  1. Lamoureux probably wont play this weekend. Its great for Grieco to get his feet wet. He is still only 17. I think he will be a stud once he starts feeling more comfortable. I am more worried about the penalty kill. They have given up a lot of goals this year. Once they straighten that out (and they will) they will be a tough team to score on.
  2. They play it all the time at the Italian Moon. They have a long tape put together of great highlights that have happened over the years.
  3. The coaches want to bring in the best players they can. You can't bring in every player who is a brother or son of a former player. Hypothetcally speaking, next year would you rather have incoming freshmen Jordy Christian or Evan Trupp. Malone or Marvin. Lapoint or Lee. Lamoureaux or Hextall? You can't make everyone happy and you can't take every player out there, but then again maybe we should have two teams.
  4. Great way to start out Sioux Badger week. I can't wait to see Malone in Green and White. He sounds like a typical North Dakota power Forward. Now he can just relax the rest of the year and play hockey.
  5. O.K. for now on I won't tease you. I will just keep it to myself. By the way what does westerncollege hockey know? After all he said John Lee is a player a lot like his brother except less skilled(or something like that) when John Lee is totally opposite of his brother. John is really aggresive, a very Physical player that plays with a chip on his shoulder. He doesn't have very much offensive skills at all. I would compare him to a smaller less skilled Matt Greene style of player.
  6. There is going to be a lot to talk about on this thread SOON. "Its a great day for hockey"
  7. Maybe he got suspended for just standing there out on the ice when Holy Cross scored. He must of forgot he was playing goalie.
  8. Maybe Malone should look at Travis Zajac as an example to follow. Goto UND play two years of college and then make an NHL team as a rookie.

    Hagemo Done

Best of luck to Hagemo in the fututre. Hate to see any athlete go out like that. Schools can honor the scholarship for injured players and guys who use up their eligibility and have not finished school. It doesn't count against their 18 scholarships they have for the current team. If they have another injury I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in a player at Christmas break.
  10. If the refs call it tight like USA hockey is trying to do at all the festivals last summer(I know that has nothing to do with college), Toews will be unstoppable. Either way I think he is going to run away with the scoring title.
  11. Friday, September 29, 2006 Nash, Top Uncommitted Recruit Narrows Choices Riley Nash, a 6'1", 175 lb. rookie for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL, has narrowed his college choices. Nash is considered to be the top recruit left in North America that has yet to committ to an NCAA school. Nash's older brother, Brendon Nash, currently plays center for Cornell. Cornell also happens to be one of Nash's schools that he has chosen to visit. The Univeristy of New Hampshire is also one of the five schools, including Michigan, Denver, North Dakota and the aforementioned Cornell. It's good to see that teams other than BC and BU are garnering attention from top level recruits. Hockey East needs a lot more commitments from that upper echelon to compete with the CCHA and WCHA in particular. Nash is currently third on his team in scoring with a 6-6-12 line. He will either arrive next fall or in '08 to one of those schools.
  12. Forgot to add that we will have the BEST line in college hockey and I challenge anyone to argue against that.
  13. I really like this team. Last year Hak brought in 13 freshmen. Has any team in the history of college hockey every had 13 freshmen. Putting it that way its amazing that we went to the frozen four. That gets me to my point that this year we have Experience. Last year that was the only thing we didn't have and it hurt the first half of the season and in the end thats what killed us vs. B.C. Yeah there were a few key guys back, but remember almost all but 1 D lacked experience. 13 freshmen with a 2nd year coach. wow what they did was unreal. Last years team had everything else. Great leadership, character, grit, and skill, Great goaltending and Great special teams.. That may have been one of the most skilled teams in Sioux history and it showed threw the stretch run, final 5 , regions. 10 years from now you may look back and say they had Zajac, Stafford, Oshie, Toews, Smaby, ect all on one team how didnt they win it all. This year, like Hak said they have guys that have won the MacNaughton cup, Final 5 and have been to 2 frozen fours. They have great leadership, highly skilled guys. This is A lot like last years team, but this year there is a lot more experience. We don't need to rely on freshmen, unlike last year when there was 10 freshmen in the line up every night. This year the head guy has more experience, 6 D with a lot of experience. And all them high powered forwards like TJ, Toews, Duncan, Watkins, Kozek, Porter, Kaip, Fabian have a lot of experience. I like this team and I think it will bring home a lot of hardware and Accolades. I mean a lot. As far as freshmen they don't need them to contribute as much as last year. The reason I like this class is there is a potential they will all be here 4 years from now. Watching this class I see a future Curtis murphy, Chris Porter, Rory MaMahon, Kevin spiewak, Colby Genoway and a great Goaltender(He doesn't remind me of anyone because I have never seen a six foot tall Sioux Goalie). There is no Oshie, Parise or Toews, but guys who will contribute a little more each year and will explode as juniors and seniors. This won't make sense now, but maybe at the end of the year it will. I think this class will have some surprises, but the benefit will be when they are juniors and seniors like 2005. This is getting long, I must stop myself from making dumb posts on this board. by the way I have a pitbull named Prp
  14. Boyle was a 22 year old junior with 22 goals. Toews was a 17 year old with 22 goals(most of them in the scond half). This year Boyle will score 25 goals, Toews will score 30-35. Just my 2 cents. Like I said I don't watch a lot of hockey east and I am WCHA biased. I would much rather have Blake Wheeler over Boyle. I am scared Wheeler is going to have a HUGE year.
