350k to go down there - that leaves about 135k left over after spending 100k on the charter, 100k on buyout and 15k for miscellaneous cost. If they are only getting 300k, then they make 85K. Profit is profit and that can pay for alot of things in recruiting, jerseys, etc.

At least NDSU, their administration, their fans, and their media members are handling this well. Get a grip. This is embarassing how big of a deal they are making this out to be. I think Kolpack and Dom are on the verge of tears - and Gene resorts to saying how he wants to get MSU in the dome and have their fans "welcome" them. Immediately moving to vengeance-related comments is a character flaw for an AD.

The Summit League was extremely aware of UND's interest in getting in the baseball league.
-
I see Douple is up to his old tricks again: Asked about UND and baseball affiliation with the Summit, Douple said it was “discussed among some members” but “(UND) hadn’t indicated anything.” It has been proven in articles that UND formally applied to the Summit but never heard back or were unformally told that they were not getting in. It is pretty obvious to all that UND wanted in the Summit for baseball due to geography and that SDSU, NDSU and Omaha also wanted them in badly.
-
So after re-reading the story on Coach Mannasau's move the Champions Club I couldn't help but notice one thing - No quote from Coach Mussman in there. No quote thanking Mike for all his years of service to the UND Football program (15 years or so total). Hopefully, it was an oversight or something like that. Isn't it pretty standard for a Head Coach to thank an assistant for his years of service?
-
Why dont we worry about our own program? Move on.
-
Didnt he get a raise to 114k or in that area?
-
Agreed. I have also heard that the other Dakota's were begging to get them in for obvious reasons but the higher ups wouldnt do it. Bad deal for the Summit baseball teams to not add some stability to the baseball league.

Can you quit talking about his family? Creep.

Because if we go through them they will take 10% off the top, like usual. -
How pathetic does this make the Summit League look? Kansas City University wants to leave the Summit to join: New Mexico State Seattle California State University, Bakersfield University of Texas–Pan American Utah Valley University Grand Canyon University Chicago State University
-
I see the mighty Summit League could be losing Kansas City University. They must not have liked the new marketing ideas.

My sources say Combs is not getting into Illinois State either. They may have signed him or said they are going to and announced it as such, but he does not have the grades either. How can their high school allow them to do this? What a mess.
-
Yes. Their head coach is a tool.
-
His twitter says we gave him a full ride. He must be coming to UND but they had to wait to announce for some reason. Whatever, this is the corner we all wanted so this class just got even better!
-
I do know Opara had grade issues but for him to say he "signed" with UND is strange. Makes me wonder if he did commit but couldn't sign because of something logistical, maybe a partial qualifier type of thing where he will know more in the spring when he graduates?
-
I am hearing Redmond is going to Illinois State. Stinks because he would have been a good one.
-
Back on topic, I just saw a tweet from what appears to be a Delaware State player that says they play North Dakota State next year. They must have filled one of their Sept slots with the Hornets. Put the issue to rest for another year now. I should add "if true" to the above statement. Just because some kid tweets it does not mean its locked in.

With walk-ons it is probably closer to 8-9 recruits, you're right.
