  1. Last year the Sioux could have won too. They did BEAT wisconsin in the playoffs. I don't want to get into who is better, yeah Wisconsin won last year. Welcome back. My point is you could win a title at either school. An offensive forward would have more fun playing for a program that is an scoring power house year ever year. Why do you think Gaborik wanted to leave the Wild (until the Wild got Demitra) He was sick of the boring hockey. I thought the Wisconsin- Cornell game was the most boring NCAA playoff overtime game EVER. The only player that had the balls to try score for either team the entire game was Skille.
  2. the SSM pipeline is not over. Last year we got Miller, Chorney, Toews, Duncan and this year we get Genoway. They had a down year last year, but they have a lot of young talent (Very young) and when they post their roster you will see a familier name that will hopefully committ this fall. And another SSM alum that may be here in th future too.
  3. As a freshmen would Malone want to score 20 goals like Oshie, Toews,(Duncan was close last year) Brady Murray, Travis Zajac, Zach Parise or does he want to barely get 20 points(Skille)? I am biased but I would like to score.
  4. He went to try out in Red Deer (WHL) but he didn't make it. Now he is playing for Winkler.(his dads old team). If he would have made Red Deer he wouldn't of been able to play NCAA hockey.
  5. The BCHL started last night. To bad that Trupp is going to miss a few weeks. I think he would have challenged Kyle Turris for the league scoring title. Salmon Arm won last night. They have a half dozen players of interest to follow on their team alone. David Toews is back in a good place, so hopefully he is a SIOUX in the future.
  6. There is no way we lose Chorney next year. I here there is a great chance he will be here four years. They will want Finley to play a couple years in the AHL, play physical and beat some people up.
  7. I will be shocked if he is here next year. I think we will lose both him and Lee on defense.

    Goalie

Phil's stats will be among the top 3 in the league.
  9. There are still some diamonds in the ruff out in the BCHL and in Alberta. But then again if they are not from the USHL I guess they can't be that good. There will be a lot more good recruiting talk this fall. There is still some names that haven't hit this board yet.
  10. How about this one. Who will score more? Toews vs. Wheeler Oshie vs. Hirsh Duncan vs. Gordon Porter vs. Stoa Kozek vs. Howe Watkins vs. Okposo Lee vs. Goligoski I don't know the Gophers, Their returners don't have very good stats, but that doesn't mean those guys won't have break out years.
  11. I can't believe that no one has noticed that our new coach has something in common with a pretty good recruit. Hopefully it will help land him. This is just message board speculation to throw out there.
  12. You don't need to be physical when you always have possesion of the puck. All 6 dmen will have lots of experience( last year there was only 1 guy with experience). Players will FEAR FINLEY, just give it time. I thought Greene and Commie were big when they were here, Big Joe makes them look like basketball players. Finley is much more filled out than those guys (when they were here). Joe could have been a senior in High School last year. He had a rough game at the Frozen four, but he improved a lot over the season(remember how bad Smaby was as a fresh). By the end of the year he will be one of the fan favorites and most hated by the opponents and their trainers.
  13. Agreed. I was wondering If I was being overly optimistic about Lee, Chorney, Jones, Finley, Radke, Bina. Should be one of the best D cores in the league. A little of everything. Lots of Skill in Lee, Chorney, Radke, (Bina & Genoway add alot of quickness) (Lee had almost 30 points last year), physical presence Jones and Finley( I think Finley will be an animal this year).
  14. The cup will be in Grand Forks at about 2:00 tomorrow. It will make a few private stops. I bet one of them will be Acme Electric since they are useing the owners plane to fly it in. Then it will be at the Ralph for the public from 6:00 to about 9:00. I Guess there will be a great light show and stuff. Then Commie and his family(mom, Dad and Bro) will bring it back to Edmonton. Should be a great event.
  15. You have to remember that Lammy played most of his games at the begining of the season the last two years and that was when the teams wasn't playing very good. Last year one of the biggest wins of the year was the second night in Minnesota (it was a must win). Lammy stood on his head. I have lots of confidence in him. He is way more athletic than Jordan. I am still worried about Frazee. I think he could step it up and have a big year. I hope I am wrong. Briggs is good for a bad goal a game vs. good teams.