  15. I think Toews will lead the league in scoring. I also think Brian Boyle is the most over hyped college player I have ever seen. Though I have only seen him play 6 times the last 2 years. If he was in the WCHA he would be just another player, but since he is out East they will hype him as a possibly Hobey. Even after he scores only 25 goals.
  16. Michigan doesn't count because they are play in a weak league. J/K That reminds me, why would any big time recruit want to play in any other league. In the WCHA you play in Great buildings at UND(11,400) Minnesota(10,000), CC(7,000), Denver(6,500) and Wisconsin (15,000)(wisconsin is really a basketball arena and the hockey team doesn't get to practice there and they play 2nd fidel and sometimes they play at bad time due to basketball getting 1st dibs). Also you play in front of the great atmospheres at Duluth and St. Cloud. If you do good enough you goto the X for the WCHA final 5 and play in front of 19,000. Its not like the East coact who play in front of High school sized crowds.
  17. Salmon Arm won again last night. This maybe one of there best teams ever. They are 5-0 and are averaging 7 goals a game. Like I said in an earlier post they have at least 8 D-1 prospects including Winnett. I wasn't including Volpi and Cain. I just noticed that those 2 are committed already. There Power play must be great. They are 12 for 33 for 36%. I was looking at the Salmon Arm record book on their website, its great to see all the Sioux players like Zajac, Duncan, Brady Murray.
  18. Lets see UND has a first class coaching staff, one of the BEST arena's in the world with state of the art training equipment, players get access to the arena when every they want, a great academic record, die hard community support & following and they are the #1 show in town a lot like the Montreal Canadiens or Vancouver Canucks. HUGE support from Alumni especially guys like Ralph Engelstad, Jason Blake, Zach Parise, guys like Ed Belfour and Mike Commodore bringing the Stanley Cup back to Grand Forks. You would Get to play for a coach like Dave Hakstol who will be in the NHL some day. He is one of the most intelligent people I know and would do anything for his players. Play for Mr. Champioship Cary Eades who has as many rings as fingers. As head coach He has won 4 Minnesota State high school champs, one USHL National championship, 2 NCAA rings as a player at UND and one as an assistant coach. A chance to work individually with a guy like Dane Jackson who played pro hockey for 11 years. I would guess that the Sioux have been the most winningest team in all of College hockey over the last 10 years. Playing in the Frozen four 5 of the last 10 years, playing in the title game 4 times during that run winning it all twice. Plus winning the WCHA title 5 times in 10 years. but the main reason I would want to come next year would be the possability to play with T.J. Oshie.
  19. How come no body has answered. I was wondering too. I like to see locals do good in all sports.
  20. Just a hunch but I bet the Great ones son will play major junior. I am guessing this because he is so involved in hockey Canada and it would kind of be a slap in the face if his son played Tier 2 or college hockey in the States. If his son did play college and came to UND I think the best part would be seeing Janet at the games. Also it is public knowledge that Malone has narrowes it down to UND and Wisconsin. There was an article about it in the Madison Journal. and it was first reported by someone on this board. It would be great to land 2 big blue chip forwards for next year. As for recruiting, the coaches see every team and every player in the USHL, BCHL, Alberta, Saskatchewan Minnesota high school elite league, all the USA hockey festivals, and SSM. so they pretty much see every player in midwestern U.S. and western Canada. This is there busy time of year with these leagues all starting and they are almost always on the road. Think how nice it is for the team that lost to Holy Cross, they don't have to drive any further than 20 minutes to do all their recruiting.
  21. I was just curious, but the people here that are not happy with our incoming freshmen class, which ones would you cut and which recruits would you replace them with. I want a logical answer, don't say Eric Johnson or Okoposo because those kids were going no where else but minnesota. My point is you can't get every single player out there. I have said this before and I will say it again, people are going to be really surprised by our freshmen(one of them is going to shock people). I have heard a lot of very positive things and they are looking really good at the captain practices. We have Oshie and Toews, what more do we need.............
  22. Wisconsin was a vetran team last year. If you took away the first half when they blew everyone out of the water including UND and Minnesota they probably wouldn't have a very good average. you have to admit they had trouble scoring. We will see who scores more this year. I know who I will put my money on.
  23. Remember that last year was 2 different seasons for the Sioux. They brought in 13 freshmen(half the team). The first half of the season they were .500, had troubel scoring and couldn't compete with Wisconsin and Minnesota. After they came together the second half they were one of the best teams in the country and they scored a lot of goals in their playoff games. I am to lazy to look up all the scores though, but add up the Final 5, west region, and frozen four and they probably average 5 goals a game. If you follow hockey you have to know that traditionally UND and Minnesota score way more than Wisconsin.
