  1. There was a Big time recruit on campus this weekend. Most hockey fans will remember his dad playing in the NHL. Thats all I can say, but I here it went good!
  2. His name is pronounced Deeth. I dont understand why, maybe the family should change the spelling!
  3. Apple Valley will sure be fun to watch next year as they may have the best 94 and 95 born players in the country! Sounds like both kids are fans of the maroon and gold. Hopefully they can see whats going on down there!
  4. Minnesota has Advance 15 tryouts going on now. The 95 born age group in Minnesota is very, very Strong. May 1st and 2nd 12 teams (240 kids) will play in a tourney at New Hope and from there they pick the best 104 to participate in the Minnesota Advance 15 festival. From that festival they pick the top 24 to goto the USA Festivl in Rochster NY. Apple Valley Star Hudson Faushing maybe the best 95 born player in the Country and Taylor Cammarata who plays at Shattuck and is from the cites is up in that category too.
  5. If Lucia did leave Minnesota would be crazy not to go after Motzko! That is if they couldnt get Dean, but even if they could wouldnt you want a guy you know will be around for 10 years?
  6. I hate how todays fans are so caught up in winning National Championships, Super Bowls, World Series & Stanley Cups. It seems like todays fans consider the whole seasom a failure if there favorite team doesnt win the big one. Why cant people just be happy when there team has an exciting season? The Sioux havent won the NCAA title since 2000 but since then they have won everything else multiple times. How many schools can say that? They have had some of there best players in Sioux history and guys that are Stars in the NHL. I hate to say it but a Parise and Toews doesnt come along very often and we may not see players like them for a very long time, if ever in our life times. I mean guys who are top NHL players, captains of their teams and 2 of the best players for there country during the olympics. Last year the last 2 months of the Twins season was about as exciting as I can ever remember. I knew they had no chance to win the World Series but I still enjoyed every minute of it. Last year the Vikes had there best season since 1998. I had hoped they could get to the Super Bowl and win it, but they didnt and I still had the most enjoyment ive had watching them in years. People are forgetting the Sioux of the mid 90s. That was hard to watch and there wasnt many high points during them years. I know people will say with the arena and money they have now that cant happen or shouldnt happen but as a reminder just look 300 miles to the south and see what theyve done the last 3 years with two 7th place finishes and no NCAA apperance the last 2 years when they hosted regions. I guess I went off to much but my point is enjoy the run the Sioux have had, the league championships, the playoff championships, the regional championship and all the star players theyve had because it probably wont last forever. Who ever thought the Yankees would go 9 years without a World Series title? Sports are for entertainment and sometimes fans take it to personal and to far. Its great to have passionate fans and I was and still am pissed about the last game but I am more excited for next season especilly with it being in St. Paul. If the Sioux get there it will be a home ice advantage and they will have a GREAT chance for number 8! and by the way one of my all time favorites is Greg Johnson. He didnt win any type of title at UND but he was everything you would ever think of when thinking of a Sioux player!
  7. Does anyone have a link to watch the pregame video they play at hockey games? Not the ones they use for starting line ups, but the one they play about 20 minutes before game time? I have looked all over and cant find it any where. I googled and youtube'd and i cant seem to find it. Thanks
  8. There was just no room for him. If Genoway redshirts there will be a log jam at Defense for next year and possible the year after with 3 studs the Sioux have committed.
  9. Ive said it before but Omdahl is the best uncommitted recruit out there in this area!
  10. Did any one watch the freshmen and soph from Apple Valley play in town last weekend? They are as talented as you will see anywhere in the country!
  11. Shane Omdahl had a big night last night. After Brock Nelson he is the next best player in this area!
  12. I thought Fienhage and Gleason would be splitting time every weekend to start the season but it hasnt worked that way for 2 reasons. #1 Gleason has done nothing to lose his spot, but #2 and more importantly they need Gleason on the Power Play. I hope Fienhage gets in there soon and gets some playing time cause you never know when someone may go down with an injury. Last weekend Minnesota was almost down to 5 Dmen but Loftquist made it back from his injury. Which made me think maybe loftquist wasnt really hurt hes just not good enough to make their lineup. When should we start the thread that Gleason is better than Ness?
  13. Mattson is not a scorer. Never has been. He is like a bigger Taylor Chorney. He will only get a couple goals a year, but he will rack up alot of assists. He could of easily been in the line up this year, heck he could of cracked the line up last year the way he played (even though he was still in high school)! As I said in a post before the season If Blood keeps progressing throughout the year, Im sure he will have a lot of pressure to sign! After watching Minnesota you have to be very happy with the defensemen our coaches have recruited and with the ones they've gotten commitments from. Fienhage would be in their top 4 right now. North Dakota and Wisconsin have did a great job of plucking some good defensemen out of Minnesota the last couple years and the reason I say this is because its obviously the gophers biggest weekness.
