  1. How many of you guys played division 1 athletics? I dont get why you have to make so many negative remarks about players that are on your favorite team. I think there is a term for that.
  2. Is that like the tractor story on Seinfeld?
  3. Like I said in another thread that Murray kid is a stud, lots of talent. He will surely be the number 2 guy. I am guessing that this may be the best 1, 2 punch the Sioux have ever had (or at least in the last 25 years). If they put them both in the backfield it will be very exciting.
  4. The new running back #27 is a stud. When Chappel is out they wont miss a beat with this kid in there.
  5. I think you are missing out on a lot of local kids that could be possible recruits. Red River, Grafton, and maybe a former South player could be potentially on this list. Also, there are more family ties out there that could have potential like another Ludwig or Josh Berge. Maybe even a Roseau goalie to compete with Eidness in the future. Just thought I would throw out a few names because this is always the most intersting thread. To bad that you never have enough room for all these great kids. I would also put Landman on top of my wish list. He is a player
  6. I would be very interested to here what a certain posters husband has to say about Blood. Did she know the Sens where interested in him?
  7. This is another great pickup. I cant wait to finally see jason play in a Sioux uni. Congrats Jason. Welcome to the Sioux Family As for all the message board specualtion I think it should stop now. Who cares why he decided against Denver. Put yourslf in the shoes of a recruit. If you didnt grow up dreaming to play for a certain team, think of the pressure you have to try and make the right choice. Then you have coaches trying to tell you what you should do. How do you choose between UND, Minnesota, Wisconsin, CC and Denver. Every one of them has a lot to offer. Great programs in the Best league in college hockey. Remember when you were 17, 18 or 19 and you were trying decide your future for the rest of your life. Its a TOUGH decision. Sometimes these kids are not given enough time and they rush there decision because there is a lot of pressure on them. The bottom line is no one thinks different of Lee goren or Chelios today or even Jason Blake for that matter. Lets just be happy because the program added another great Kid this week and wish him the best of luck.
  8. If your a true Sioux fan don't throw your players under the bus. Either cheer for all the team or cheer for the gophers. You are totally bandwagon if you only cheer for the players and the team when things are going good. The difference between these athletes and most sports fans is they can overcome adversity. Bandwagoners quit watching when the team is losing. If these players played that way and quit the Sioux would have went 10 and 25 this year. In my opinion that is the difference between REAL athletes that have been competitive there entire lives and fans who have probably NEVER played. Brian Lee is a great kid with a lot of skill. I am sure every team in the WCHA would love to have him.
  9. Isnt it great being a Fighting Sioux fan. As a fan I am so proud of our teams year in and year out. From the great leadership of the coaching staff the players devlope so much Pride and respect for the program. Every year the teams are nothing but 1st class. You never see Sioux players diving to draw penalties, running the goalie or best player on the other teams to knock them out of the game. The Sioux tradition has always been to play old time hockey, a very physical and fast tempo with lots of offense. Beat the hell out of them until they quit. I think thats why when you here hockey guys like Barry Melrose and Pierre McGuire talk college hockey they have some much respect for the Sioux teams every year. I especially love when our guys score they dont do excessive celabrations because its not about them, they are more team orientated then most. It is fun to read comments from other players and coaches like Doug Woog recently talked about how Sioux players always wear their heart on their sleves. It fun to here the players talk about how they are playing for the program and how proud and honored they part of the tradition . Its so cool to see what a family atmosphere the teams have and to see all the brother connections and even father son connections that play for the Sioux. I love how passionate the Sioux fan is because it is the #1 sports team in our town and State. Its always on the front page. Sioux fans will show this week that we will have the biggest following of fans at Denver because we always do no matter where we play weather its in Worchester, Albany NY, Providence or Syberia the fans will follow. I just wanted to wish the team the best of luck and say thanks you for all the great memories over the years. Its been nothing but 1st class run organization. Its really awesome to see how these students athletes grow and become better people in life as well. A great example of that is following Prpich and how he became a fan favorite and in return how passionate he became towards the program and its fans. To see great people like Eric Fabian, Chris Porter, Brian Lee, TJ Oshie, and Jonny Toews and so on. There all just such great people. I here how guys like Prph, Matt Greene, Zach Parise, Ed Belfour, Dave Tippett, Jason Blake, Dixon Ward, Brad Bombadeir, Mike Commodore (to name just a few), but I here how dedicated they still are to the program and they will still do anything if their asked. I suppose you should throw Ralph Engelstad on that list too. This is such a special program and its great being a fan and getting to follow it every year. Anyways thanks again and best of luck in the future. and GO SIOUX
  10. I guess that I really touched a nerve with someone. I wasn't trying to brag, but make a point that that a certain blogger either reads stuff on message boards or assumes things and writes about them and the guy has a little bit of credability(he is right more than half the time), so some people believe everything he writes, including things that are no where near the truth. Sometimes he has written things that are not true about our recruits or potential recruits and I usually bite my tongue, but once in a while I speak up to try stop rumors before they start. I don't think that sevenchampionship person knows anything. If he did I don't know why he had to blow up on me. I think he is just sick of my posts leading people on. If he really knows everything I bet he knows who is visiting this weekend? But he doesn't so it will bother him and eat at him. And then he will take it out on me. I guess I will just retire from this board if its upsetting so many people. Your all welcome to my retirement party tonight I will be celebrating at the O.B. Sevens guy, while your on your knees, you can kiss my A?? too.