  16. Tessier is going to play Major junior in the Q.
  17. Ness should be on this list too. Let the arguing continue. We had Parise vs. Vanek, Toews vs. Kessel and in 2009 it will be Toews/Kristo vs. Schroeder/Sacchetti. Isn't it great being fans of a powerhouse programs. I know David Toews and Sacchetti haven't committed yet, just give it time.
  18. Winnett had 49 points. Kyle Turris who is the same age played 3 less games and he had 72 points(thats a big time player), plus he led his team to a championship. We lost out on Turris if he still goes the college route. There are still about 10 other players out there that will be as good or better than Winnett. Hopefully UND gets one or two of them. Again I am not saying Winnett isn't good. He must be good, he just isn't a HUGE BIG time recruit(he is replaceable). vs. guys like Turris and Pat Kane. Kane had 109 pts last year on the USNDT. the next closest player had 55. (and that is even including all those future gophers). Then you get into the arguement is it better to have a Winnet for 3 years or Patrick Kane for 1 or 2.
  19. I forgot my main point. There might be another surprise or two from the Cities area. I can't remember if their names have been mentioned on this board. Don't worry the coaches are out there battling for Future Sioux. Just because you don't read about it on Message boards doesn't mean they are not recruiting players. I am not trying to lead anyone on,I'm just informing you on a little info and to try get you to think positive and creates some discussion.
  20. I wrote this because it seems like people think UND is behind in recruiting. It seems like every year there are negative comments. Sioux fans have been very spoiled watching BIG time recruits come in here and have great freshmen years. But it can't happen every year. I know everyone is waiting for a big name for the fall of 2007, but there is none. When I say this I mean there is no Zach Parise's, Toews, Vaneks and Kessels out there right that will have huge impacts on college hockey and score 20-25 goals as a freshmen(for fall 2007). It seems like the big names have opted for Major junior in Canada (Gagner, Mcrae). There are 2 real BIG time recruits for the fall of 2007 are Turris who is going to Wisconsin and Patrick Kane ( both of them could still end up in CHL, I bet Kane goes there). I am just looking at WCHA/CCHA caliber recruits I don't follow eastern Canada or U.S. Winnett was no Loss. There is about 10 other players still out there that can be as good as he is. Yes there is still some great recruits that are high profile guys out there, but looking at there numbers they will have freshmen years like Skille, Wheeler, Stoa, Kozek did where they contributed to there teams, but they didn't light it up. We have some great recruits coming in this year. If Forney wouldn't have gotten hurt I would say he would have scored 15 goals this year. Now his strength is a little behind, but I bet he still gets 10-12. Zajac will surprise a lot of people. Remember last summer a lot of you thought Vandevelde was better than Oshie. I don't think he will get a lot of points, but he will contribute and play a big role, especially by the end of the season Thats when he always comes on. Trupp coming next year, I bet he is in the top 3 in the BCHL scoring this year and he will out score Winnet.
  21. Congrats Danny. Wish you were playing another year in E.P. so we could watch you at the state hockey tourney. Anyways this is a great pickup. With all the departures and with Berry leaveing, its great to get news like this. Cant wait to see you play in the Best Arena wearing the Best uniform in the country. It is great to watch kids follow their dream.
  22. I think that the new assistant coach maybe someone who has not been mentioned yet.
  23. I could see Miller on the 4th line, but then getting some time on the power play because he has great hands and when he gets stronger (especially his lower body) he could score some goals. I think he has potential to be a great player when he is a Junior and Senior. People aren't expecting much from Zajac and he is no Travis, but I bet he will surprise a lot of people this year.
  24. Thanks for the explanation Redwing77. There has been a few recruits in this summer on visits. Hopefully soon you will see a couple commitments. Some players names have not been mentioned on this board yet, so there might be some surprises. I think someone should start a new recruiting thread. This one is getting to long.