  14. Alberta Sioux have you got to see the Big 93 Defenseman Dillion Simpson of Spruce Grove? I here he is a stud.

    WOW

Thanks for all the great comments and posts by you and other Tech fans. I am surprised at how classy all the Texas Tech fans that have been that posted on here. Were not use to seing that very often. If you read on here you can tell that not many nice comments are mdae by opponents fans especially are rivals from NDSU and our hockey rivals the minnesota gophers. Thanks again and best of luck this season. I will be cheering for you especially vs. the Horns. Is that your biggest Rival?
  16. Yes but usually you know who the studs are by the time their juniors and seniors and you even know who the really good ones are before their sophomore year. You knew you could count on guys like Brunell, Callahan, Moore, Dessler, Digger, Chappel leading into the first game. Im not tying to be negative I am a die hard Sioux fan. It just seems to me other than Bamba we dont have any potential game breakers when we play in tight games laterin the year. I forgot about Murrays gone too. OUCH We need a special tutor for running backs (Riza Macmaud(sp), Chappell and now Murray). Coaches have done a great job reloading though. I will admit I dont know much about football, but I usually know talent. I think that QB from Perham is going to be a BIG time player here some day.
  17. I was wondering, (on paper) where would people rank this Sioux team vs Sioux teams from the last 10 years or so? Even if we were still division 2 I dont think this is as strong of a team as weve had in the past. I would think this team is in the bottom half compared to what weve had the last 15 years. We dont have a stud running back or linebacker like weve had the last 16 or 17 years. Our QB is really unknown, even though he has a rocket arm his accuracy is off alot. We dont have the big game changer like Philip Moore, Shannon Burnell, Weston Dressler, Travis Lueck, Ryan Chappel, Brady Trenbath! Man I wish we still had Chappel. Be fun to see what he could do in a game like this. Murray is good but hes NO Chappel. Hopefully Bamba will continue to get better. I think we really miss the studs on D weve had from Mark Callahan, Moony, Kelly, Digger, ect. To bad we didnt have the offensive weapons we had a couple years ago with Dressler and Chappel going this weekend. I dont see the Sioux moving the ball at all on Saturday. But maybe now we have more depth then we use to. Sorry I didnt even mention the guys we have in the NFL when I talked about stud players the last few years. Guess I always think of the offensive stars.
  18. Clarke claims he was hoping that Lewiston drafted him! They must be offering him a lot of money because who else would hope that a mid level organization thats finished 9th drafts them? I cant believe someone would give up a chance to play in a brand new arena for a legendary coach and then give up the opportunity to play in one of the best facilities in the world for a traditional powerhouse with a great reputation for developing pros all to play in a rink that is 45 years old for some coach that played with the Hanson brothers and the Charlestown Chiefs. I guess he must think the Q is that much better then College hockey. Im glad hes never going to be a Sioux cause he already showed his word means NOTHING
  19. I was trying to pat myself on the back and Im not Tech Savy enough to put this on the Wheeler thread, but almost 3 years later it show that I was right and if you look at this original post, you can look at the following post of a Gopher protecter (but at least He didnt slam Zajac). My point is the scouts in Phoenix failed and once again were outsmarted by the Devils. Th original post is on page one of this thread post #13
  20. When I watch him he reminds me of a high school version of Jeff Panzer. He has amazing speed, and when he gets close to defensemen he has that extra gear to blow by them. I watched Holy Angels 4 times last year and he was always the best player on the Ice. I didnt get my hopes up cause I thought for sure that he was going to Minnesota. He is probably the best forward in the state right now as a junior.
  21. Watch the FSN crew will brag about Buddish and the Edina 5 (5 juniors) and they will barely mention Gleason. Whenever there is a gopher recruit they go overboard bragging him up (especially Gorg). Last time Edina was on TV they didnt talk about Gleason at all and he was by far the best player on the ice. All they talked about was the 5 juniors who are suppose to be the stars. Buddish and Everson are good & I dont know who the other 3 even are, but thats all they talkes about during last years State tourney also. Gleason Deserves the credit. He is the best player on this team and probably the fastest skater in the state.
  22. Landman is pretty good. Watch Sophomore from Roseau Adam Knochenmus #9. He might be their best forward. As far as goalies go, I dont think they will bring in another goalie next year. I think they are more than comfortable with Walski and Eidness for next year.
  23. Yeah get there early and dress warm cause its a very very long walk, up hill into the wind.
  24. Why do some fans only cheer for some players and they cut down other players? Shouldnt you cheer for the whole team? The best TEAMS win championships and there are lots of different formulas that make up the chemistry to a championship team, besides just talent. I think year in and year out the Gophers have more skill and depth then us(Michigan too). There 10th and 15th best players have more skill than ours, but we make up for it by our players character, competitiveness, grit and their commitment to the Tradition of the progarm. That is something Minnesota has lacked the most the last 4 to 5 years. Do you think Fabian or Prpich would have ever had a successful college career at Minnesota? My point is if you want to be a Sioux fan cheer for all the guys, not just the top 2 o3 players. Because they are all valuable assets to the team.
  25. Thats good because now they have less room for Nick Mattson.