  11. Yeah and Minnesota didn't offer Bochenski either. This is from the Omaha website. "Bruneteau, who turned down the likes of Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Denver and the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is a senior at Millard North this year and may join the Fighting Sioux next fall. If he doesn't, the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder may spend another year in Omaha." I heard that Minnesota was never really in the running because he didn't want to go there at all, but Wisconsin, Michigan and Denver wanted him big time. When it comes to Sioux recruits I don't get my info from reading message boards or newspapers.
  12. Marto's doing great. Maybe he will develope like Nick Fuhr. He will be here next year. Bruneteau has some brothers to. Funny how some of our rivals don't think that he is a big recruit and that there schools didn't want him when in reality every big time program recuited him. I read He could have went to Wisconsin or Minni, but he wouldn't even visit their schools. This fall He narrowed his short list down to 3 Denver, Michigan and North Dakota. So you know that others think he is going to be a great college player. We got two redheads to committ, now we need one more.
  13. Sorry I was being sarcastic. There was a letter in the G.F. Herald last summer saying that the UND coaching staff won't ever get another good recruit out of the USHL and that the coaches and best players in the U.S. are going to disrespect the program because all three coaches are canadien.
  14. I can't believe that the Sioux have commitments from 2 of the top forwards and one of the best Defensemen recruits from the USHL. I didn't think that UND would ever get another recruit out of the USHL ever again. And their Americans too. WOW
  15. There is room for another forward next year. Actually we are one short right now. Moreland was going to come this year, but couldn't. 3 of our future forward recruits are all 89's and it may not hurt any of them to play another year of juniors, but we will have to wait and see how they do the rest of the year because there is a lot of hockey left. Look at that Ted Purcell at Maine. He is like a 25 year old freshemen (J/K he is 21) and he looks good. If he would of came 3 years ago he probably wouldn't have been noticed and today he would be a junior just hitting his prime. Plus, you never know what the NHL teams are going to do, they may want some guys who are not ready because a lot of them GM's and coaches think they can develope the players better in the AHL. for example who thought Chucko would leave or those guys Mankato lost(I don't even know their names). Bottom line is you have to be ready for anything that could happen.
  16. This is a HUGE commitment. Remember just a few weeks ago when some people were complaining that we didn't have many recruits and it didn't look like we had a very good class. People were questioning the staff. Things can change is a hurry. Congrats Brett, I here your a hell of a hockey player, can't wait to see him in a Sioux uni.
  17. The present is under the tree. You can guess what it is, in a day or two you will know and you will be happy. just like when you got your first bike, you will be surprised and excited.
  18. Surprises are great. Christmas a little early.
  19. I made a post last spring talking about how Wiscosins numbers didn't add up. They were bringing in to many Dmen. This proves it. This was a big loss because he would have been a great player by the end of his sophmore year and would have been a stud as a juniors & senior, kind of like Smaby. He was recruited by everyone.
  20. I think the band has to step up and take control. They play great, but they need songs that people can sing or chant along with and they need to get the fans pumped up like the big schools when you watch major college football or basketball. Wisconsin band controls the student section and that gets the rest of the crowd into it.
  21. This is what the I Falls running back has did the last four games. Better get Schmidt up to his old stomping grounds to recruit. International Falls football coach Stu Nordquist, in his 32nd season leading the Broncos, has never seen anything like what DeAngelo Brackins has done the past four games. Brackins, a 5-11, 205-pound senior, has rushed for 1,250 yards, scored 22 touchdowns and 17 two-point conversions in those games, all victories
  22. The Mpls Star-Tribune had an article yesterday about the Cretin-Derham QB named Joe Springer. I wonder iF UND has seen this kid, since it look like the D-1 schools aren't all over him. The CDH coaches compares him to a pretty good athlete. Also The International Falls running back I was talking about has rushed for over 1,200 yards in his last 4 games. Scanlan said the only other Cretin-Derham Hall player who has put up numbers comparable to Springer's is Joe Mauer, the current Twins catcher. For that reason, the coach doesn't understand why Springer has attracted interest only from lower-level Division I schools so far.
  23. Does anyone know if that International Falls running back has decided where he will be going?
